Hey There Everyone!

Ok so. for those of you who don't know me here is a little secret, I LOVE MUSIC!  Almost to a fault.  I love it so much I get on other people's nerves!  I picked my friend up from the airport the other day and on the way home i drove her crazy singing in the car...I sang, "Dreamgirls" soundtrack, the Dixie Chicks, and A little Bob Marley.  She said she was about to jump out of the car and run into traffic on the 405!  And out on assignment the other day my photographer said to me, "Dang, you know every word to every song that comes on the radio!"  It's a disease...I just lovemusic...and I'm a lyric listener....good lyrics captivate me.  I was listening to Bob Marley the other day...the song "treat you right" and I was telling a friend how beautiful of a love song it was...he was like huh? love song?  i said listen to the words....so my question is...i have loved all types of music forever but my favorite I think is hip-hop...not gangter rap, but true to form hip-hop and I ask myself (a stolen line from the movie Brown Sugar) when did you first fall in love with hip-hop?  I was hooked when i heard Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight....it still holds up to this day and is still one of my all time favorite songs....so my question to you guys is, "When did you first fall in love with _______? (whatever music you love...give me a great music memory).  Let's talk...HOLLA!

nischelle,
i too love lyrics-BOB DYLAN is a classic american poet, most people just cant stand his voice.
"early one morning the sun was shining,i was laying in bed wondering if she had changed it all,if her hair was still red,her folks they said our lives together sure was gonna be rough, they never did like mommas homemade dress, papas bankbook wasnt big enough"

thats the beginning to "tangled up in blue"
i really think u would like this website-if u havent already heard of it--

One of my favorites of all time is Chicago's "Saturday In The Park" (my first 45), and Elton John along with lyricist Bernie Taupin make a great team: Rocket Man, Honky Cat, Crocodile Rock.

Nischelle, you and Bobby D. have some great moves on the set! I hereby declare the O'Jays song "I Love Music" as one of your theme songs along with the Doobie Brothers "Listen To The Music"!

By the way, I work behind the scenes in radio.

it was in 1972 i came to California to visit my sister while on summer vacation in high school..she took me to my first concert it was Rod Stewart and faces at the Hollywood bowl..i was hooked when i went back to my parents in New Jersey i immediately grabbed all the albums my sister had left behind ..i listened to them all especially to creedence clearwater revival...for the next few years i went to concert after concert creedence had broken up and so i never got to see them ..it was one of my biggest dreams to see the Red Sox win the world series and to see creedence clearwater revival in 2004 the RED SOX won the world series and five months ago one of my friends got me tickets for John Fogerty lead singer for CCR..i had waited for 35 years i was hoping to hear him sing at least a few CCR songs but instead other than 4 songs it was all CCR .nobody sat down it was great singing all the songs i knew and loved as a kid and for a couple of hours i was a kid again..it was the most special concert i ever saw ..your never to old to see a dream come true..

i was around 7 when i heard l.a. guns "cocked and loaded" album for the first time. it was the first album that i purchased, and truly loved. soon after i was all into bon jovi, dangerous toys and guns n roses.

19 years later i got to see l.a. guns play at the whiskey for their 20th anniversary show. they are still a great band to see live, and it was a great set.
"wheels of fire" by l.a. guns
I've been dreaming 'bout this night
Praise the lord 2 make things right
Hold so tight 2 your embrace
Feel your breath against my face
Hey baby I've got plans 4 u
There ain't nothing I won't do
Set the spark that sets my soul on fire
I'll take u higher, higher, higher

I'm burning baby can't u see my heart's aflame
I'll be the 1 u call by name
There's no denying that u just take the pain
I'll never ever break the chain
Innocence fuels my desire
Wheels Of Fire

Darkness falls my blood starts racing
My heart's beating like a drum
Beating out like a jungle rhythm
4 beats 2 the bar
Falling down like thunder from heaven
Shooting Star

I'm burning baby can't u see my heart's aflame
I'll be the 1 u call by name
There's no denying that u just take the pain
I'll never ever break the chain
Innocence fuels my desire

i can remember when LL's "i cant live without my radio came out" along with Run DMC's "sucka Mc's." i knew it was a form of music that i wanted to listen to. The music said what i wanted to say and it sounded like the they understood the things i was about. I remember captivating my eardrum and i was hooked. Since then i kept listening to East Coast hip hop. From Sugar Hill gang, to Run DMC. From Boogie Down Productions to Gangstarr. From EPMD to Public Enemy. From Wu Tang to Mos Def and Common. I regret to say that even though i adore hip hop, like the Common song goes "I used to love H.E.R." Hip hop is no more. Its dead and it turned into something else Nichelle. i'm sure you know what i mean. But i feel you on the whole aspect on hip hop and its culture. Do you agree with me Nichelle?

Hmmm...Dragonfly girl. I guess growing up at the end of the 1950's and especially through the 60's into the 70's. The tunes were just great. I think music began going downhill when Hip Hop and "C" Rap came into fashion with gang banger grunge tunes. The music of the roaring twenties, mid 1950's through the mid 1970's for rock and roll and Disco/Country all made for great listening. Jazz and big band era tunes as well.

Nichelle, I Love Me Some Hip-Hop!!!! I'm a bigggg fan of R&B too, but that Hip-Hop has my heart!...I can even do Gangsta Rap all day long, 2Pac seems to come on the rotation of the iPod every few songs, but Rapper's Delight is where it started for me! I grew up South Central LA, listing to KDAY in the mornings getting ready for school. Heavy D, Run DMC,Big Daddy Kane(big not little)Queen Latifah, UTFO, Salt N Peppa, Mc Lyte, LL Cool J...U know all them jams...Love the Gangsta's too! NWA, DJ Quick, Mc Eiht,The Ghetto Boyz, Scarface....I listen to more old school than I do this new age stuff....It's cool too though for the most part, like I said, I love me some music, but I find myself listing to more of the 1980's-early2000's Hip-Hop. My theme song is "Fly Girl" and has been since the 80's!!!!!

Music is so creative and so informative....I don't discriminate on any of it....I will listen to it all to be totally honest!

Just to kinda warm up the soul in the morning a lil... To answer your question though i feel in lallaal love with Summer Madness (Kool in the Gang).. when i hear that on a clear day rollin down the street it put you in this sort of state of mind to zone out.... yeah something like that..

IF YOU DON'T MIND HEARING FROM THE CLOWN, I PLAYED PIANO, TRUMPET AND FLUTE. I FELL IN LOVE WITH R&B WHILE IN JR. HIGH. OUR BAND PERFORMED R&B AND JAZZ TUNES IN VEGAS, AND DISNEYLAND.
I REMEMBER WHEN SUGAR HILL GANG CAME OUT. IT WAS TIGHT. BUT CURTIS BLOW'S "CHRISMAS RAP" WAS DA BOMB!!!.
NOW, AROUND 1984, I BECAME A CHRISTIAN, AND STOPPED LISTENING TO SECULAR MUSIC. IN 1994, I GOT BACK INTO HIP HOP AFTER LOSING FAITH IN "THE WORD OF GOD". BECAUSE OF DISAPPOINTMENTS IN MY LIFE BETWEEN '88 TO '94, I FOUND HIP HOP, AND RAP TO BE THE BEST MUSIC TO DROWN OUT FEELINGS OF DEPRESSION. WHEN IN A DOWN MOOD, THE SOUND OF THE MUSIC SHOOTS ME BACK UP. I GET SUCH A SURGE OF ENERGY! LUV IT. DON'T REALLY GO FOR ALL THE WORDS IN IT, BUT THE MUSIC AND THE BEAT ON A LOT OF IT IS TOO HOT TO PASS UP. I ONLY SING AT KARAOKE WITH COUISNS AT GET TOGETHERS, BUT ONLY AFTER A FEW DRINKS. ALL OF MY FAMILY KNOWS THAT I'M THE CLOWN. I GET ON THEIR NERVES TOO (SMILE) BUT, IF I MISS AN EVENT, THEY SAY THAT IT AIN'T NO FUN WITHOUT ME. LOL PLUS, I LOVE TO DANCE TO R&B, HIP HOP AND RAP. "LOVE" MUSIC IS WONDERFUL IF I'M COMMITTED TO SOMEONE WHO I CAN HAVE A SPECIAL SPIRITUAL CONNECTION WITH. CAN'T STAND HEARING IT IF I DON'T HAVE THAT IN MY LIFE. TOO DEPRESSING.
NISCHELLE, LOVE YOUR LAUGHTER, GIGGLING AND PROF. REPORTS!! IN REALITY, YOU ARE #1 AND "ALL THAT" TO ME OVER ANYONE. I MEAN IT. (SMILE)
NO RESPONSE NECESSARY.

P.S.,
after a few drinks, i can sing any of Al Jarreau, or George Benson's songs at a karaoke event.
a clown has to numb his emotions in order to sing these songs without getting teary eyed. Al Jarreau's songs are beautiful. i think i do a good impression of "On Broadway" G.B.

sorry for taking up too much room on your blog.

Thats so crazy! One of the first songs and the first Hip-Hop song I loved was that same exact song! Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight! I was really young but I loved it so much my parents bought me the record, and I mean record record (vinyl)!

I actually love all kinds of music, Hip-Hop, Rock, Ska, Country, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Orchestral, everything! It's no wonder I'm a music major eh? Haha

The first Rock band I fell in love with was Guns N' Roses, I saw the video for "Welcome to the Jungle" on MTV and I was in love! Gn'R was and is the ultimate in raw rock to me!

Heavy Metal I got into with SoundGarden in the early 90's with the song "Black Hole Sun". I got into the more "crazy stuff" as most people would consider through KoRn in the late 90's. After them I got really into Thrash (Pantera, Metallica, Anthrax, etc.), then Death Metal (Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Nile, etc.), and finally Black Metal (Immortal, Naglfar, Dimmu Borgir, etc.).

In regards to Hip-Hop I love old school Hip-Hop and Gangsta Rap. Now days, I mostly only like underground Hip-Hop like Psycho Realm and Mac Dre.

But like I said, the truth is, I love all kinds of music. I can go from The Eagles to Pantera to Johnny Cash to Mac Dre to John Mayer etc. etc.

Crafty, I'm a HUGE CCR fan as well!

STEVE EDWARDS IS A VERY FAIR MAN.
HE LOVES NISCHELLE AS WELL AS THE WHOLE CREW.
NISCHELLE IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF FOX'S WINNING CREW.
EVERYONE LOVES NISCHELLE.
EVERYONE PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN KEEPING A SHIP AFLOAT.
EVERY ATTEMPT MUST BE MADE TO MAKE SURE EVERY MEMBER OF THE CREW FEELS APPRECIATED.
THIS KEEPS THE SHIP SAILING SMOOTHLY.
WHEN THE WHOLE CREW IS HAPPY, IT SHOWS. THE SHIP LOOKS GOOD. WHEN THE SHIP LOOKS GOOD, IT ATTRACTS ADMIRERS (VIEWERS). VIEWERS ATTRACT THE ATTENTION OF ADVERTISERS. ADVERTISERS PAY FOX. FOX PAYS THE CREW.
ADVERTISERS ARE THE ONES WHO ULTIMATELY DETERMINE WHO IS NUMBER ONE AND WHO STAYS ON THE AIR.
