More storms are in the forecast this week. Not just one day, but almost every day AGAIN as low pressure drops through Texas. Today will feature the most widespread rainfall...as the LOW is in our Western counties. Any of these storms can produce a quick 1"-2" rainfall and FLASH FLOODING. Coverage will still be 40% tomorrow.....dropping to 30% by mid-week. Storms today and tomorrow may form at ANY time...although afternoon and evening hours are the most unstable. By Wednesday through Friday, the main times will be aternoon and evening.

With all the outdoor activities this week, please be very careful....especially with all the lightning.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 9am. We have a dangerous situation developing as a line of storms called a DERECHO is moving into North Texas. It will push through ALL of the area this morning with wind gusts possibly 50-70 mph...and rainfall of one to two inches. Flash Flooding will be possible with these storms as well. Stay tuned to FOX 4 for further updates....

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are now in effect for Montague, Jack, Palo Pinto, and Stephens counties. A line of destructive storms is currently moving into western and northern sections of North Texas packing winds of 70-80 mph. These storms are moving southeast at 50 mph. In addition to destructive straight-line winds, the line of storms will produce intense lightning, some hail, and torrential rain that will likely trigger more flash flooding. This is a dangerous situation. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is also in effect for much of North Texas until 9am. Stay tuned to FOX 4 for updates!!

A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for Grayson, Wise, Denton, and Cooke counties through midday Wednesday. A thunderstorm complex is moving southward at roughly 20 mph through Oklahoma and will likely reach the Red River between 3 and 4 am. The storms are currently producing gusty winds over 50 mph, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. The potential for additional flooding will be HIGH in areas that experienced flooding early on Monday. The storms should weaken as we approach sunrise but still will be capable of producing some very heavy rain as they approach the Metroplex. This is a developing situation. Please stay tuned to FOX 4 for updates!

10:30pm Tuesday Update

Areas from Mineral Wells northeast to Decatur to Gainesville are under a "Slight Risk" for severe weather overnight as a complex of thunderstorms in western and central Oklahoma head southward. These storms are currently packing up to half-dollar sized hail, 65 mph winds, intense lightning, and torrential rain. If these storms hold together overnight, they may reach the Red River (Montague county line) by 2:30-3:00 am. Residents in flood ravaged areas like Cooke County need to pay close attention to the movement of these storms. They may pose another significant flood threat before sunrise Wednesday. The storms should gradually weaken the farther south of the Red River they move. Stay tuned to FOX 4 for updates including any possible Watches or Warnings.

Flood warnings are still in effect for counties to the NORTH of the Metroplex. A batch of heavy, but non-severe storms with torrential downpours still exist to the Northeast of Dallas county. Other weather storms are up near Denton...moving southeast. There will still be a few scattered storms this morning, and today...although they will not be anywhere near as widespread or severe as what we had overnight....where rainfall totals of up to 8 inches were common!

After a night with storms producing 3-6 inches of rain for parts of Tarrant, Denton, Cooke and Grayson counties....things are slowly quieting down. There are still big storms along the Red River, which will move into Oklahoma this morning. The low pressure area that has produced all the rainfall is now slowly moving out....and while it still may produce a few storms this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon, the coverage will be less than what we saw this weekend.

By the end of the week...HOT and humid air will be back in place......

There's a slight risk of severe weather across North Texas through this evening as scattered storms continue to flare up and move very slowly northeast. While nickel-size hail and 60 mph wind gusts will be possible with the strongest cells, the primary threats will be very heavy rain and frequent lightning. Flash Flood Warnings continue for Fannin and Lamar counties as well where up to 3 inches of rain has fallen. North Texas is under a "Slight Risk" again tomorrow for severe weather with a second round of storms likely.

It's through 1/2 of North Texas...and still moving south as we head toward noon. The storms from this morning have died down quite a bit...but may re-fire again this afternoon in our far southern counties. North winds and a few clouds have really caused a nice drop in temps...which will last through tonight. If any storms do kick up, they may have some heavy rainfall and gusty winds...but shouldn't last all that long. The next chance for rainfall still appears to be tomorrow afternoo, as the front begins to move back north.

All this heat and humidity is building up again. A cold front will move into the Red River region early tomorrow morning...and then cross North Texas during the day. Scattered showers and storms will develop along the front. With high dewpoints, heavy rainfall will be possible with the strongest storms...as well as gusty winds. The front will dissipate Saturday, leaving a slight chance for an afternoon storm. That's it for rainfall after that!

This morning's line of strong-to-severe thunderstorms held together better than expected.  We had about a dozen North Texas counties under severe weather warnings at one time or another this morning, but no significant damage was reported.  A billboard was knocked over near Keller, and a semi-truck was blown over up in Sherman.

Those storms are moving into East Texas.

More storms are possible later tonight, with a situation similar to what brought the storms through here this morning.  Expect severe storms to develop in the Panhandle and South Plains.  Those will most east this evening and into the overnight hours, and we could see another line of storms moving through here.

Now that this morning's storms have passed, you should be able to enjoy the rest of your day outdoors.  Temperatures should climb into the 80s - quite pleasant!   But keep your eyes on the sky and keep checking myFOXdfw.com, as conditions could change by the hour later today.

A line of storms - some severe - is moving through North Texas now.  Expect winds up to 60 mph and some small hail as the line moves through the area this morning.    Some of you may get up to an inch of rain.

The storms should be through the area by noon, and the afternoon is expected to turn out partly sunny.

A Severe T-Storm Watch is in effect for much of North Texas through 4 am. A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will push through North Texas between now and 4am. Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible, but the main threats appear to be very heavy rain and frequent lightning. Rainfall totals of up to 2" will be possible which will likely cause some flooding. The storms will end briefly overnight from west to east, with another batch of thunderstorms possibly pushing into North Texas from the west before sunrise. Stay tuned for Good Day at 8am for the very latest....

A Flash Flood Warning continues for Dallas County until 6pm, while a Severe T-Storm Warning runs until 6pm for Hill County. The main line of storms has now pushed east of the Metroplex and extends from Paris to Kaufman to Hillsboro. While a couple storms may briefly turn severe with up to nickel hail and 60 mph wind gusts, the main hazards with these storms will be torrential rain and frequent lightning. Scattered showers and storms will continue to gradually weaken through 9pm tonight with more activity on tap tomorrow.

Yes, we have a chance for storms all week...BUT, the timing of the events will allow for many dry periods. For example, today's rainfall has already happened (this morning) and most likely we will be dry this afternoon. The one exception may be our far EASTERN counties, where an isolated storm may pop-up later. Rain is not expected tonight into Wednesday as a cap strengthens over us. The next chance for storms will be Wednesday eveing through Thursday morning along a cold front...which will most likely impact areas from the Metroplex north and west.  Some of those may be severe. As the front stalls...other storms may pop-up each afternoon and evening Thursday through Friday.
