Kats~

Yesterday I received a phone call from my grandmother saying that a little boy across the cove from their house at the lake of the ozarks had fallen in and drowned. It was so sickening to hear her say this. I know that when we go to the lake we always watch our kids, but all it takes is one time and they could be gone. Please make sure your kids know to where their life jackets at all times when around the water. Everyone down there always seems to want to watch everyones kids, but my saying is that if everyone is watching them then NO one is.

So sad antsmomie. It only takes a second for kids to get away from you. Please pay attention.Randi did a segment on this very thing this morning.Life savers that fit the kids. Not an adult one on a kid. That childs family are in my prayers.Just so sad.

It is very hard Jeanette. My grandpa is friends with this family. He didn't know the child he was a relative of the people who own the house. I take my kids every year to get fitted for PFD's. I guess that growing up on the water and watching my own brother fall in makes me a little extra cautious.

Its heart breaking when a child happens to meet the shine earlier than we want. Summertime is happening and the pools, lakes, rivers, etc are busy with so many people trying to stay cool. It only takes a few seconds for your child to run from you or for anything to happen.

The other day a little boy was hit by a truck in front of our postoffice. Its a blink of the eye and they are hear then gone. Cherish every moment and keep teaching your children safety issue.

I had 10 kids Saturday night in the pool, plus we had a bonfire, so I had to keep my eyes peeled, plus making sure all the kids are on the buddy alert.

Its hard not for that family but for yours as well Kats, because you knew the little boy. Sorry to hear about his misfurtune, and may the Sun shine bright from here on.

Thanks Perky for the comment. I actually don't know the little boy. I have met a few of the kids from the family once or twice because they like to come over to our dock and jump off the dive platform on our dock. Regardless of if I know them or not it was a reality check for everyone in my family who goes down there.

I feel bad about it and wounder why nobody was watching him...I am not aloud to go in the pool unless mom or dad are with me..I gasp for breath and there is no warring when it happends. Once I was in the pool and underwater when I gasped for breath. I came up but had trouble breathing. Dad did something I not know what it called and I was breathing better..

I hate to break it to ya Dwight but this happened on a private dock off their own house (or one they were staying at). So it does not happen just at party cover or other sites like that.. All it takes is one moment to turn your back and bam something could happen. It is so important that ANYONE that can not swim or a child should have one the proper life vest. I go down every year with my family to a friends place and we take little children with us, and none of them are allowed even on the dock without a parent or an adult that can swim.

newmommy...we have that same rule..all kids on the boat dock or on our decking around the pool have to wear a life vest or arm floaties...

newmommy and goots....that is so true. All 3 of our kids wear their life jackets on our boat, in the water, on my parents dock anywhere near the water. You have no clue what could happen and plus children are so darn quick...one second they are right behind ya and the next they seem like they are 50 yards away. It is so much better to be safe than sorry. I feel so badly for that family and they are in my prayers.

The Lake of the Ozarks is known for party cove dwight but as newmommy said, this was on a private dock in a cove.....

My name is Katie and I have 3 amazing kids who keep me very busy! I enjoy going to the Lake of the Ozarks, swimming, taking my kids to the park and whatever else I can find for us to do, going to Cardinals and Blues games, I love to be outside during the summer, but during the winter you will find me hiding inside somewhere. The cold and I don't get along. In whatever free time I can find I like to hang out with my friends, go shopping and I love to go dancing.
