Here's a bit of an article I found and thought I'd post it here instead of continually dragging another blog off topic:

"According to the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman newspaper, Emmons did not mince words when Palin asked her "how I would deal with her saying a book can't be in the library" on Oct. 28, 1996, in a week when the mayor had asked department heads for letters of resignation.

"She asked me if I would object to censorship, and I replied 'Yup'," Emmons told a reporter. "And I told her it would not be just me. This was a constitutional question, and the American Civil Liberties Union would get involved, too."

The Rev. Howard Bess, a liberal Christian preacher in the nearby town of Palmer, said the church Palin and her family attended until 2002, the Wasilla Assembly of God, was pushing to remove his book from local bookstores.

Emmons told him that year that several copies of "Pastor I Am Gay" had disappeared from the library shelves, Bess said.

"Sarah brought pressure on the library about things she didn't like," Bess said. "To believe that my book was not targeted in this is a joke."

Other locals said the dust-up had been blown out of proportion.

"That was many years ago and Sarah never had any intention to ban books," said David Chappel, who served as Palin's deputy mayor for three years. "There were some vocal people in the minority, and it looks like they're still out there.""

Sounds like a bit more than just wanting to know the procedure of banning books.  But, I'm a peabrain so what do I know...

Moo,

Sounds do me like she's stuck between some people in her church and being a fair and objective mayor. The quote of "Sarah brought pressure on the library about things she didn't like", needs to be explained otherwise it's just hearsay. What kind of pressure? What resignation were ask for? Why? These are questions that without answers, mean nothing in the context of the book issue.

Even the librarian admits that she never asked, demanded or suggested that any books be banned. The left has all but put Sarah Palin in a Nazi SS uniform and posed her in front of a pile of burning books. I'm sure someone is airbrushing away in Photoshop as we speak. Good job lefties! At least the stuff I post about Joe Biden are "verifiable" facts!

She FIRED the librarian didn't she? Only to reinstate her when the town rebelled.

The AG can brainwash you a bit if you speak in tongues and become a "holy roller"; their habit of thrashing around on the floor in unbridled "spirit possession".

No. She fired her over her objections to merging the town's library and museum operations. She reinstated her the next day after meeting with her. Palin said that her concerns had been alleviated when she agreed to support the plan. The fact that the librarian doesn't want to talk about it show there was no intent to ban books. If there were, don't you think a librarian would speak up?

See how easy it is to draw a conclusion when you have half the story? By the way, that's easily checkable by going to the Anchorage Daily News website.

Don't get me wrong....I love 60% of what I see in Palin, don't like 20% and am undecided on the other 40%.

I like 40% of Obama, don't like 30% and don't know about the other 20%.

MO - "what she really meant" is already becoming as commonplace as when anytime Reagon strayed from his script and 5 minutes afterwards the WhiteHouse issueing the "what he meant" statement.

Nope, it didn't.

Once again I ask if the GOP couldn't have picked another woman w/out as many distractions? Or was that the point?
