Rest in Peace??? He does not deserve peace. He committed a crime! Thank goodness he did not kill anyone else with his foolish, selfish actions!

I don't act as though he was a poor victim. He played the game and payed the price.

I hope this is an eye opener that we are not invincible. And that drinking, drugs and driving just do not mix, sorry Josh didn't get the help he so desperately need. He will be missed.Let us not forget he has family that is grieving not matter what.

Why do people think he "needed help?" HE needed to spend some of his obscene salary on a taxi. He enjoyed getting drunk and stoned and he was a single white male adult with a supposed brain. He had a big paycheck and a fun fun lifestle. Get a driver or a taxi if you party hardy!

I agree with several comments on here. I think that it is time now that we know the answers to let Josh rest in peace. I agree that he should have taken the taxi that he was offered because he could have killed someone and thank God he didn't. I know Josh was wealthy as all ball players but anyone that is planning on drinking all night should make arrangements on getting home. There are so many innocent people on the road and they don't deserve to die because of your thinking that you are ok to drive.

Wow, harsh disrespectfull words for a dead soul that hurt no other. Heavy speculations spit out with the conviction of judgment without even a trial or judged by god. Who are you! Hiding, spitting venom.

Would Jo Nobody from Nowhere, USA have gotten such forgiveness? Such understanding?
Would he have gotten flowers and stuffed animals by the truckfull when he drove drunk? How about a news conference that made a bigger deal out of how great a person he was even thou he was driving drunk?

A drunk is a drunk. Overpriced ball player or your average redneck. No difference.

The only thing worth mentioning in respect to this guy was that he killed only himself with his selfish and careless behavior.

I agree 100% with you sarcasticdragon. It makes no difference who you are. Drinking & driving is illegal for ALL.

STILL, my prayers go out to his family who I'm sure are saddened by this...but then my prayers go out to anyones family that loses a loved one to this foolish act.

stephan,i have been saying excatly what you are saying.he was a human being, and did not deserve to die,he made a mistake and paid for it with his life.to say such mean things about someone who is gone and can't even defend themself is horrible.:(

Babylove, I actually agree with you on something. We all agree he was wrong to do what he did, but we should never be happy that he died for his mistake. That is also wrong!

I also agree with sarcasticdragon 100%.

It's very sad - but he did it to himself and thank god no one else was hurt. I do not think he should be labeled as a hero. I do think he's story should be used.... I can't happen to anyone.

I am a victim of a drunk driver that lived through it and lost someone because of this terrible crime that many do everyday!

He doesn't deserve the heros respect that the media gave him. He was druck, speeding, no seat belt and no concern for the laws in place. He is a criminal like anyone else that would have done that. If the media supports athetics as american heros, I feel soory for them.

It's obvious that those of you with such sharp mouths and unforgiving attitudes have NEVER done anything wrong!!! Like all of us, Josh Hancock, was HUMAN and made a mistake which he has paid the ultimate price. What happened is tragic and makes for a learning experience, but non of us are devine and have the right to talk about anyone like this...If this were your son would you be sitting back and taking this lashing....I highly doubt it...Act like grown ups and quit slandering the dead...

Those without sin - cast the first stone!!! GRRRRRR self-induced righteousness makes me GAG! Sure he screwed up - shall we exhume him so yall can throw stones at his corpse? That's just exactly what some of you are doing!

I am saddened that we have lost another great ball player. My heart goes out to his family, I cannot imagine the pain that they are feeling right now. It upsets me to see so many speaking ill of the dead. The man made a mistake, just because he was a public figure it does not make him any less of a human, and he paid with his life. Who are we to judge him, that should be left to God. How many of you can honestly say that you never "had a few" and drove home, only to think to yourself "I really sholdn't have driven, thank god I made it ok." I know that I have, and I learned a lesson from that. I think we should let his soul rest in peace, send our prayers out to his family, and pray that the next person thinks twice about getting behind the wheel. As long as there are vehicles and alcohol, this is going to be a problem. Instead of casting stones, we should spend our spare time trying to educate, the problem will never end, but maybe we can slow it down a little bit.

My name is Katie and I have 3 amazing kids who keep me very busy! I enjoy going to the Lake of the Ozarks, swimming, taking my kids to the park and whatever else I can find for us to do, going to Cardinals and Blues games, I love to be outside during the summer, but during the winter you will find me hiding inside somewhere. The cold and I don't get along. In whatever free time I can find I like to hang out with my friends, go shopping and I love to go dancing.
