Help me out here.  I need some good, simple hummus recipes.  I have a decent recipe for a plain and basic hummus.  It's actually quite good... but I am growing tired of it.  Do any of you have some good, easy to make recipes you would be willing to share with me (and the rest of the world?)

Here's a hummus variation that I just found online that really sounds great.  The blogger says this recipe makes a LOT of hummus... so you might wanna cut it down.

Thai Curry Honey Hummus

2.5 lbs cooked garbanzo beans (1 lbs garbanzo beans soaked and boiled makes about 2.5 lbs cooked beans)
2 tbls. chopped garlic
¾ cups tahini
1 tbls Curry paste – Thai curry paste –
¼ cup lemon juice
¾ cup water
½ cup honey
1 tbls. salt
1 tsp white pepper
1 tbls. Madras curry powder
1 tsp garlic powder
½ Tsp cumin
¼ tsp nutmeg

Combine in a food processor and spin away!

I almost forgot... here's the really good, basic recipe I use:

Hummus

3 tablespoons lemon juice (or the juice from two lemons)
1/4 cup water
6 Tbsp Tahini
2 Tbsp olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1 15-oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed (a handful of chickpeas reserved)
3 garlic cloves, peeled
1/2 teaspoon course salt, plus more to taste
1/4 teaspoon cumin
dash of cayenne
2 Tbsp cilantro, chopped

Combine the lemon juice and water in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk the Tahini and olive oil together until smooth.

Process the chickpeas, garlic, salt, cumin, and cayenne in a food processor until almost fully ground, about 15 seconds. Scrape down the bowl. With the food processor running, stream in the lemon and water and process for one minute. Scrape down the bowl again. Turn the food processor on and stream in the Tahini and oil mixture and process until smooth, about another minute.

Transfer the hummus to a bowl, cover and refrigerate for an hour to let flavors blend.

Ohhhhh, Now THAT sounds really good! I make my own hummus too. I like it spread on toasted pita, with tabbouleh along with it.

Hey Deborah... I make a lot of wraps and use my homemade hummus instead of a condiment.

I cannot wait to try out this Thai Curry Honey Hummus recipe!

Hummus wraps are fire...lol
Use some roasted peppers in your reg recipe and it comes out like a cold and fresh mexican burrito...(sprouts,cukes, romaine, more reds, tomato, red onion) great seller!

Try different beans also, Black Beans work well.
Don't forget the Pita Chips and Tostones...

Hummus? Seriously, UGA ... it's fourth of July ... lets talk BBQ!!! Yummy! Oh, Tom ... sorry about UGA (the dawg) - he wasn't that old, was he?

A big howdy from Houston, TX by the way! :) I'm doing just fine. Still homeless! We'll move into our house the end of July.

I miss all of you guys, but my new team is taking good care of me! We do a 4 hour morning show here at FOX Houston too. I'm slowly figuring out when to go get coffee, when to eat and go to the bathroom - all important, as you know!

Take care ... and we'll be talking (probably smack) come college football season!

Sunny Skies,
Kristi (aka Gator) :)

Hummus is awesome. I actually like mine spicy so I think I would like the Thai Curry Honey Hummus.

I pretty much make the standard hummus that you have hear with a few differences I don't use as much garlic as you but the Cilantro! I love Cilantro! I also love it spicey so I also will add some hot sauce to the mix (Tapaitio is my favorite for mixing with beans) to give it a kick once in awhile.

One 15 ounce can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained reserved

Grated zest of 1 lemon
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 cups of Tahini
1/4 cup virgin olive oil
Pinch of Salt or too taste,
Pinch of Cayenne pepper to taste
Cilantro A big pinch of freshly minced Cilantro!
***Optional***
Put in a couple squirts of Tapatio to give even more kick.

Like Gorrila said about using different beans, black beans and kidney beans make great substitutes for garbanzo beans (for those that dont know, chick peas and garbanzo beans are one in the same.) Of course I never called it hummus to me it was just refried beans. This is awesome for a spread on a soft tortilla shell. I heat my shells directly on a burner, wait till it's red hot then carefully drag the shell over the burner till it shows a few scorch marks flip it over and do the otherside making sure to get both halves. Quick and easy and tastes much better than microwaving them.

As for BBQ! I got me some brauts, chicken and steak for tomorrow! Going to try to make some, jerk chicken and some good ol' fashioned BBQ steak's for the 4th. Decided to forgo hot dogs this year.

Hey Kristi... or should I say Hey Gator! It's SO good to hear from you. Sorry we missed each other on the cell phones the other week. We miss you a lot around here. It's great to hear things are going well for you out there in Texas.

As for "Uga"... he was two weeks short of his 10th birthday. I'm told that's a long life for an English bulldog. As the Bulldog Nation says... he was a "damn good dawg" and it's sad to see him gone.

Come see us some time when you get the hankerin' to see a Gators game in person!

I never even tried hummus before until I met my wife from the Middle East. We were at a Lebonese restaurant before we got married and I tried it for the first time. Now I'm hooked. I even use it for a dip with chips etc. I love to cook so PLEASE keep any and all recipes coming. I've been afraid to attempt making it and if you want good hummus it is so expensive in the stores.

Ladybug... try it... you'll like it. The store brand I prefer is Sabra. You can usually find it in the deli case.

If you'd rather whip up a batch yourself... start with the 2nd recipe above. It's easy and very tasty. I would recommend 3 TBL of Tahini instead of 6 though. Let me know what you think.

I almost forgot... I made the Thai Curry Honey Hummus this week. It is very tasty. However... I think it's more of a party dip kind of recipe. It has a tangy, sweet/hot taste so I don't think it's gonna be great for everyday use in wraps and that kind of thing. But again... it is very good for dipping.
