Ever wonder why many people dread it when they are called for jury duty?  I personally wouldn't mind serving on one. I think it would be interesting but they never choose me. I wonder why? Anyway, I was called for duty this morning.  Got there at 8:30am, paid $8 for parking. They made everyone watch an instructional video, we were sworn in then they said "ok we're taking a break until 9:30".  What? We get there at 8:30 just to wait some more? Then at 9:40 they said....you guessed it.... "thanks for your patience..blah, blah, blah... but we're going to be a little bit longer. We'll take another break.  Please be back by 10:30.  What is up with that? This goes on and on. Then finally they say "when we call your number you are excused."  You got it. They called my number.  My entire morning wasted. They really do need to come up with a more efficient way to weed out potential jurors don't you think?

That's the question I get all the time. Actually "why haven't you called me back" comes in a close second. I'll try to answer both. Normally the stories I end up airing are the ones that are visual, interesting, different, haven't done before and quite honestly easy to resolve. I don't have a lot of time to work on "Buggin U" stories so that's why I select the easier ones. Typically I get a couple of hours every day after I am done with my Good Day duties. FYI, I come in at 3:30AM and I am done with Good Day at 8:30. That leaves me with roughly 3 hours to work on Buggin. That's not a lot of time.  I get hundreds of emails and voicemails every week, so it takes a while for me to listen and review them all. Please don't get mad when I don't respond or if it takes what seems like forever. I'll be honest, stories that involve a bad used car or slum lord or high utility bill, or child support issue, I usually stay away from. Some of them are too complex.  Sometims I do pass story ideas to other reporters so you may be getting a call from them.  Right now for example I am working on 3-4 different stories. I have partially shot a couple of them.  I am waiting on people to call me back for other stories. It just depends.  So please don't be discouraged and don't take it personally if I don't respond. I would love to be able to talk to everyone and help out but it's just not possible. I hope you understand.

You know you're getting old when you cover the State Fair for the 8th year in a row...make  aching noises when you get up....  or you're about to attend your 20th High School reunion. Yep this week I'm heading back to the Rio Grande Valley to reunite with old friends, see who has gotten bigger around the waist and see who has a more kids than they can count.  I graduated from PSJA (Pharr-San Juan-Alamo HS) in 1988. If you don't know where that is, it's next to Mcallen, near Brownsville, South Padre Island. I thought that I hadn't changed much but then I saw my senior picture the other day and boy was I wrong.  I'll let you all know how it goes. (Maybe I'll post that senior picture). I'll think about it.

If you have been trying to send me an email at whatsbugginyou@kdfwfox4.com and it's been returned, I apologize. I am not ignoring you.  For some reason, the account has been deleted. I have absolutely NO emails in there at all!!  It's being looked at and hopefully I'll be able to get yours and respond.  Please be patient. One of the lost emails came from the person with the "gargoyle" issue. I do want to hear from that person. Please call the Buggin you phone line.    Thanks for your patience, Saul.

I know I know its been a while since I last blogged. There,s never enough time is there? I am in Denton covering the fire at The Tomato pizza restaurant. It's sad to see it go. I am a UNT alumn and spent many days and nights on Fry St. Yes new development is going up and will bring in new hangouts but like many folks here will tell you it just won't be the same.I tried to include a picture of the rubble that once was the popular ''Tomato''. but I just got this new PDA and I am still trying to figure it out. Technology huh? Once I do I will be able to show you more pictures from behind the scenes, what I do on a daily basis.

So I am finally joining this whole Blogging craze.  I hope to discuss all kinds of stuff with all of you. But I thought I would begin my first blog asking for some help from you. Recently you saw video of us reporters and anchors "BEFORE" we made it here to Fox 4. I'm sure you noticed the"stylish" glasses and also how much younger I looked. Well did you also notice how much thinner I was? Man was that depressing!!! So here's where you come in: I am counting on you to lend me some moral support here as I try to shed some of those pounds. (I'm not saying I plan on being as thin as I was 15 years ago. Come on let's be real here). But my goal is to lose about 20 pounds. All I need is for you guys to ask me how the diet is going, if I've cheated, if I"m on track..etc...  Basically let me know that you're watching and counting on me to keep my goal.  I'll keep you guys updated and thanks.  We'll be blogging soon!  -Saul

You can catch me on Good Day every morning from 5am-9am reporting on anything and everything. You can also find me getting to the bottom of "What's Buggin' You?", a Monday night feature on Fox 4 News at 9pm. Hard to believe that 2007 marks my 8th year at Fox 4 and 15th year in TV news.
