In all fairness to our service men and woman, we need to review the people selected as candidates for President this year. We read how our military had been placed into battle without the proper armor protection, where the security of our base camps were compromised and the lack of review and repair of problems with quarters for those in battle.
But where does the fault lie in these problems? Every candidate up for election is a public servant, they have access to all reports, both good and bad, from weapons to quarters and housing safety, yet why is there no oversight by our elected officials ? They set the times that they sit in the house and decide our laws and bill's then go home, write books and campaign for election funds and votes, yet the very things they profess to stand for and keep resolve on are neglected and people , including our military personnel, die or are injured.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth is a victim of this error, the US Army and Navy, both have construction and engineer divisions, where are they ? and why are our military subject to civilian contractors while we have these divisions at our disposal? Civilian contractors use the excuse of certain jobs not being in a contract as the reason for construction and repair safety, yet the difference is not set to the responsibility of military engineers, but let to neglect and not addressed until a mishap or tragedy occurs. He died on January 2nd, yet we are just finding out publicly and it seems his family are deceived about how he died.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth's death was not only a tragedy, it was the loss of one of the best our military produced and the loss of one of the few that could be depended on in any instance to provide leadership and execution of orders that would have, and did, make a difference in battle and planning. We have great service men and women, but the loss of this man places a huge void in the US Army, not to mention his family. May God Bless him and his family.

Our Congress and President approve the budget for this war, it is also their responsibility to direct these funds to the proper place for distribution and commit oversight to ensure the funds are applied to the proper places. Not too long ago Congress gave themselves a raise, what exactly did we get for this, not more time on the hill, nor an increase in resolve to better America or our military, yet here we are voting for them as President of our nation. They continue to prove to us that they are not willing to oversee their decisions, so why do they expect us to believe that they can lead us into a better future.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth was a great American and his death was an even greater loss.!!
A disgusted American

This is a hot topic in the news today, thank you CNN(we call that Communist Network News) here in the Desert.
What they fail to mention is that the contractors (KBR) care for primarily Hard Stand buildings which are buildings that existed when we got here in some of the larger communities we relieved the Terrorists of.
What they also fail to mention is that there are Military safety and quality control people in place at every installation to assure the contractors are fulfilling their responsibilities. SAFETY and QUALITY CONTROL, or as I like to refer to it, Follow Through

cont'd.
It's always easy to lay blame. My question is ..."Did everybody do their job"? The situation that led to this soldiers death was an existing problem. Where were the military safety inspectors, the QC bubbas? There are monthly inspections mandated, no matter where we live here. I work with these people every day. Somebody wasn't doing their job.
You ask where are the construction engineers?? They are foward with me building outposts, roads, bridges, fuel farms, power grids and the like. That's where we are. KBR makes sure our portashitters are pumped and we have AC in the hooch when we get back from a mission to our hard stand. Of course it's the rear eschelon's job to babysit the contractors.

The construction units are real busy, trust me, I'm living it as we speak, it's what I do. We don't have time to pump portashitters.
So CNN, put the whole story out. JW, research before you spout. Leave it to those us that live it to give you the scoop.
Don't get me wrong. The death of any service member is tragic, and no matter the circumstance this man is a HERO. Just don't let the likes of CNN give you a 1/3 of the story.

I also understand where you are coming from, but as my resourses are limited, meaning, i am running solo, i have to take what information i can find and apply it, hopefully to recieve relies from good honest people like you, and put the o'l truth puzzle together.
I also have a question, in your opinion, are the Seabee's and army E-corps able to function in an expanded context, meaning, does the military actually need civilian contractors.???
