Here's a bit:

"The US plans to establish a diplomatic presence in Tehran for the first time in 30 years as part of a remarkable turnaround in policy by President George Bush.

The Guardian has learned that an announcement will be made in the next month to establish a US interests section - a halfway house to setting up a full embassy. The move will see US diplomats stationed in the country.

The news of the shift by Bush who has pursued a hawkish approach to Iran throughout his tenure comes at a critical time in US-Iranian relations. After weeks that have seen tensions rise with Israel conducting war games and Tehran carrying out long-range missile tests, a thaw appears to be under way.

The White House announced yesterday that William Burns, a senior state department official, is to be sent to Switzerland on Saturday to hear Tehran's response to a European offer aimed at resolving the nuclear standoff.

Burns is to sit at the table with Iranian officials despite Bush repeatedly ruling out direct talks on the nuclear issue until Iran suspends its uranium enrichment programme, which is a possible first step on the way to a nuclear weapon capability."

Personally, I don't think we should recognize the existence of any theocracy, especially Iran and Saudi Arabia. Governments that use God (any) as an excuse are NOT trustworthy.

Government and trustworthy are two words that do not go together. What's amazing YD? Iran will still be run by a pyscho. How can you reason with a madman? Have you read anyhing Tehran has put out? I believe that Ahmadinejad was one of the "students" who originally took our people hostage in 1979.
Probably the idea of an embassy in Tehran again is to give Bush a reason to blow them to kingdom come when they attack it again.
In case you didn't notice, the Iranians idea of diplomacy is to threaten with death, fire missiles as a show of strength and harass our ships. Oh let's not forget selling arms to insurgents and terrorists around the area.
Why does a nation with so much oil and natural gas need nuclear power to generate electricity? When they drop a nuke on NY City from a container ship off the coast via a Russian missile, I am sure Hillary and Obama will be hot on the phone to Tehran to see what we can talk about. :)
God Bless The USA!

Now, moondog is a blogger that I think is really cool. Watch out for bloggers who feel it necessary to call moondog out. She is trying to not piss anyone off. I think she's an angel.

In response to Vittorio, mixture of church and state is the worst possible thing that can happen to a Democracy.

Ugh. Now I read the article. I am in favor of changing the people we buy oil from. Iran has made a diplomatic advance. I suggest we reciprocate.
