Someone made the comment to me that since I am a stay at home mom I can't really have that busy of a schedule and how easy my life must be. That statement that was made really rubbed me the wrong way. I guess until you have done it you have no idea as to what it is like. I am by no means complaining in this blog about being a stay at home mom because I love what I do and am very blessed to be able to stay at home. Just to give those of you who have no clue as to what it is like, I will give you a little run down on a week in my house. Everyday we get up have breakfast do school work for a hour or so. Yes I know it is summer, but I don't want her to forget what she has learned. Snack, then outside, nap for the baby, lunch, usually in the afternoon we go to the pool, park, or some other activity. Tues, Wed, and Thurs. We have gymnastics during the evening. Friday is usually a family night or a birthday party. Somewhere in all of this I still have to make time to go to the grocery store, cook dinner, and clean. I have been told to cut some things out of my schedule, but I just can't seem to do that. Being busy is something I love to do and how boring is it to just sit and do nothing all day.  I can't really explain fully what it is like, but I know that I would like to tell others who have no idea what it is like think before you speak and try to put yourself in these shoes. It isn't a walk in the park, but it is very rewarding to get to see my kids grow up and take their first steps or flood the kitchen for the first time! I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it is not as easy as some people think it is.

Very good blog Kats. I was going to say you know you just sit and eat bon bons...but you already heard that joke...and joke it is. Motherhood and being a stay at home mom is an awesome priviledge. I know an educator with a masters degree that decided to come home to be with her children. You are right about the first everything, the first smile, step, moving from bottles to baby food. As a provider for working moms, I feel really sad for them when it is me that gets their babies first. I take pics and even on occassion try to take video for them. All the task of caring for a home and children is hard work. Rewarding but hard. Don't let anyone lessen what you do everyday. I am sure that you are a great mother!!!
The old saying the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world is right...You get to instill your value system and your love.
Kuddos to a blog about a very important topic.

Just a stay at home mom? Be happy. I wish there were more! I grew up with a stay at home mom. She did volunteer work on the side and fundraising but was there for us and I would not trade it for the world. She and my father are retired now and can't see how they got all the thing they did when he was working and we were being raised they had time to do other things. So I applaud you and your children will thank you when they are older. I keep telling mine it all the time!

Great Blog girlfriend! :)
Being a Mom today takes on a whole new meaning! Stay at home Mom? How much do you really stay at home? Moms today spend time at home cleaning, doing laundry, wiping up dirty faces, and then off to the current events for the day! Being a mom is the most rewarding job I have ever had! From a Medical Assistant, Nuclear Medicine department manager and assistant, Massage Therapist, and now a full time MOM! Working at home with my Mom business, I love being able to be there for all the firsts!
Guess what!? Because I'm a MOM I was able to meet YOU! Once again "Thank you Fox2" for bringing this community together and giving us Mom's a place to share our thoughts & meet some amazing people! Peace out baby~ Jana

Stay at home moms work very hard and do a lot in just one day. You are right people who never did it have no idea. But if they would think back when they was kids and if there mom was a stay at home mom they remember what all she did. In one day you do brefast, lunch and dinner you clean house including the bathroom not to forget laundry sweeping and dusting. You take care of the kids brake up any fights between them at time entrtaine them and sometimes there friends too. If you have very little ones you bath and dipper them. Finaly after they are all in bed asleep you finly can sit down and take a breath. I help around the house becauseI asked if I could both parents work. Mom taught me how to do laundry so i do that and clean up and dust. I brake up a cat and dog fight about every day and feed the 2 cats and the dog.I take my dog out to potty morning 2 times in aftrnoon and after dinner. Dad takes him out at night before he leaves for work. Sometime I don't do anything but take care the animals,if I not feel up to doing anything i don't but wil help my mom when she does it after dinner. Yes it is hard work that you do and you get payed very well for it with lots of love from your family.......

I've been a stay at home mom for 21 years and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It's actually like getting a second chance to live your life through your kids. My days were never boring. Just remember a stay at home mom is a nurse, counselor, domestic engineer, teacher, chef, mediator, and transportation official. That's a heck of a lot of degrees in one title. The pay isn't great but how do you put a pricetag on the benefits of your family?

Sorry to say that it's just not popular anymore to stay at home and raise your kids. Don't you know that everyone HAS to have two incomes so they can have a nice new house, new cars and brand name clothes?

This is the new age of "self" and I'm SICK of it! They've sold their kids down the river without a paddle! I know, I used to work full time when I had my first son and I missed out on SO much that I will NEVER get back!

antsmomie, you are doing the MOST important job of all! You are answering God's call to raise your children and keep your home. I know it's a sacrifice, financially. But the devil has lied to so many women in making them think they must have it all. What is "it all"? It's STUFF, plain and simple, just STUFF! Things that will pass away and amount to nothing in the long run!

I homeschool my 10 year old son and also have a 3 year old son. There is no timeclock here at home and my work is NEVER done! I work a 14 hour day BUT I receive great wages and benefits! My kids are the greatest treasures that God has given me here on earth. It is MY job to raise them and train them up in the way they should go so that they will not depart from it. Their future is what is important to me. I am also more than happy to serve my husband. And, NO, he is not an overlord. He's the best husband ever and he deserves all of my full support at home. If the world calls it "JUST a stay at home mom", so be it. I'm proud of this job position!

Darlin' girl, you just love every single second you have with those precious children. They really do grow up way too fast and you can't get those days back. Know that there are TONS of us out here who know the work you do is incredibly important and affects the world in ways the "workforce" never will!!

Whomever said that to you, Kats, hasn't been a stay-at-home mom.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to explain what you do, all you can do is smile and shake your head...lol

My name is Katie and I have 3 amazing kids who keep me very busy! I enjoy going to the Lake of the Ozarks, swimming, taking my kids to the park and whatever else I can find for us to do, going to Cardinals and Blues games, I love to be outside during the summer, but during the winter you will find me hiding inside somewhere. The cold and I don't get along. In whatever free time I can find I like to hang out with my friends, go shopping and I love to go dancing.
