Do you miss Jeff Kent? I'm sure Vin Scully doesn't!! And if you're a Dodgers fan, you probably don't either. It wasn't long after Kent was quoted as saying that Scully talks too much that he ended up on the disabled list, then under the knife. Is that bad kharma? Kent had knee surgery and still has a chance to make it back to the team before the playoffs start. But at this rate they probably don't need him. Blake DeWitt is doing just fine at 2nd base, and the team seems to be doing just fine without Kent in the clubhouse.
Odds are he won't be back in 2009, I just hope he doesn't end up in Pittsburgh!!

Ok, so Major League Baseball is going to start using instant replay on Thursday. Is this a good thing? I'm not sure yet. We'll have to wait and see. I like the fact that the umpires are willing to make the right call when it comes to questionable home runs.. but with a lot of people already complaining about how long the games are, will adding an instant replay, in which the game must stop to watch the video, drag it along even more?
The League claims they will limit the reviews to 2 minutes. But if there a few in every game, the time will add up quickly! Either way, we'll have to wait to see if it helps baseball or hurts it.
So far I'm in favor it.. but after further review.................

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the Olympics. Great drama, great excitement, great athletic heroes. But I have a problem. I can't watch anything "live". By the time NBC gets around to airing an event, I've heard  who won. Some events take place in the wee hours of the morning, we don't see it until late at night.. almost 12 hours later! So of course, we've heard and/or read who won. Watching an event on tape simply takes the fun out of it for me.
But, I'll keep watching!!

5 events, 5 gold medals!! Is Michael Phelps unbelievable or what??!!
He might be as dominant or maybe even more dominant in his sport than Tiger Woods.. and I thought I'd never be able to say that about anyone!
Phelps now has the most gold medals in Olympic history and now he has his eyes set on winning 8 Gold Medals, which would break the all-time record held by Mark Spitz. Having Phelps involved in this year's Olympic Games has certainly drawn a lot of attention.. almost everyone is watching as he continues to amaze everyone..
Let's hope he wins 3 more!!

Have you caught Mania-Fever yet??!! If not, you will. This guy named Manny Ramirez is amazing. He is the best thing the Dodgers have done in a long, long time!
He comes to L.A. and immediately makes a difference. Not only did he hit 2 home runs in his first series with the Dodgers, but the Dodgers say they quickly sold 11,000 tickets for his first game and over 30,000 tickets for his first series. They say over $1250,000 worth of Manny merchandise has been purchased and when they start selling Manny dreadlocks, look out!
Manny is good enough to carry the Dodgers on his shoulders and into the postseason.. then we'll have to wait and see if he'll stay after the season ends..
Oh, yeah, the only time I see Manny struggling this year is when the Dodgers go to Pittsburgh in September!!

So it's the Angels who make the big blockbuster trade, huh?? They already have the best record in baseball and they go out and land a huge offensive star in Mark Teixeira! Does that automatically put them in the World Series? It should! On paper, they have by far the best team around and now with Teixeira in the mix, they should only get better!! If your an Angels fan, you should expect a World Series title and nothing else!!
But remember, should the Angels face the Pirates in the World Series, the Pirates will win it in 4!!
