My son, Sgt Luke Draper was wounded over the weekend in Iraq. This is his fourth tour and he managed to escape being hit, but not this time. His area was being severly bombed and a mortar round blew up behind him and struck him in the back.
He is alive and healing but still in Iraq. It just missed his heart and spine. It was a hugh piece of scrapnel...
What does it take to bring our sons and daughters home?
I just thank God he is alive and healing.
He has seen more in the last 4 tours of duty, of violence and death than I have as an ER RN in the last 20 years...
So when you worry about missing a favorite tv show or a game or not being able to go to the movies....Our soldiers don't have those worries right now...
They only worry if today is the day they are gonna take on fire...or even if today is gonna be their last one on Earth....
