Spent a morning with a task force of cops from federal state and local agencies.... out on a sweep looking for people with outstanding warrants  . business is good. there are ''only'' two million folks like that out there in the u.s. of a.     I came away from it with the impression, cultivated over many years and confirmed.. that most cops.. the vast vast majority of cops...want to do one thing.... PUT BAD GUYS IN JAIL.  it really doesn't  matter if they're white, brown, black, green, or purple.... man or woman .... young or old... If you're a criminal, they'd love to put you in jail.. legally.... If. say.. you''re walking down the street,  you happen to be an illegal immigrant and you're minding your own business and earning a living or whatever, you're not likely to get hassled... but if you happen to say...shoot someone ... rob someone... you're going to jail,  whether you were born here , there , or anywhere...

Before you tell me how naive i am, i'm not.   I 'm watching a story on the news now that the la times broke about cops allegedly lying to put someone away in a drug deal. believe me i understand they aint all angels out there.. i've been in la. since '83 and have see it all along w/ the rest of you.... i've even been arrested  a couple of times myself and it's not a lot of fun.... having said that, again, my point is that the majority of cops want to do the right thing and keep the streets safe for my wife and kids and yours.  You got a problem with that ?

well phils the problem is that cops often think some bloke is a bad guy. cops are f'ing paranoid. no one wants to get hassled jailed fined. you'd be saying great things about the SS in deutschland. i know, the badged folk took you out for a good time and the rest of us tune in to ch 11 saturday nights at eight for Cops. Cops lie? you bet. cops plant evidence? you bet. and cops don't know that they have suspicions against an innocent citizen. prosecutors like to brag about their conviction rate. prosecutors often suck too. and judges might be bad guys running for re-election seeking endorsements. re-write this tronizing [...] of a blog!

The Schwarzenegger Nonrevolution
Tom Brokaw and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger are old friends, having met 30 years ago when Mr. Brokaw was NBC's correspondent in Los Angeles. But that didn't spare Arnold from tough questioning in the mold of the late Tim Russert when Mr. Brokaw interviewed him for "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

Mr. Brokaw began by asking just how much had really changed in California. "When you ran for governor in 2003, you ran as a fiscal conservative who would change the system, who would bring business-like techniques," the host said. "Now, you are facing a $15-billion deficit here in California. Unemployment is running at about 6.8%; you've got the worst housing crisis since the Great Depression. If you were the CEO of a public company, the board would probably say, 'It is time to go.'"

Mr. Schwarzenegger joked: "Are you always this positive?" He then launched into a defense of some of his spending – especially on infrastructure – and said economic conditions were sour everywhere: "People are struggling, and I think we see that all over the world."

But Mr. Brokaw wasn't done. "Before you came in, governor, you said the spending was out of control. Your rate of increase in spending is about the same as your predecessor, Gov. Gray Davis. It has grown at about 34% since you took office."

A startled governor, who rode into office during the 2003 recall campaign excoriating the spending record of Democrat Davis, insisted: "The numbers are misleading. We have paid off a lot of debt. . . . I am very proud that we paid off a lot of debt and that
