Ok… I want to finally leave the dark ages and get rid of my old beat up brick phone that’s been weighing me down for years.  I have been looking at getting a smart phone, but the options are kind of overwhelming.  Any advice out there about phones you like or hate?

I don't have one, but people I know that do, LOVE the IPhone. Lots of bells and whistles, if that's what you want and it is awesome!
Personally, my flip phone works great and all I care about is a good connection.

Well I chose the motorola V365 you can run over this phone and still talk on it. It has the longest talk and stand-by time of all the moto phones. It is also very dependable as I have been known to be some what hard on cell phones in general.

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the smart phones. My needs are more about depenability. If you want smart, I guess the
I-phone is what you need, just not for me.

Most people like the razor and it is more suited for the public in general. Hope this helps. www.motorola.com

If I can 'get bars' and call when I want, I am happy. A phone is a phone, not a calculator, and not computer. The size of the bill also means a lot.

I have tried a lot of regular phones. At present I am with Verizion and use a Motorola Flip phone..It works everywhere I go..I dont loose calls, and has easy access (for a middle age person)..in other words "not too complicated". I was unimpressed with the other carriers service, more so, than the actual phone.

Also-The one I have has internet and camera. Makes it easy to carry your "office". Battery last well..My next one will be with the TV built in so I can watch the fox4 bunch..HAHAH.

I have found this true with any gadget, car or house-the more "features" the greater the likelihood of something breaking down. Part of the reason our many "things" we want are so pricey is that we refuse to take the basic model. All I need for a cell phone to do is make phone calls and record messages. If I wanted a computer, I would get an implant. If I wanted an IPod, I would buy one. The more complex any gadget becomes, the greater the possibility that they have lowered the quality of the individual functions overall. You can't expect days of battery life from a phone that has too many features. But try finding even a phone without a camera and see how hard it is. It's like bundled phone services-you can't even figure out what you are paying for because of the bundling.

In other words Jason, it doesn't matter, get whatever you like. It's like a computer, by the time you learn how to use it, it's outdated !

Two of my adult kids have razor phones and really like them.

I have a flip cingular that does about everything I need and somethings I don't ever use.

I finally broke down a couple weeks ago and bought the IPhone and I love it! It does have all the bells and whistles but is still so easy to operate.

I highly recommend it!

Jason - Blackberry just released it's "Pearl" - it depends on your carrier, though.

Samsung is coming out with a new smartphone (I am a samsung/moto/LG person) supposed to be out soon - v780 or something like that. I have never had a smart phone - it would really be more than I need.

LG DOES have now, though a regular cell (I think it is called the "Voyager") that also has a full html browser on it.

The best places to go to look up by carrier, read reviews, etc. is cnet.com, then click on "Reviews", then click on "Cell Phones". You can choose by carrier, by type of phone, by brand, etc. Another spot is phonescoop - they have the latest on what is supposed to be released and when.

Good luck!!

Well I might be biased here I work for At&t and I absolutely love the IPHONE.. This phone can do everything but make popcorn.. And with Apple lowering its prices..this phone is a steal.. And I believe that AT&T has the best network around period!! I have travelled all over the country as well as Europe and my IPHONE has never failed me at all!
