Here's a bit:

"(NaturalNews) A Rhode Island school district has announced a pilot program to monitor student movements by means of radio frequency identification (RFID) chips implanted in their schoolbags.

The Middletown School District, in partnership with MAP Information Technology Corp., has launched a pilot program to implant RFID chips into the schoolbags of 80 children at the Aquidneck School. Each chip would be programmed with a student identification number, and would be read by an external device installed in one of two school buses. The buses would also be fitted with global positioning system (GPS) devices.

Parents or school officials could log onto a school web site to see whether and when specific children had entered or exited which bus, and to look up the bus's current location as provided by the GPS device."

Is this a good thing?

I know this is really reaching, but why can't people just take responsibility, if you are a driver, then drive the bus and take care of you children. Parents, watch out fo them, make sure they know where to go and take care of the situation. Everyone is so ready to place the blame and sue and that makes everyone else try to come up with these gadgets to save their buts.....The day is comming that when you have a baby, not only do you have to apply for a SS # but you will have to have your child "micro chipped" before you leave the hospital. Could't we just micro chip the bad people instead. Criminals, rapests, child molesters, once you go to jail chip them and it can't be removed for the next 10 years....If we could eliminate the bad people and make people stand up and be responsible then we wouldn't have to follow our children and have them think we don't trust them.

The problem is, that new bad apples are always showing up...

Just seems like all the futuristic stuff from movies in the past are coming upon us. Pretty soon everyone will have their own bar-code. Scary, but we will bear witness to more and more of this stuff. Between being coded, scanned and videoed whats left??? More and more intrusion, thats was left, and COMING SOON............

My children are microchipped so what's the problem? Of course my kids are of the 4 legged kind.
If I were the parents I would tell them where they could put that chip. Why would parents allow their parental rights to be taken away from them?

Why not RandyLoo? We've shown we're willing to give up our privacy rights so our government can keep us 'safe'. Sad but true.

My pets are not chipped nor will they be. Neither would my kids backpack be chipped nor my kid herself. I'll homeschool if this become mandatory here.

I'm not a technophobe, but I do draw the line at chipping because once you start, as we can see, where will it end? In every persons wrist? I think not.

As Tazzesmom & PastorD said, who wants a barcode/chip?

Whenever anything is put up as 'better than sliced bread', I treat it w/extreme hesitation. hehehehehehehe.... that attitude will probably land me in the re-education center coming to a city near you...

Waste of time. Kids will trade bags if they want to go someplace where they aren't supposed to go.

I am a techi kinda gal but I know you better have a better game than this if you want to track your kids.

That was my first thought 59Cadillac.

RandyLoo, I reread my response and it seems harsher than I meant. Chipping pets is a personal choice. I just chose not to when it was offered.

We are getting too close to Big Brother for our own good.

1984.

I am either having a hormonal surge or this bit of news has just made me nauseous.

59cadillac though sums up more truth than not. Kids WILL find a way around it. )Didn't we.....?)

I had no choice on chipping my pets..that was the policy of the shelters where I adopted them from.

Guess what? Those microchips are ready and waiting for the citizens of the USA. A company has them and all they have to do is wait until the government gives them the green light. My sister is a broker for that industry and watched that deal get brokered about 10 years ago. Garmin is one of her big clients but they aren't the ones that have it.

We passed 1984 without incident..it seems to be catching up with us.

If this was somehow sold as, giving up your privacy for "national security", few would complain. (except for us liberal, pinko-commies).

Again, reacll years ago the little black box they were going to install into cars so it could monitor every move folks made? Huge furor over it.

Of course, repackaged and marketed as a device that tells you where you are going so you youdon't have to refer to a map then charging hundreds for it...

Americans will screech about open infringement of "their rights" but will be the first to buy into the snake oil salesman.

As a lot we're pretty stupid. This one won't go away. It may for a bit, but it too will get repackaged.

I fudged a book report on 1984 in high school.

I bought it last year and only got through about 30 pages when I had to put it down. I'll get around to it again. Perhaps after I finish "The Revolution - A Manifesto" by Ron Paul. Too bad he won't win. He is for repealing all the acts that have taken us to a police state. The 'right' calls him a coward? Oh yeah, War is Peace! Silly me.

Snake oil salesman? hehehehehe... Our government is full of them. Both sides of the aisle. At least more & more people are seeing that. Perhaps sanity will return in a few months? Tho, when does someone w/unlimited power ever give it up willingly? They are more likely to scheme their way into keeping hold of that power.

I like Vittorio's advice: Vote out all incumbents. We'd need to do like the Netherlands has done - throw out electronic voting systems and go back to pen & paper. Ha! I won't hold my breath. That might actually bring back accountability to WeThePeople. pffffttt... Fraud is Truth!

This is really a very serious situation. Several years ago there was a Sly Stallone movie were everyone was chipped and scanned. They were scanned in the stores, entering buildings. There was no currency. The entire world was monitored via an elaborate camera system. People were even monitored in THEIR OWN homes.

Sheryn is correct about Big Brother. I am in no way a doomer and gloomer, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. We already have the cameras in buildings and parking lots. Now they are practically on every busy intersection..... Now they are talking about chipping kids for safety. I question the motive, safety.... They are willing to spend tons of money with all this stuff, but refuse to spend the money to keep CREEPS in jail or secure our borders. It just make NO sense to me. Do I hear the word "CONSPIRACY"????

Lets not forget that these same people, then claim they have NO MONEY for books, supplies and teachers salaries.. But they can come up with money for this nonesense.......

I say we should chip old people too because they are prone to wondering off sometimes!

Wouldn't it be an interesting twist if every school board member, teacher and politician were required to wear a "chip?" lol

*sets out a tray of nibblies and assorted refreshing beverages*

I agree Neanderthal. But when do the rules passed ever apply to them? Rules are for we peons.

Hey, we've allowed it to happen. hehehehehe..... you know it's messed up when stuff that's been on PrisonPlanet and others for years is starting to ring true. eeeek! Not so entertaining to read anymore....

I keep wondering if our Founding Fathers would be disgusted w/the way we have rolled over or not surprised one bit? Freedom takes Responsibility and Courage.
