I took my kids out today for ice cream and then we went to the park so they could play for a while. When we got to the the playground it was pretty empty and really nice. I let the kids run around and play and then all of the kids from the day camp that the parks department runs came over to the equipment and started to play. I called my girls over and told them that we had fifteen more minutes to play and then we had to go home. After a few minutes of watching them and seeing how rude the kids were I thought it was time to go home. Just the same time I was thinking this my girls came over and said they were ready to go they couldn't do anything because the other kids were in their way. Now hearing the words those kids are rude come out of a 6 year olds mouth kind of shocked me and then to watch the camp counselors running around and acting just as childish as the kids were really got to me. Maybe I am just too hard on my kids and teach them to many manners, but the more and more I take my kids out places and watch how the other kids interact with them I often wonder if parents just teach their kids to be rude.

Oh I think kids are alot ruder then they were even when I was a kid.A kid can be what we think is mean to were they are just being truthful of their feeling. But they alot of them don't know how to share or take turns any more and I think it is because they get what ever they want at home and take it into public.Hopefully they will turn in to caring adults.

Yeah, I totally agree. There aren't bad kids just lousy parents who fail to discipline. Some kids need more, some less, but the parents need to be parents and quit trying to be peers.

I think kids learn a lot of rudeness (and other bad things) from TV, movies, other kids, and sometimes adults. If the parents don't teach them any differently, they don't know any better.

I was at Walgreens the other day. There was a mom with her two daughters under the age of 5. She was checking out and the girls were taking polish and make-up off the shelves and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Mom wasn't even watching them like she should in this day and age. I wouldn't take my eyes off my kids today.

I wish these parents would just take the time to teach their children. It'll only get worse when they're older if they don't do it now.. too bad they don't realize that.

I would agree, kids are down right rude these days. No respect and lack of respect for authority.

The general behavior of society does not motivate anyone to think past his or her own perception of the initial situation. We don’t encourage finding perspectives outside our own. We do encourage identifying someone at fault, accident or not. We are quick to point the finger and blame the easiest (or most popular) target without knowledge of facts, details, or circumstances. This superficial stance on life results in rude, self-important behavior and reinforces that real understanding and finding solutions are not important. Only finding someone to fault and punish is a sufficient enough reaction. Kids are societies reflection, which means we all have the opportunity to change what we see in the mirror. The first step is to take an honest look in the mirror, stop blaming others. Change starts first with us.

IneedUrHelp.... I hope you don't think that I teach my kids to point fingers at what everyone else is doing. I teach them to the best of my knowledge to take responsibility for their actions and they know what right from wrong is. To say that I need to change my self first is absolutely absurd. When I am sitting and watching children play and be ugly towards each other and spit off of the top of a playground onto other children that to me is WRONG! If their parents aren't teaching them what right from wrong is then that is their problem to deal with down the road, but I know what I teach my children. I posted this blog as a little vent and to see what others think of this. I am not saying that all parents teach their kids to be rude and I should have reworded that, but I often wonder how many people teach their kids what respect is and how to teat others. My motto with my kids is treat others the way you want to be treated. I once heard that to appreciate the good, you have to experience the crap

Lilmomma, Their parents weren't there otherwise I would have. They were in a day camp. I did however mention to someone who works at the Parks department that the employees they were paying were sitting on their cell phones instead of watching the kids.

My name is Katie and I have 3 amazing kids who keep me very busy! I enjoy going to the Lake of the Ozarks, swimming, taking my kids to the park and whatever else I can find for us to do, going to Cardinals and Blues games, I love to be outside during the summer, but during the winter you will find me hiding inside somewhere. The cold and I don't get along. In whatever free time I can find I like to hang out with my friends, go shopping and I love to go dancing.
