Don't you love that feeling of... I knew them when?  That's how I feel after my story on 22 year old Kina Grannis.

She is a singer/songwriter with a beautiful voice and serious skills.  She entered a Doritos contest and made it to the top 3.  If she wins, her song will play during the Super Bowl.  Oh yeah, & score a contract with Interscope Records.  The same label as 50 Cent & No Doubt.

Kina is from Mission Viejo, graduated from USC & then moved to Austin to sing in cafes and make enough money to squeak by.  Now she has a chance at stardom.  After entering the contest, she scored a manager, so she's already getting noticed.

Kina & her sisters rallied the digg.com community by singing a catchy diddy Kina wrote.  It is so popular, she's affectionately known as Digg Girl.  Click here for the Digg song.

Check out her song Message From Your Heart here!

If you'd like to check out her competition and vote too, go to www.crashthesuperbowl.com.

She has her own website www.twoweeksforkina.com

I am sure I am old enough to be your pop. I liken to remembering the music I grew up with in the 60's. The more I hear today the more I thank God I had the ears and the tunes of the 60's to carry me through. The tunes, the sound, the feel, the lyrics, the groups and the singers were just the damned finest folks ever to create music. When I look back, it was a fortunate time to have music from 1955 through 1974. Yeah there were years where some great tunes arrived, however, the very best songs were in that main time range. They didn't sing songs celebrating the rape of a significant other and killing cops, running people down and lots of sex (something the Ho-Ho-Ho lady would love) see my other blogger topic the 2008 official Fox One Worders...snubbed by the FOX blog admins...

Don't worry blog admins, I am tenacious and will repost it again...unedited. Anyhow, getting back on topic, the music then has lasted the test of time. The more recent songs will not.

Suzanne,

Here's to a local gal who will hopefully make it big in the industry! This is one fun topic you posted. It's definitely going to be fun to hear what happens.

Cheers!
