Is it my imagination or is the kind of assignments being given to Middle School kids getting a bit lax?  I have 2 kids at this age and I was very disappointed to see the type of projects or major assignments asked of them.  When did we decide to stray away from hardcore fundamentals?  When did having a creative element in the English assignment become the norm?  I did not so much as see one serious book report or research project that didn’t include some ridiculous artsy component to it.  Seriously want imput on this cause my poor kids are spending 2 days a week with me this summer doing homeschool so that I can hopefully fill in the gaps that I feel have been created in their learning.
