i just did a response to hotmamajama'a "i hate elvira" blog. read it.

i'm latino and my mom did the border thing. she had the rocks back inthe 60's to stand up for what she believed in and still does. she didn't let something like not having papers make her hide or cringe because the white ladies whose homes she cleaned, threatened her and tried to make her feel stupid. she told them what time it was and has never backed down. of course it was a different time then. today these guys will get beat, or killed for making a scene.

you know when you look at the big picture - i don't think god drew up the world with borders and walls and ICE agents in mind. when we pass on, no one will care what side of the border we died on....

I just moved here from Hawaii ( i got divorced and left my job) but it's interesting to see that no matter where you go there is discrimination. Hawaii has a huge problem with this..believe it or not. Any one that isn't Hawaiian, well anyone who wasn't born and raised there, has nothing coming. I loved the beautiful island for being natural and beautiful but the people there are something else!! I have a short haircut, so i'm associated with the military, which they don't like. I'm latino, so i'm out. you just can't win. So i moved back to l.a. and got a room with mom... while i get back on my feet.

It's all the same - anywhere you go. California, Hawaii, anywhere. That's the reality of the world we live in :(

What island brah? I was living on Maui and got a lot of [...] for being fair skinned, boy was it a shock to be pulled over because I "was driving erratically".

You_Aint , Your comment just confirms your ignorance . The people that are being used by these rich big wigs are desperate to stay away from their corrupt and sometimes war riden countries . Many will sacrafice themselves in order to stay in U.S. so they can live a decent and safe life.

There is no such thing as an ILLEGAL human being. ALL human beings are LEGAL human beings.

This story is just anotehr Conservative Republican hypocrisy. They act all tough on immigration, yet they most likely employ many immigrants and mistreat and under pay them. Absolutely disgusting that people are treated like this, especially in modern times.

You're a good person! Don't let these hatemongers spook you. Stand up for what is right and what you believe in.
