We saw the aftermath of a foreclosure as part of our story today.  What a mess!  It’s sad to see people lose their homes, but it’s also sad to see such little care for how they leave the property.  This was a nice Plano house that we found filled with trash, fast food wrappers and broken glass.  The former occupants also decided to empty their fire extinguisher all over the house.

I guess, frustrated homeowners getting evicted from a house think they are getting back at the bank by trashing the place.  Maybe they don’t realize, the bank never sees the property.  Constables (paid with our tax dollars) and movers hired by the bank deal with the mess.  Then the property goes up for auction.  Nobody who cares sees the aftermath of the temper tantrums thrown by these homeowners.

Sadly, the biggest losers in these situations are other property owners nearby who not only face having a vacant house on their street, but a trashed vacant house.  What a nice gift to leave behind for your neighbors.

It is very sad to see the mis-directed rage.
They should be angry with themselves for buying a home that they most likely knew that they could not afford.
They should also be angry with themselves for not educating themselves on the various loans and which loans to avoid.
Before we bought our house, I read several books on finance and home buying. I did not want to be an ignorant victim when I started to work with a real estate agent.
When we did find our real estate agents, (husband and wife team) I set the rules.
I insisted on a 15 year fixed interest loan. I also did not want to buy at the top of the scale that we qualified for. (I know my budget)
We have 12 payments left on that house and it feels great.

People are looking for a way to vent their rage to someone else. When the one they should be blaming "in most cases" is themselves for poor money management.

Have any of you considered the people that did have great credit and sound money management, but whom lost their houses as a result of a loss of job, medical catatrophe or whatever? Have any of you ever lost a house? That's what I thought. The herd mentality strikes again.

We bought a home on a short sale, a sale that only lasts 3 days before foreclosure. When these homes go for sale there is rarely time for a home inspection because of the price. The bank sends a contractor in before the sale to "hide" the wrongs of the house. Believe me, we are having to fix all those hidden damages now. So if the last tenants destroyed it the bank will just hide it, making the bank as scuzzy as the tenants

scotty, i understand what you're saying and you are right. IMO the majority of ppl are losing their homes not due to bad money mngt but due to a loss of income. We have had close calls before and it's scary. My worst fear in life is to be homeless. I'd have to rethink my beliefs on suicide first

At one time in the 80's I lost it all. A tragedy struck my gal and I and we lost it all. I wound up living in the woods for 3 weeks, even through a hurricane. I worked at a day labor service for $3.35 an hour. I'll write a blog on it...

There's still no excuse for trashing the place but I understand the anger.

I know our church has a ministry for that but they don't advertise it.
