So... I have been working on my annual flower garden and it isn't going well. My beautiful dahlias and gerber daises are UNDER ATTACK. Squirrels and bunnies are digging into my magical mulch and destroying my enchanting summer view.

I have asked the experts about preventing these violent and unwelcome attacks. Some have suggested red pepper - black pepper and one expert even said I sould lay a plastic black snack in the flower bed to scare the flower killa's away.

Please review this video and email me your suggestions... looking forward to hearing some great ideas !!

I have also heard that (excuse the indelicate reference here from The Social Grace) male urine is a squirrel deterrent. And less scatalogical, but allegedly effective as well, blood meal, which is available at garden supply stores. Clearly the former is a more convenient and cost effective measure--and I know of few men, whether age 1 to 81 who would object to "claiming their territory" on behalf of your floral pursuits. Good Luck!

Grace - I don't mean to LEAP on a faux pass, but, we heard you the FIRST time, my dear.

Perhaps it is the heat, or perhaps you have WAITED a long, long time for the opportunity to mention that males are wont to mark their territory and the ALWAYS seems to be a shortage of "no trespassing" signs.

And, if I may point this out, males NEVER get credit for "making do" with what's at hand.

I've also heard that fox urine will keep critters at bay.

Although, I don't know whether it is the urine of the male or female fox.

You can buy this at any store that sells animal whizz.

Where ever you shop, when you walk in the door and someone says "May I help you?"

Look 'em straight in the eye and say...

"Yeah, where's your animal whizz"?

Just to keep them on their toes.

Grace - I know your busy with the Summer season approaching...

but are you up for a scientific experiment ?

Which COULD launch you into heretofore unattained reaches of fame ?

You mark off half of Jenn's flower beds and I'll mark the other half.

And we'll see which half the animals avoid.

Maybe we could get Michelle Williams to do a "Deal or Dud" segment.

If nothing else, we will enhance Jenn's enchanting Summer view.

Hi JT,
Yes, the repetition was an oops. Let's chalk it up to the heat slowing down my synapses, and rendering my tech skills weaker than their usual level, that of a chimp.

Your study does sound fascinating, but I fear that if I were to be seen "fertilizing" Jenn's (or anyone's) flower beds, I would risk my status as The Social Grace. I do think your idea has merit, though; perhaps you could seek funding through the PA Horticultural Society and present your findings at their next garden party. That would shake things up, no?

Great to hear from you. Stay cool.

Hi Grace, it's been great hearing from you as well.

I won't bother to suggest that we could do this at night with bags over our heads, because you're too classy of a dame to wear a bag over your head.

And I don't want to imagine a world without you as The Social Grace.
It would create a vacuum with unclassy types vying for your title.

Speaking of unclassy types, Monica and Gennifer are offering "Bill stories" for $1.99.

Is that a $1.99 a minute ?
