So the Lakers won Game 3, 87-81. Shocked? Not me! Especially since that's what the NBA wanted!! I mean every game that is played is fixed right?!! The NBA had to have the Lakers win game 3 or else no one would continue to watch the series. With all of these allegations coming out about certain games and certain playoff series in the past being fixed, I'm sure something fishy is going on with thi current Laker-Celtic series, too. So don't be surprised if they drag it our 7 games. It's good for the NBA, it's good for TV, and it makes the NBA a whole lo of money..

First of all, Tim Donaghy is an a-hole. He is a low-life who is trying to use whatever last-gasp ammo he has left to stick it David Stern. He's bitter that his life is ruined and is coming out with this smack in the middle of the NBA Finals dream match-up - the perfect culmination of the season that revived the NBA - and Donaghy is trying to rain on the parade.

NOW, having said that, I think it's probably true, that the Sacramento-Lakers series from a few years back was fixed (to a degree).

Is this current Finals series being fixed? Well, I think the jury's still out on that one. The Celtics should win game 4. They should have been blown out in game 3, given everything they were up against, and they still had a chance to win the game late. If their two best players bring even a small semblance of their games to game 4, they should beat the Lakers. So if the Lakers win game 4 and there are some questionable calls, I will believe that there might be some fixing going on.

But I don't think it would last past that. If the series gets to 2-2, they'll let it roll from there and play out however it plays out. It will go at least 6 games.

But all-in-all, I don't think there is any fixing going on. The nature of the game of basketball is such that the officials play a bigger role than in any other sport. There are more fouls/penalties committed than in any other sport. That's not the officials problem, that's just the nature of the game. So in high-profile games in the playoffs, there is always going to be bitching and questioning of the officials by the los
