A bill that makes major investments to develop new technologies that address high gas prices and the energy crisis. The bill is intended to help America invest and invent its way out of high gas prices and the energy crisis. The Fiscal year 2009 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act proposes more than $33 billion in energy and water development which is a $2 billion increase from 2008. Congressman Visclosky is the chairman of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee.

In order to address high gas prices, the bill provides:$305 million for research to pursue technology breakthroughs that will reduce petroleum use by all automobiles;$2.52 billion for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy programs like renewable energy and conservation research and development activities, energy assistance programs, and Weatherization Assistance funding;$853.6 million for Fossil Energy Research and Development to pursue low cost carbon capture;$250 million for Bio-mass and Biorefinery Systems Research and Development to develop technologies that will enable future biorefineries to convert cellulosic bio-mass to fuels such as ethanol;$200 million for demonstrating the GEN IV reactor to maintain the supply of emissions free nuclear energy;$25million for Renewable Fuel Infrastructure Grants to retail and Wholsale motor fuel dealers for installation and storage of renewable fuel blends;$4.86 billion for the Department of Energy's research that will be critical in addressing energy needs.

Other priorites will be confronting Nuclear threats by boosting nuclear nonproliferation environmental cleanup and improving water infrastructure.

I strongly believe that the solutions to our current troubles lie in Americans ingenuity. Now what do you think about this LA?

Hello Media,
to tell ya the truth I am scared. As this is and has to be 1 of the biggest decisions for LA NY and all of America to make. Opinions:..
As we look to the future of any type of fossil fuels well I just can't help but feel there is no more future for them.
Feeling the faster we make this historic change to mass production of some type of bio-fuel production we must also look at the best plants to use corn we need for food.I found recently that will not work so..
I have heard of a plant called switch grass it requires little water and produces mass fuel production all cars can use now, feeling that all the money for more research will just be wasted. When picking 1 good idea can be much cheaper when its already known this switch grass can even run military vehicle's ships Jets & planes, also replacing diesel and forever changing the American vehicle too.
As for research we better make it quick and very cheap. We have so many Veterans who will be needing our care too.
Good to be back on hoping all is very well Love you, Brenda

I remember as a kid riding with my father as we left the race track in Santa Barbara California and I guess I was maybe four years old. I looked at all the cars on the road and the wonderful houses and the ocean and thought "we have arrived... we don't need to go anyfurther" so I told my father what I was thinking... that we had cars and televisions and drive in movies and drive through restaurants and the automobile was all we would ever need. The thought coming from the TV I guess and what I knew of the time before humans had cars and televisions.

But my fathers answer suprised me... I remember hims saying, "Peter the car is still a very crude form of transportation and not much better than a horse and wagon."

I was devistated... but I remember wondering if that's why they called it "horse power".

Anywho... good blog and I have nothing but the above inane rumination to offer.

Statueman Nice hearing from you always. Well it is really rediculious to me what we are going thru. Something has to give. Come on now.
This may be the monkey that breaks our back.
Greed is so back and to think about all the good that America has done to help them and to be double crossed. I am not happy about this at all. But I do like hearing from you. Thanks and have a great July 04,2008!!

Missing you very much too Media,
So hard right now, being busy or yeah family's. Oh so many things need to be done or our care.
And it seems we all do not have any time.
But this topic it needs so much urgent attention. Who could afford $7.00 a gallon?
Hoping you have had, just the very best 4th of July weekend also.
May we hopefully find our independence from
oil / fossil fuels very soon too.
I Love you, Brenda

Brenda, well now it's good to know that you missed me. I have so many people who have decided to connect with me for one reason or another all over America. They seek my advice about things. I just can't handle all this attention.Plus I decided to just get out when I am not on the roed speaking or entertaining someone who comes to visit me. You do know that people do come to visit me from across America and take photos. But a lot of the time I am not available. But Brenda I do get your messages and I will be responding.
Love you more. Media
