We’ve started a new feature this week being highlighted by our very own Rick Lozano as “Empire Man.”

He’s asking you to send in your suggestions on places we should visit in the Inland Empire.

I think a wonderful idea would be to do a story on the homeless encampment in South Ontario on Grove and State Street. They could use such much support on all levels. Physical, spiritual and emotional levels.Local 12-step groups and churches do the best they can to help but i believe public awareness of their plight might really benefit them, especially during the upcoming holidays.

I saw you this morning..was good.
I want to try it too but...
reason I am writing this is...You were in too hurry...You..forget to put your "seat belt on"

Good morning Rick :). FINALLY! The IE gets some recognition as a news media source!

Well as you know the IE is HUGE, and there are many places to explore and do stories on. I thought you might to explore some of the BEST restaurants in the heart of the IE, Riverside.

Now these are places I have been going to since I was about 9 or 10 years old, and I am now just about 34...going on 50 something!

First off, my favorite place hands down, has got to to be the IE's BEST Thai food restaurant. It's a simple place, on Magnolia Ave, just East of Tyler. It is called "Oriental Cuisine". You cannot miss with their fantastic array of original Thai cuisine. Make sure to get the Tom Yum/Hot and Sour soup, some egg rolls, and their Thai Fried Rice. My personal favorite from the menu is their garlic and pepper beef...and I pour that atop a huge plate of Thai fried rice. Just don't have a date that night!

Now for the best Pizza and Italian food in town, there's no other choice then Pietro's in the Brockton arcade. Off of Brockton, North of Arlington. You simply cannot find a better Italian restaurant, and hands down, their Pizza is THE best!

Right in the same vicinity is a place that is near and dear to my heart. The Backstreet. Wonderful sandwiches and anything and everything you could possibly want to go along with a a delicious lunch. Gorgeous outdoors dinging, lined with beautiful scenery, flora and fauna. It's a must visit.

Finally, last, but not least by any means, is Zacateca's Mexican Restaurant. It's on University, a few blocks west of the 91 freeway. Grea

Finally, last, but not least by any means, is Zacateca's Mexican Restaurant. It's on University, a few blocks west of the 91 freeway. Great food, great owners and employees, great place to go if you have a large party and want to rent out their dining hall.

I saw your racing expose this morning and thought it was great! I'll have to find it, but I know there is an awesome outdoor facility off of Market st. North of the 60 freeway.

Well I hope you can get a chance to enjoy what my family has enjoyed for 4 generations now and we looking forward to introducing our grandkids to them someday!

Take care Rick, I hope you can stay in the IE for a long time!

Love the "EmpireMan" segment ...
Rick should visit Lucile's BBQ, @ the Victoria Gardens. They have some of the best BBQ in the I.E., and with a blues lounge next door, that serves some of the best Mojito's outside of Cuba... It's a great place to be...
Rick your awesome, keep up the good work!

There is a cocktail lounge located on the Chino Airport, called the Chino Airport Lounge. The lounge is located in a building on the airport that was an administrative housing facility during WW II. The County of San Bernardino has decided that the Chino Airport Lounge should be closed as the historical building they are housed in is very old. The lounge is full of WW II memoriabila and has been visited by pilots and airplaine enthusiasts from all over the world. The business and airplane owners on the airport do not want the Lounge shut down as it is a source of entertainment and relaxation after of hard day and they have started a petition to keep the Lounge open. The Lounge is also patronized by staff from the 3 local prisons surrounding the airport and local dairymen. We want Empire Man to come visit us so that the public can view the historical beauty of Chino Airport Lounge and the Chino Airport. We are located around on the same property around the corner from the world famous Flo's Cafe and the Chino Planes of Fame Museum.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Empire Man for bringing this new feature to Good Day LA. IE gets a bad rap and even many who live here do not realize what a wonderful place this is to live. There are many great samll businesses throughout the Inland Empire. With the holidays upon us, it would be great to see alternatives to shopping in the malls or going to OC and LA. One great little shop in Riverside is Christmas World. It is on Indiana Just off Tyler, next to 91 fwy. They have been in business for 25 years and have dozens of decorated trees. It is a winter wonderland. We look forward to upcoming reports and hope to learn more about where we live and love.

Hi Rick! I love your spot in the morning news focusing on the IE. I really enjoy finding out about new & different places to go in the IE. I have a special request from you though. I live in the resort community of Canyon Lake. Recently Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, located directly accross the street from our community, had a 1 million dollar major re-model of the whole restaurant & cantina. The place is gorgeous! It has a new enormous bar & dance floor. They have kareoke nightly & bands on the weekend. All of the Steelers games are played on their big screen tv. There are 16 tv's throughout the bar & restaurant. We would love to have you visit our community! Please, please come & check out our gorgeous community!

Definately Visit the Mission Inn in Riverside, they have a gorgeously decorated Hotel during the holiday season, carriage rides drawn by horses, (some look like Cinderella's Carriage). Last year they did Ice Skating in the Market place, built a small ice rink!

A hidden treasure of the Empire is the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona. At the edge of the Fairplex, the museum houses some amazing artifacts of hot rodding culture and how it's affected Southern California.

Please do visit. It's open Wednesday through Sunday.
