They all do it. I've seen John McCain on The Daily Show over 5 times. Newt Gingrich was on last week. What's the difference between appearing on David Letterman and appearing on the O'Reilly show or Fox 11's morning show? All politicians have to get themselves in front of all ages, all political groups and numerous topics so they can connect with the voters. Why? Because our president's job is to represent ALL PEOPLE. Not just the ones who are serious or the ones who are silly.

Is your real problem caused by the fact that you don't like Hillary Clinton? If so, your blog says a lot more about you than her.

Phil, the problem is that big money interests are making our system a sham filled with the most corrupted clowns in history. Instead of really talking about fixing problems, the current batch of political losers are running around cracking jokes. That is why they will not get my vote and that of many other folks, because they are not worth it as they are all about the same. Donkey, Elephant, take your pick, I'll stick with the original Constitution, thank you!

It's been said that when your overseas or abroad you can always tell an American in the crowd. They're the one that's smiling... We would rather suffer through something and find some way to laugh about it sooner than most other cultures would dare so yes... we want an executive with a sense of humor.

Humor shows a human sensitivity that would rather cheer a person up then pander to pity. For my part I like a tear jerker once a year or every other year but for the most part 'give me liberty or give me death' is the sacred American precept that gives us the last laugh... no matter what.

your right. and or nations problem leave little room for comedy. but know this the world laughs at us.

The last line of this post is pretty funnny, Dad. I like Hilary Cliton, as you know...but I don't know how I feel about Presidential candidates trying to appeal to voters through popular culture's mechanisms. Have you seen the film "American Dreamz"? You might find it relevant to what you're talking about. In the movie, the president appears on a kind of "American Idol" show as a guest judge. Pretty amusing.
