I cannot believe the way adoption authorities have ganged up on Madonna after she's rescued a child from what was at best an uncertain future and put him on course for what at the very least will be a better future in the universe of a family that will more than provide for him.

To be fair, I don't know all the details, but what do you need to know? The mother died, the father gave up custody to an orphanage because he cannot provide for the little guy, and now in comes Madonna and her husband who circumvent paperwork and fast track an adoption. Yes, they fast tracked it and donated 3 million dollars to AIDS/HIV charities there. That's good too in my opinion.

It's NOT LIKE THEY FAST TRACKED A LIVER TRANSPLANT. These kids are literally dying for someone to look after them. They are in an orphanage!!! Madonna didn't go door to door and find a house with no one home but a baby, toss the baby in her back pack and onto a private jet.

Doesn't it amaze you that high profile administrative figures spend a lot of time trying to get people worked up about things that don't really matter, while the state of things that do matter (in this case social workers who miss abuse and neglect in the home for example) continue to deteriorate...

Madonna: Take your child. Yes it's not a purely fair system and I suppose the rest of life isn't fair either. But I do believe this kid will have a good shot at a life now. He'll probably be running up a tab at Sky Bar before he's even of legal drinking age, crash his car on Sunset and prove me wrong, but I for one am willing to take the chance.

Don't any of these celebrities want to adopt one of the thousands of kids in this country who need a good home? Taht annoys me.

There ARE celebs adopting children from this country as well. There may be some reasons that domestic adoption is harder...meaning I know there are some reasons :) Still, some of these kids overseas are coming from the most pathetic of worlds. It's tough to feel too bad about the fact that overseas adoption goes on...By the way, my sister is trying to adopt a child now. She thinks Madonna is getting a bad rap, but I wrote my thoughts before speaking with her. There are too many kids worldwide that are unwanted and are left to a horrid life with no one who cares. Sorry for the bummer thought but it's true.

You're right about the fact that there are so many worldwide that need homes, you just never hear anything about celebs adopting kids from this country. I'm sure it is harder, but their celebs! They don't have the same rules we do.

i think whoever you are celeb or regular joe i think adoption is cool im sure if a regular joe had the means to cut through the red tape they would do it as well leave madonna alone true there are alot of children in our own country that need to be adopted and i think we have more people that are able to adopt here then in other countries maybe thats a reason celebs adopt out of country an american may be the only hope for some of those children

I think that everyone should have at least 13 children and call them your "rainbow tribe."

Like that great female singer, during the 1930's, who adopted that many children of all ethnicities.

She married a French band leader, who was a great guy, but the financial burden was too great, even for the wealthiest people.

In fact, before the children, they had so much land that the postage stamp was a rendered their property, and an entire zip code just for their domain.

During WWII, all of her children were taken away, due to welfare issues, and temporarily adopted.

She assisted the french underground, which was later termed the "French Resistanace," which concluded with many successfull secret missions, against the Germans and their sympathizers.

Her children were later adopted by Princess Grace of Monaco, and the others to her husband, the band leader.

And she died basically on stage doing what she loved in a small tourist cabaret, on the French Riviera.

Does anyone remember her name?

Or that of her husband?

And how are the children doing?

That's the most important, the children.
