I've been waiting for inspiration for my first post, and since a bit of "the news" happened to me today, it seems like the perfect way to start.

By the way, you'll see my husband's home video on the Fox11 10 O'Clock News at Ten tonight!

Ok, so this morning, I woke up and heard a screeching noise outside. It sounded like an injured or crying animal. I hate when animals suffer, so I walked outside to see what it was.

My cats tried to follow me into the backyard and I ordered them to go back inside the house, because all sorts of wildlife roam in our area. I knew they could easily become lunch for some wild coyote. I didn't imagine it could get any scarier... but it did!

Since we live in a canyon, there are lots of trees, bushes and nooks to hide in. When I looked up, I saw something moving in a tree and came face to face with a bobcat. I was fascinated for a moment, then my senses came back to me and I ran back inside and yelled for my husband.

He grabbed a videocamera and started recording. He caught the unbelievable shots with his little handheld camera. When the bobcat climbed atop our roof my husband went back inside and we waited, wondering if we should call animal control.

We didn't have much time to wait. The next moment the bobcat was running on our lower deck. I don't know how it got down there so fast. Then - to our surprise - another one came running out of the bushes following right behind. His friend I guess?

I think the bobcats were looking for water, since it's been so incredibly hot lately. I'm definitely considering not putting that koi pond in the backyard now!

After a bit of googling, I've since learned one of the bobcats is a bit famous.. called the Laurel Canyon Bobcat.

Check it out here!

thats really cool! i just live in the suburbs, a couple miles from the hills, but we even get coyotes and racoons. Its amazing how wildlife adapts to their enviroments, even though we've totally changed it.

===============================
I have been through 16 portable room air conditioners in a year, a bit ridiculous.
I have two machines I need to get my money back on, as well as the refund of the high electric bils. I also need to get a new machine that works for me, my current one does not work for me so I suffer severly. Gina Silva has been great but she is super busy. A gentleman called me last Friday but have heard nothing more. Since then I forwarded the same information to Angeledes for Governor, they read it and said right away, boy these guys are ripping people off. I did not get that same sense from the gentleman I spoke with. I have always had great respect for the work you have done as a reporter. I am disabled, do not do well in warmer humid weather, and have feveral seizure worries, and for me an air conditioned room is a safety issue. I need a cooler room yesterday. I re did the information for you to evaluate. Both the companies and Consumer Affairs have been of no help. I hope that you can be of help. It is time to stop companies like Eccono Lnbe and this industry from ripping consumers off.
I appreciate your time and help,
God Bless,
Don Crosby Jr.

Dear Suzanne,
I wanted to thank you ahead of time for your help. I take nothing away from Gina, she is great but she is also bust. Also the person assignrd to my case does not seem to think there are problems bit there are two problems. Furst the machine i have cycles leaving my room stale and stuffy and I feel miserable as a result. Second as I said earlier Angeledes for Gov saw the same evidence and agreed that these peope were ripping consumers off. That is whu I came to you fro a seconfd opinion, and wht I wanted you to call Robby at ange;eded for gov so you can hear why they believe this is hapenng. Also I am just tired of feeling midderable and just wsnt releif.

You kno on your blog a ma nsaid how beautiful you were. That is true you are very beautiful, but yuor inner beauty outshines your outer beauty big time. You seem to have a big heart, Thanks again for taking the time with me.

GOd Blrdd,
Don

Dear Suzanne,

I am in urgent need of your help, not just for me, but for all consumers. As temperatures rise we all rush to get something to cool our environments. One of the things touted to do this is the Portable Room Air Conditioner. At bestbuy.com you see a sizing chart at bestbut]y.cim for portable room air conditioners. It saud not to use too big a machine in roo small a room. Id you do as I am you grt a room thar is stale and sruffy, and it make kife very uncomfortable at times.

Where might one of these machines be used, a newly converted den. Your son left for college so you converted his 10x10 bedroom into a den. The problem it is a south facing room and gets rather warm, and to use it you must cool it. You see the sizing chart above and for a 10x10 room you need a 5000 BTU unit. But if you are a south facing room add 20% to the BTU that makes it 6000 BTU. Now you feel you are set to go shopping for a machine. That is where the troubles just begin.

One thing I tend to downplay is my disability ankylosing, it is described below. For example rather than getting a handicap sticker, I walk the few times I can to the car. The other times my ride brings the car up to get me. That way I save a spot for those who truly need it. I also do not do well in temperatures above 80 or when it is humid out. I also have bad allergies and an A/C is key to getting by and enjoying a better quality of life.

Also it helps my breathing if I have an A/C. Because of the recent heat wave I am stuck in my room a lot. As a result I am forced to use and oversize

How did you get started as a news broadcaster?
Do you think having children is an obstacle for a career like this?
