Kats~

So with summer rapidly approaching I have noticed quite a few very tan people around.  I admit I do like to tan just to get a little jump on summer, but alot of the woman I have seen walking around have skin that just looks like leather from going to the tanning beds to much. Does anyone else notice this? What are your thoughts on this subject?

Let everyone do whatever they want. Who cares if they get too tan.
Same with hair. Hair means nothing, its just how you feel with it.
I wear my hair longer, and I get comments. Such as, you would look so cute with your hair short. Of course they always have hair, at the longest 2-3 inches long. Let everyone do what ever they want to do. I don't care.

I think you can get too much sun, my sister is six years younger than me and she loves the sun and she has a lot more wrinkles than I do. JMO

i used to go to a tanning place until i got ringworm from the bed it was gross

now i just let the sun do it naturally with sunsrceen of course

i think to much tanning makes people look older than they are

like to much make-up it is not natural

so please all take care of your skin so you dont end up with skin cancer like my father in law

it is the only skin you have

I think a little is not bad, but there are those who go everyday and never think they are dark enough. It is ugly actually. Makes new wrinkles and makes all the other wrinkles really stand out.

Oh dear...those pictures are of real people!

Some people just do too much of everything/anything.....maybe they're the too-toos.

I get some sun on me when I'm out in the yard or garden. If it gets on me okay, and if it doesn't, that's okay too.

Hi antsmomie....missed talking witcha the other night!

(I still can't believe those pictures!) LOL

Too much sun, when you are not wearing protection, is not a good thing and does lead to excess wrinkles and could lead to skin cancer. I've got just enough indian in me to be able to get a georgous tan; however, I don't any longer, at least other than just being out for the day in the yard or at a gathering. I remember when a teen we'd use baby oil and iodine mixture to "get it going". Usually meant a mean burn, but we got over it.

There are suppose to be restrictions on how often one can enter a tanning bed, but many people will get memberships at several tanning salons so they can skip around the rules. At least in Missouri.

Jana . . . that picture was sooooooooo gross!

I think the risk of skin cancer really out weighs the benefits of looking good in a Bathing suit ..i'll take a healthy pale girl over charcoal cooked leather face anyday ...

I used to tan, but my b/f made me stop. His brother is a 5th year at STL-COP.

Anyway, now I mystic tan. (http://www.mystictan.com/)

It works just as well as a bed, but no side effects (since it's spray on). Plus it only takes 5 minutes every 1-2 weeks. I love it!

I know most, if not all, STL Tan Co. have mystic tan.

I heard from someone that a session in the tanning bed was the same as 6 HOURS of laying out in natural light!!!!

Actually, it is a disease now. They call it tanorexia. I had to do a presentation on it my last semester in college -- right after my second surgery to remove my skin cancer.

Wishes, know what you mean. I myself might have been tanorexic, as you say, but only in younger days. (We now know that's all it takes.) Although never did the tanning beds, spent much time at Riviera-(my sister and future brother-in law were lifeguards and got me in free), Springdale Park & Pool, Green Acres Pool (all Fenton), Mineral Springs Pool(Valley Park) and more. Then lived walking distance from a beach in Florida. Most recently swim at Riverchase in Fenton, but for exercise, not sunning! Fortunately, don't (yet)look like a dried-up prune. Still, these pictures are frightful and hopefully can serve as warnings.-Best wishes for your health!

My name is Katie and I have 3 amazing kids who keep me very busy! I enjoy going to the Lake of the Ozarks, swimming, taking my kids to the park and whatever else I can find for us to do, going to Cardinals and Blues games, I love to be outside during the summer, but during the winter you will find me hiding inside somewhere. The cold and I don't get along. In whatever free time I can find I like to hang out with my friends, go shopping and I love to go dancing.
