This story on Nancy Grace about a and 18 month old and 2 year old who drown while the babysitter is sleeping is horrible.

2 babies - gone, just like that.  Oh let me mention that the body of water they drowned in was 100 yards away.

Nancy Grace says that the parents should not be held responsible for hiring an 18 year old but my God!

JMO:
Ultimately, all parents should be held accountable to some degree for anything that happens to their children or anything their children do. As a parent it is my job to make sure they are safe, they stay safe, they act safe. My job to teach them to be decent law abiding citizens, to learn consequences for actions,(good and bad) to respect others, all of it. (too many jobs to list them all).
It is my job to make sure I have left my kids with a responsible person. If I fail to do so, my children will inevitably suffer in some way, which would be my fault. If my children do something illegal or otherwise negative, it is also my responsibility that I did not teach them.
Granted, the parents of these kids will forever suffer their loss. This may be punishment enough.
Not to say in any way, that the babysitter isn't also definitely accountable.

From a stay at home mommie's point of view. I don't leave my children with anyone I haven't known for over a year and watched them myself with my kids and theirs. But that is just how I approach this.

Hello NayLah, I missed the whole story.I managed to get pieces but I really have a hard time with these beautiful, small children that through no fault of their own will never enjoy the end of school, sleeovers and some other activities all children get. I wish I had read the story but since we only get news fron about Lancaster to the other way Bakersfield what I hear or read is limited.I try not to be the judge but 100 yards is the same length as a football field. Like I said I do not know much about this but there were 3 adults 3 can'yt say that enought. What were the adults donig? Responsible who? The parents were not aware where their kids were.

you have NO idea how much this hurts me. I just don't understand some people. Im not perfect, beleive me (ask my kids) but really.
hey did you guys hear about the missing little girl that was taken from the hotel room while her parents dined? she was only 4, I think and they left her with 2 other little ones, younger than her! unbeleivable! we really do need parenting classes and more parental support. this is ridiculous. I vote that b4 anyone has a child, they have to get licences first!

dasvics, its a shame!! How can you leave three babies sleeping while you go to a dinner party????? WHere is the accountability?? What this world needs is a whole lot of prayer because a lot of people are talking but they arent saying anything.......babies, they are just babies and parents forget that and leave them open to abuse and potential kidnappings. Doesnt anyone CARE??

I guess not.??? I mean, how else would you explain this lack of responsibility? Its too bad. They need God, cause I tell you, HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT GETS ME THROUGH :) If my family is ok, it is because we hold God first. He is number 1.

I am 20 something, soon to be married. I just graduated from college - WHOO HOOOO! And I am having the hardest time finding a job, but patience is my friend right now. I have a 6 year old daughter that is the Star in my universe and I hope I live long enough to keep all the grey hair she gives me.
