Nischelle_Turner's Blog

Okay...so earlier this week Steve came up with an idea for my blog this week.  Great topic...do you support Barry Bonds yes or no?  Do you think he is doing baseball an injustice by being the one to break Hank Aaron's homerun record while under the cloud of performing enhancing drug suspicion? Or do you think "the media" has created more of an issue than there is.  Do you think there is a racial element to the dislike for Barry or is it because he's known to not be very friendly? And finally will you watch when he breaks the record or just ignore it all together? WHEW! That's a mouthful!...now let's talk!

 HOLLA!

i don't care much for baseball, but i do cheer on the angels. but i don't think his record or anyone elses record is valid if they used performance enhancing drugs. it's not fair for the others that were clean. if the olympics and if the tour de france won't validate a winner that has used drugs, then i don't see what they would give him this record.

i wont be watching this happen because i don't care much about it. but i'm just letting you all know what i think.

hello nischelle,
well i am not a barry fan as i wrote in my blog about him. it is true what samo said it is not right he is beating a record and the reason he is beating it because he cheated and since when do we allow cheater to prosper. I will only be watching this weekend because i will be in San Francisco (dodgers verses giants) and this time i will be the one getting booed. are plan is to visit every stadium... well the only ones that the dodgers go to. so i might see him beat it but i do not care at all.

Nischelle;

Bonds is a puke.

Sure he passed Ruth,
Let's not forget Ruth was pitching when he started his career.
And Ruth's drugs of choice was beer, hot dogs,
and food in general.

Imagine what Bonds would do without
chemical enhancement.

Or what Arron or Mays
could have done with chemical enhancement.

Bonds will be in the in the hall of fame,
But it should be "The Chemical Hall of Fame"

Interestingly enough more blacks than whites are pulling for Barry to break the record. I always though he was a jerk, and it didn't matter what color everyone's skin was, he was a jerk to all.

Until he is proven guilty of taking any substances you can only speculate that he has taken enhancements to achieve this, and his other records. I think it's a great moment whenever a record is broken, but it's tough to root for a guy who has never given a damn about the fans who pay his salary

I for one cant stand barry bonds not because im white because hes a total jerk i was cheering for hank aaron and ill cheer for a-rod when he breaks bonds record ..its not even the steroids it the pompas way he has handled his career.he said babe ruth wasnt fit to hold his jock strap..what a peice of ungratful human flesh he is ..bobby bonds was a great humble player willie mays was agreat player who realy fought racial adversity.as did hammering hank aaron..its a shame as this country grows up spoiled brats like bonds hold it back ..just like o.j. how much has bonds given back to the comunity ..this isnt about black or white or brown for that matter ..a black man is gonna surpass a black man in homeruns one did it honestly one didnt thats the bottom line ..its not about baseball its about rewarding cheaters ..and that brings us to illeagle imigration ...but thats another story...

Hey Nischelle,

Tell Bro. Steve he came up with a great topic! Although this issue has been blown way out of porportion I do believe it's worthy of some discussion.

First, Bonds must be judged on the sum total of his career, not one snap shot. We don't know for sure if he used some type of drug enhancment or not. What we do know is that in the late 80's and 90's ball players, like Superman, were knocking balls out of the park!

The truth is, every era has its "sacred cow" and the era of B. Bonds and Co. is no different than previous eras.

Second, I'm sure before "certain drugs" were banned a lot of players used some type of drug enhancement. Of course when you step-up to the plate it's all about hand and eye coordination. You either have it or you don't. Don't get me wrong, there's no room for drugs in baseball or any other sport. Of course we all know that durgs and sports have been strange bed fellas that have been romantically connected for a very long time. Just keeping it real!

Third, outside of S.F. and maybe Pitt. Barry has always been public enemey number one...lol
Sure he's a confident and proud Black man (what's wrong with that? lol). Maybe that's why I have never disliked the guy. Of course as a dedicated self-respecting Dodger fan I don't want him to break the record against the boyz in Blue!

But seriously, racism is real in America and I'm sure some people dislike him because of the color of his skin. Hank Aaron experienced the same thing in the early 70's. Although they are different players from two different time periods they a

I do have a problem too with the chemicals but Love California Teams the S.F. Giants are closest to us so yeah when Barry goes up to the plate I do get excited he's one of the big home run hitters of our time are you kidding Go California Go Barry Bonds !!!!

- Let me finish my thought -

Aaron and Bonds are similiar in that both men dared to break Baseball's most sacred record.

Hopefully Baseball will continue to bring the game back to the "Hood" because somewhere in South Central L.A., Chicago, D.C. ATL, the Big Easy, and Harlem there's a young man waiting to step-up to the plate and set a new homerun record. The number of African American men in the game of baseball has fallen from 28% (mid 1970') to 12%. That's a shame.

Finally, did Barry Bonds use a drug enhancement? I hope not. Of course in time the truth will come out if not in the wash it will certainly come out in the rinse.

Jim

P.S. Don't forget to pray for the Troops.

You'd have to be pretty naive to believe that Barry Bonds didn't use steroids.

Barry Bonds CHEATED!!
Americans don't like CHEATERS!!

Wow! Thia does seem to be a great topic. I do have some thoughts on this but the funny thing is I honestly haven't made upmy mnd about Barry Bonds...here is why...I have friends on both sides of the aisle when it comes to him. I have never met him but I have friends who a very close to him and, of course, think he is a great guy. Then I have friends who have had bad run-ins with him. I respect and trust all of their opinions so I'm torn.

To let you allknow I am one of those people who feel like if you are going to asterisk Barry that is fine but you should do that with all records in question INCLUDING those before baseball was integrated.

I also think that the media DOES somewhat shape how we feel about athletes and if Barry had a different realtionship withthe media I believe fans would have a little different view of him. Whether or not that is his fault I don't know

Nischelle,

All of your spin about his relationship with the media and your friends opinions don't amount to anything. Bonds cheated!! That's it! You either think it's okay to cheat or you don't! This is NOT brain surgery.

Mr. Bonds needs us more than we need him.He is in sports show business which relies on fans to succeed ignore them be arrogant toward them and they will kick you to the curb Mr.Bonds.As far as race goes Nischelle I may be naive but I think as far as baseball goes its color blind. When I look at Mr.Bonds I don't see color I see someone who needs the Lord.

What's the point in arguing this stuff...?

Let's just go to the game and enjoy it for what it is...entertainment.

I like watching women eat hot dogs.
