Good morning, Randi! I don't get the winter blues too bad. Late January, early February I start getting a little "spring fever", but the kids keep me busy enough that I generally don't have time to think about it!

Randi...yes, actually I do. Not so much that I've ever been officially diagnosed with S.A.D., but I do notice a change in how I feel from January to Spring. It could have something to do with the holidays being over...all the excitement of that, etc. What I have noticed helps is going to a tanning bed JUST A FEW TIMES...I really don't advocate tanning bed use, but it does seem to help lift my mood to even get some fake sun!

I love the winter time! No bugs no grass to cut not leaves to rake (I could go on and on) I was born in November and love putting on my nice warm coat and boots. During to the winter to pick up my spirits I normally get a good massage or go a shopping spree now that I have lost so much weight. :0)

Nope do not have any seasonal affective disorder. I have one of those ott lights to sew by...it didn't give me the light I needed so I gave it to my parrots...they do get depressed with the lower light levels.. I think the reason I don't have it, is because I welcome the winter, it gives me a rest from the intense work in the garden and the pressures of having to get the produce in the can or the freezer. I get to sit in front of the fire wrapped in a warm robe and toast marshmallows...while I am reading the seed catalogues to see what enticing veggies I can grow... When I have ordered the seeds they come and I get to plant them in pots underlights..thus starting the cycle over again. (in those quiet time while the seeds are sprouting a new quilt sprouts under the presser foot of my sewing machine.

My dad does he will go out on days when the sun is shinning good and walk for almost 2 hours...

All he talks about all winter is how he can't wait for spring an summer and the sun...

Randi I wouldn't know if I had S.A.D. or not I do get depressed during the winter months. I usually try to craft or something like that to get me through it.

All I can say is....."Mr. Wild when you go to that happy place....Take me with you!"

I'm cold and have the flu, I need to see the ocean blue! Feeling the sun on my face, dreaming of a quiet place! Drink in hand, sunglasses on, oh how I could stay here all winter long! Wake up it's spring, now thats the way it should be! S.A.D NO not ME! LOL

Pulling the covers back over my head, I'm off to bed! Feeling blah!

I'm afflicted in February.. shortest month of the year but darkest and most depressing for me. I guess by then, I'm ready for spring.

I think January is the worst. The hustle of the holidays are over, and it is usually the coldest month of winter here (although Dave Murray says it wont be too bad this year). But as long as it is a sunny day and I can get out and do some walking I am pretty OK with it being winter most days. Soon February brings Valentines Day, my birthday, and best of all baseball spring training starts, signaling that spring is right around the corner.

I think what I hate most about winter is that there is no baseball.
To quote Rogers Hornsby:
"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring!"

Who's got time for winter blues...theres too much to do! My horseshoeing business slows down giving me time to get other stuff done here on the ranch. That and winter feeding takes up most of my time, along with cutting firewood, post, and working the draft teams. Randi, you need to come and go sleigh riding this winter when we get a nice blanket of that snow!
