When I retired back in 2001 Merrill Lynch was handling my 401K which I asked to close all my accounts & send me my money, within a few days I received a check, 3 months I received a statement from them saying I still had $18 in my account.  I called them & requested my money.  Even tho tho they acknowledged it was their mistake they charged me $15 to close my account.  

Today I read that the CEO  Stanley O'Neal walked away with a  package worth about 66 million dollars.  Less than a year later the investment house was forced into a take over by Bank of America.

• Sex offenders come from all walks of life and from all socio-economic groups. They can be male or female, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, religious or non-religious, educated or uneducated, and from any race.
• Although some sex offenders are strangers and stalkers, many know the victim as a family member, friend, or neighbor. They win a child’s trust and then take advantage of that trust.
• Potential victims are likely to be children that are poor, neglected, loners, or runaways.
• Many pedophiles seek out mothers of single parent families for the purpose of victimizing children.
• Sex offenders often like playgrounds and other places where children congregate.
• Most sex offenders groom their victims prior to any crime.
• Offenders may position themselves to come into contact with children by:
  • Creating playground environments where victims have access to toys, games, and other things that will later be traded for sex.
  • Enticing with attention, affection, gifts, promises, and providing alcohol and pornography to lower inhibitions.
  • Participating in activities with teens, often excluding other adults, or trying to get teens into situations where no other adults are present.
  • Preying on either a parent/teen desire to excel in a sport. They provide extra assistance and offer special attention.
  • Being the "nice guy" in the neighborhood who is willing to entertain children and take them on outings.
  • Operating businesses that hire teens and looking for excuses requiring them to stay after hours, or visit the offenders home.
  • Seeking employment or volunteering where they will be in contact with children and teens.

I had the operturnity to ride with a DPS Officer Wednesday & for those that believe that they only write traffic citations you are totaly misled.  Yes they do wright tickets

While patroling the freeways we came across a disabled vehicle in the #3 lane, of tunnel the officer stopped behind the vehicle got out of his car stopped 2 lanes of traffic & pushed the disabled car & called for a tow truck.

In the past I have witnessed drivers ignoring police offers directions.

IMO this officer risked his well being to get the traffic moving again.

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.   Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits?   Have you ever wondered why, if all the  politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high  taxes?   You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.   You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.   You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.   You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.   You and I don't control monetary policy, The Federal Reserve Bank does.   One hundred senators, 435 congresspersons, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300  million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.   I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress.   In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central  bank.   I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority.   They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing.   I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept  or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's  responsibility to determine how he votes.   Those 545 human beings  spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.   What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.   No normal human being would  have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.   The president can only propose a budget.   He cannot force the Congress to accept it.   The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating  and approving appropriations and taxes.   Who is the speaker of the House?   She is the leader of the majority party.   She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want.   If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.   It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.   I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.   When you fully  grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal  government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.   If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.   If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ.   There are no insoluble government problems.   Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give  the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.   Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that  there exists disembodied mystical forces like 'the economy,' 'inflation' or 'politics' that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.   Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.   They, and they alone, have the power.   They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.   -----------------------------------------------------

On May 1st  my wife & I graduated from the Phoenix Citizen Police Academy.  It was a 9 week course covering just about every aspect of the police dept. & very informative.  We had to pass a background check because of some of the sensitive material covered. 

As members of the alumni assoc. there are several boards that we can volunteer for such as when an officer is involved in a shoot out. citing folks parking in a handicap spot without a placard or handicap plate.

Our next endevor is the DPS Citizen Police Academy .

Hey Jude you did an excellent job on selling "The Shaq Attack".  We did better last year without him.  The Shaq said he would make everyone better.  Now we sing the old familar tune wait till next year.

There is no way the Suns will enter the record book by beating the Spurs 4 straight.  (No team has done it let.)

Dangers of Methamphetamine – Crystal Darkness

On April 15, 2008, nearly every network-affiliated and independent Arizona television station will simultaneously broadcast a shocking and in-depth documentary on the dangers of Crystal Meth. Don't get confused by localized weather conditions, and global issues.  We are still in a drought, but signs of it ending are on the horizon, more importantly, if we continue to populate the desert areas as we are, the likelihood of running out of water is very high even if the drought ends!  NOT due to global warming but over usage of a very limited resource.

 

Global Warming? New Data Shows Ice Is Back

     Are the world's ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?

 

Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly “lost” ice has come back. A NOAA report shows that ice levels which had shrunk from 5 million square miles in January 2007 to just 1.5 million square miles in October, are almost back to their original levels.   Moreover, a Feb. 18 report in the London Daily Express showed that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than usual, challenging the global warming crusaders and buttressing arguments of skeptics who deny that the world is undergoing global warming.

 

The Daily express recalls the photograph of polar bears clinging on to a melting iceberg which has been widely hailed as proof of the need to fight climate change and has been used by former Vice President Al Gore during his "Inconvenient Truth" lectures about mankind’s alleged impact on the global climate.   Gore fails to mention that the photograph was taken in the month of August when melting is normal. Or that the polar bear population has soared in recent years.

 

As winter roars in across the Northern Hemisphere, Mother Nature seems to have joined the ranks of the skeptics.  As the Express notes, scientists are saying the northern Hemisphere has endured its coldest winter in decades, adding that snow cover across the area is at its greatest since 1966. The newspaper cites the one exception — Western Europe, which had, until the weekend when temperatures plunged to as low as -10 C in some places, been basking in unseasonably warm weather.

 

Around the world, vast areas have been buried under some of the heaviest snowfalls in decades. Central and southern China, the United States, and Canada were hit hard by snowstorms. In China, snowfall was so heavy that over 100,000 houses collapsed under the weight of snow.   Jerusalem, Damascus, Amman, and northern Saudi Arabia report the heaviest falls in years and below-zero temperatures. In Afghanistan, snow and freezing weather killed 120 people. Even Baghdad had a snowstorm, the first in the memory of most residents.   AFP news reports icy temperatures have just swept through south China, stranding 180,000 people and leading to widespread power cuts just as the area was recovering from the worst weather in 50 years, the government said Monday. The latest cold snap has taken a severe toll in usually temperate Yunnan province, which has been struck by heavy snowfalls since Thursday, a government official from the provincial disaster relief office told AFP.   Twelve people have died there, state Xinhua news agency reported, and four remained missing as of Saturday.

 

An ongoing record-long spell of cold weather in Vietnam's northern region, which started on Jan. 14, has killed nearly 60,000 cattle, mainly bull and buffalo calves, local press reported Monday. By Feb. 17, the spell had killed a total of 59,962 cattle in the region, including 7,349 in the Ha Giang province, 6,400 in Lao Cai, and 5,571 in Bac Can province, said Hoang Kim Giao, director of the Animal Husbandry Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, according to the Pioneer newspaper.   In Britain the temperatures plunged to -10 C in central England, according to the Express, which reports that experts say that February could end up as one of the coldest in Britain in the past 10 years with the freezing night-time conditions expected to stay around a frigid -8 C until at least the middle of the week. And the BBC reports that a bus company's efforts to cut global warming emissions have led to services being disrupted by cold weather.

 

Meanwhile Athens News reports that a raging snow storm that blanketed most of Greece over the weekend and continued into the early morning hours on Monday, plunging the country into sub-zero temperatures. The agency reported that public transport buses were at a standstill on Monday in the wider Athens area, while ships remained in ports, public services remained closed, and schools and courthouses in the more severely-stricken prefectures were also closed.   Scores of villages, mainly on the island of Crete, and in the prefectures of Evia, Argolida, Arcadia, Lakonia, Viotia, and the Cyclades islands were snowed in.   More than 100 villages were snowed-in on the island of Crete and temperatures in Athens dropped to -6 C before dawn, while the coldest temperatures were recorded in Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina, where they plunged to -12 C.   Temperatures in Athens dropped to -6 C before dawn, while the coldest temperatures were recorded in Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina, where they plunged to -12 C.

 

If global warming gets any worse we'll all freeze to death

- In order to open "slots" in the White House for her friends the Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for 'gross mismanagement' and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.
 - Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the 'bimbo eruption squad' and scandal defense:
 ---- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.
 ---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.
 ---- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.
 --- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury
 ---- And Bill was impeached by the House.
 ---- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, 'I do not recall,' 'I have no recollection,' and 'I don't know' 56 times un der oath).
 - Hillary wrote 'It Takes a Village,' demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.
 - Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.
 - Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, China, and artwork she had stolen.
 - In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the 'woman card' by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.
 - Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)
  - As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
 - Hillary's one notable vote; supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed.

 Quite a resume’. Sounds more like an organized crime family’s rap sheet.

Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified Candidate for president based on her 'record,' which she says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or 'co-president' - and her seven years in the Senate.
Here is a reminder of what that record includes:
 - As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Patrick Moynihan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she wo uld 'demonize' anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.)
