Nothing puts me in the mood for the heat like a good old fashioned lemonade stand.

I was driving home from LAX Sunday when I saw this lemonade stand near my home.  I think it's good karma to stop at every kid-run lemonade stand... especially when they're in your neighborhood.  Support your community!  :)

I was tired & grouchy when I spun my car around, but once I drove up, I was met with toothy girly grins asking me whether I wanted, "Sweet or tart?"

What were they raising money for?  They giggled, "No reason!"  They just wanted the experience.  Good enough reason for me.

By the way, I got the sweet & it was delicious.

i tried doing this once when i was a kid. i didnt make a dime. in fact i lost money due to having to pay for all the expenses. i guess it's all about location.

what does tart mean? just wondering. also was it home made freshly squeezed or the powder stuff or was it pre-made? did it come with or without pulp? did they charge any tax?

i notice they are selling it at $1.00 per cup. wow that's alot more then back in the day when it was 10 cents to 50 cents. but the cup looks pretty large so it's worth it. so i guess if they are selling it at a buck per glass and their are 4 of them, that's like a quarter profit for each girl per sale.

well glad they turned that frown upside for ya suzanne. just one more question though. for a extra fee are they willing to spike the lemonade?

samo, is this an interview? :)

it is about location. this was on busy laurel canyon boulevard. location, location, location!

the sweet was pretty tart so i'm sure the tart means your mouth puckers more?

i think they were just covering their expenses. $1.00 isn't bad. inflation has risen quite a bit since the 1920's! kidding! kidding! :)

have a great day

i wouldnt call it a interview, just curious that's all. maybe it's the report side of me. always wanted to be a reporter/journalist.

if i was in the area, i'm pretty sure those girls would have made bank with me. i can never say no to sweet liquids. i'm a sucker for lemonade and soda (especially mexican versions). some are addicted to cig's, some are addicted to booze, others drugs. i'm addicted to soda and lemonade. sweet sweet sugar (drooling like homer simpson).

Uh make sure they have their California sales tax permits, the State and City both hate unlicensed businesses, and don't forget the seizure of business asset's by the IRS if the girls don't file a form on their tax they are collecting. But then again what do you expect when they tax allowances and piggy banks?

Twighlight, I am actually inspired by the world and many great folks out there. Those girls selling lemonade easily brings to mind a Denise the Menace plot...follow?

Twightlight is a hard working person and is inquisitive that they become entangled with a blogger who turns out to want to date them, then they find out the blogger is mob related...UH-OH. Just fictional of course, but everyone and everything inspires me to be creative and when I get criticized for my work, it makes me that much better to create my art. As with other artists, I try consistently to create things, much like "Denise the Menace" and her lemonade stand. Perhaps she lost her mother and has a single dad and because of the news reporter she gets taxed by the IRS, so the reporter dates her dad and they together try to fix the mess. It is always art with me. Besides I am a much more bubbly personality in real life than here...lol

here are 2 stories that i came up with about these lemonade girls.

1. these girls are not really trying to be sweet and innocent. what they are doing is trying to kill and rob people. yeah, they put poison in th lemonade, then follow you back to your car or home and after the person dies, then they rob ya blind. now that's a story. lol.

2. they figure out a way to poison and create the living dead. so after drinking this lemonade you will die, and then come back to life to serve them as one of the living dead army. then they take over the world.

3. what if they claim to be selling lemonade but really it's just a front for selling drugs for the mob, and their parents are being held captive until they make a certain amount of money.

now that's story telling. lol

just wanted to say i know how to count. i had two stories in mind, but then a new one popped in my head and now their are 3 stories ah ah ah ah (like the count from that big bird/cookie monster show. forgot the name of it.) but yup i have cooky ideas in my head all the time. you can't imagine how lil thought i put into things when i come with things.

so your grumpy from coming from vegas? did you lose all of your money? drink and party too hard? or are you sad leaving? lax does suck. so i feel ya there. never been, but hear so many horrible stories.

Do you like a Religous Sci-Fi or a Steampunk or perhaps a straight Sci-Fi that deals with racism, take your pick. BTW because its the net, you can listen off and on as time permits. It's not like you are going to a big Hollywood theater yet! If you like traditional westerns then Skyway Arizona, if you like a Star Wars type of ending with God in the background then it is Thunder Dead, and if you like grubby little Bill collectors like DeVito harassing little old ladies for their mortgage payments then it is Amount Due. If you like poetry check out the L.A. Grudge poems...lol Thanks to mpschunks he or she for posting my work so far.

here's what i would do but its just the businessman in me i would add a tip jar and also sell sunblock at what ever a squirt and it wouldn't hurt to get the girl scouts on your side selling cookies for increased traffic and profits..and if you donate part of your profits to a charity and get some air play by a local news show next thing you know your giving Paul Newman's lemonade a run for its money ..but it has to be natural and totally Californian...GOOD LUCK ..but if they want my business they will have to open a brewery:-}

Suzanne, Crafty makes a great point here. Samo, a better plot might be to show the City Council of L.A. sending out a tax agent to collect fees off the girls. Not so far fetcehed with the worst city council of any city ever in the USA.
