Truthguys's Blog

Since I think you Bloggers are Smart and helpful and have a variety of views and experiences, I really need as much final input in a couple things that I have been talking about for a while and now ready to roll.... you wouldnt believe the legal loopholes involved.

Here is what I have in mind.. you tell me how to improve, add or subtract.  I want neigborhood offices who can be responsible for a "grid' of homes, families, etc.  IN each of these centers, I want to make sure people can come in for help with money, food, jobs, health, etc.  If someone has trouble with grocerys getting in the home, we can assist them ( I have been there where I wasnt sure if I had money for food).  Or in case of Crime areas, we will set patrols, assist with kids who have parents who want them to change from Zero to Hero and change from a thug to a person they can be proud of.

In some low income communitys in our long fact finding of 2007-8, we learned that many people have no clue how to be parents, be employed, or have a clue how to live day to day.... it is a shame and this is perpetuating year after year.  Abuse follows abuse and crime follows crime.

In these centers which could number hundreds in a city, it would be the starting point of links to help... the main TruthGuys Foundation (called something else when ready), will have the jobs, the money, the councelors, the attorneys, and any resourse to help.  The only condition is that anyone who gets help will have to help others too.  No leaches allowed.   That is something I am concerned with.  I dont think it helps to hand out money with one hand and people doing nothing to improve.

I seen this happen first hand in the Katrina New Orleans disaster.  I flew in supplies and when I saw people we helped standing around doing nothing we asked for them to help distribute food, water, etc.... they did nothing but sit and not a thank you out of anyone.   I asked many of the USAF guys if they experienced the same... and they said the people were so used to welfare checks and help, they had no clue how to live like the rest of us.  I vowed not to enable this.

SO I need your help in how YOU would run such help centers.   I need accountablity but yet a way people can go to not be ashamed of getting help or reluctant to get help.  In a segment of CBSNEWS last night they showed a girl who was a waitress and while making $200 a week barely, she has bare kitchen cabinets... this in W Virginia... sad.  ANd then when I see kids poor too... I lose it.  I might see if I can post this report here. They show a 30 sec commercial I am sure.

Any ideas will be appreciated... You are all SMART

One thing I like about Habitat is you have to work x number of hours before you become eligible for your house.

I think a similar, but expanded concept can work here. Be it volunteering at an animal shelter, helping with meals on wheels preparing the food, school crossing guards (often crossings are not protected due to funding), providing after school supervision for working parents...whatever the cause, they could earn "points" for what they are doing and how many hours a week based on their specific situation.

Based on the points earned a week/month, I would then determine what they have "earned" as far as help.

Handicapped, elderly, on welfare or disability, there are things ANYONE can do to help the community, may just take a bit of brainstorming.

My 2 cents worth... (Aimhigh)

What is up with the video. I kept hitting the replay button, and kept getting commercials. Was there supposed to be more to the video?

You know if no one thanked you for the help you gave the people of New Orleans, I will say thank you for them. Some people were never educated in giving and thanking others. Maybe your programs can show them how to PAY IT FORWARD. Good luck!

Truthguys..I am not sure what it is you want. I will say that putting up substations in and around ALL CENTRAL FLORIDA and if possible the entire state...CAN ONLY BE A GOOD THING for the crime and keep the rest clear.........If I can be of service please you know where to reach me. I did plenty of community service. Now, regarding giving out welfare? you lost me....I think help should be giving DEFINATELY TO ELDERLY; HANDICAPPED AND those just into the area until they settle in. I have seen too many times where people that you think are shy are the same ones trying to get over on free sheit..I have to be tough cause I don't appreciate seeing a young person or semi young sitting around waiting for hand outs..there are jobs out there and people need to learn how to fend for themselves, while I can also sympathize with the hard working mom and making ends meet every bit helps. I need more information on exactly what your get up is going to be but just know, you have my two hands and feet at your service.

Truthguys, I don't think you're looking for answers in the right place. I realize many people didn't say thank you, but don't be misled on how people really felt for the help that was given. Just try putting the "shoe on the other foot" for just a minute, if it were you or I sitting there waiting as long as they did for help, our frustration would have appeared as if we were ungrateful as well. If we always required a "thank you" from people, we would never find ourselves helping each other out. Just keep in mind, even though they may have been collecting welfare or not, they lost everything. Many of them were just plain hot, tired, and devastated for loosing everything, and more so their loved ones. So I think many of these people were in fact grateful.

You have a lot of wonderful ideas, but to be honest, you should send people out to the areas you're talking about in helping. Hear it 1st hand from them, not people who have never been there and can only speculate as to what they need. You would be surprised in how many people would volunteer their time as much as they can in helping to clean up their community, and helping those around them in need, especially if someone like yourself is willing to give them a chance that no one else has. It would be profitable to utilize these people that society has thrown away. I would bet that most of these people are afraid to ask for help or their pride gets in the way, because instead of these same people being allowed to help or contribute in any way, they are looked down upon, and relentlessly trashed by people who are

not in their situation. So in essence their voice is squashed before it has a chance to help offer up solutions. Therefore, their attitude becomes one of "why bother, I'm in the system, no one cares, so I'll just stay here!" Self esteem in many of these individuals are gone, what's a good way in getting it back by allowing them to be part of the solution, to hear their voice, and show that even they can make a difference? There are many organizations that already do what you're talking about, however the biggest mistake I see with these organizations as they become providers only, therefore enabling the situation, not helping it. I haven't seen one of them enlist the help of the individuals they are trying to help, therefore teaching those who want to help, any type of method in which to do so. So my advice, listen to the people who are already there, I bet you would be surprised by the intelligence they would have to offer.

And in what you're asking above, my ability to offer any advice would require too much detail in length. You are in essence asking for comments on a "business" plan and I don't have enough room to outline one here. So if you are really interested in what I could offer let me know. Otherwise, get yourself in the community and get them involved. We have several family owned businesses, one of which I own personally and is really starting to take off again, it's kind of hard to describe here. So to try to sum it up, I go in to failing businesses, restructure what is needed, and teach the owners everything they need to know in order to maintained their business on a successful level, including teaching them how to maintain their employees and what to watch for. Now a days you'd be surprised how many companies are going under because of undetected fraud of the employees. Before I went into the family businesses, I was in the medical field for quite some time (if I told you how long, you'd know my age..lol) then, little over two years ago, I set that business aside, because I had cancer to deal with for two years, I toyed with the idea of just letting it go, but just recently in helping one company that was referred to me by a relative, in really bad condition, word of mouth has my business starting to take off again and I have companies contacting me as far away as Miami, and Brandenton. So if anything, word of mouth and setting the example, you'd be surprised what you could accomplish by seeking out the advice of the individuals you are wanting to help. Regardless of which

Regardless of which way you go, I wish you luck with this endeavor, because having someone to accomplish this in the manner needed is going to be difficult, but it can be done.
