Why is it that Sarah Palin has been subject to unfair press coverage, of her and of her family?

Whether it's political or sexism, what is it that drives someone to believe the worst and perpetuate the worst in terms of gossip and lies about a person?

Katie Couric and Tina Fey had a good time of capitalizing and exploiting Sarah. Why?

Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric's ratings have risen since their capitalizing and condescension of Sarah and of her family.

The Media had a jolly good time exploiting Sarah, her family & her administration.

That says a great deal about our society, doesn't it?

The obsessively panic driven coverage by the Media concerning her daughter Bristol was especially hurtful and unnecessary.

After the Couric interviews,  Mrs.Palin said she knew things were not going well after their first session and asked the McCain campaign to pull the plug on the remaining ones, but the campaign insisted that she needed to go through with the remainder of the interviews.

    The U.S. prosecutors were allowed to represent a known felon and illegal alien without requiring him to appear in court!!!  Meanwhile, Ramos and Compean were beaten with trumped up charges, false evidence, and perjured federal testimony!!!

    The gist?  Patriot Agents Ramos and Compean were sent to federal prison for a combined 23 years because they failed to get permission before engaging an armed drug trafficker on the U.S.-Mexican border.

    This case was not only scandalous...it's criminal.  What a mockery of the rule of law!!!

        "The fact that the president has neglected to free these men from their imprisonment while freeing drug dealers, embezzlers and other criminals is insulting to the American people. For the sake of justice, let's hope this is not the last round of pardons and commutations."

    And conservative stalwart, Phyllis Schlafly, inveighed:

        "The severity of these charges and the harshness of the punishment are totally disproportionate to the violation in question. Even the illegal drug smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, was sentenced to less prison time than our fellow American border guards!"

And border security champion, Congressman Tom Tancredo, declared about the Ramos and Compean:

    "These are the kinds of men whose government failed and destroyed them - all while they were serving a cause greater than themselves. These men deserve justice.     To be sure, President Obama will NOT consider a pardon of Ramos and Compean in a hundred years! 

    A Bush pardon IS OUR ONLY HOPE for Ramos and Compean!  If the president fails to pardon these patriots, they'll serve a combined sentence of nearly a quarter-century.  THIS IS INTOLERABLE!!!

    AND YET, though over 100 Congressmen have co-sponsored a resolution calling for the full pardon of Ramos and Compean, the Bush Administration is persistent in its deafening silence...

    What kind of message does such a scandal send to the U.S. Border Patrol?  You guessed it: "Don't do your job or you'll catch hellfire for it from the highest office in the country."

    What message does this send to the American people?  Yep, right again: "We don't mind spending billions on fighting terrorism around the world, but we're gonna leave the back door WIDE OPEN."

Initiative to End Anchor Baby Citizenship Needs Help

Dear Friends,

I want to call your attention to a statewide initiative in California that may change the debate on the automatic citizenship that is wrongly bestowed upon children born to illegal aliens and foreign visitors in the United States. The initiative -- The California Taxpayer Protection Act -- is being planned for the June 2010 California ballot. This may seem like a distant point on the horizon, but it's really not when you consider the herculean efforts necessary to secure a spot on the ballot in the state. Supporters are being sought from across the nation for this important initiative.

Initiative Background

The initiative is sponsored by Taxpayer Revolution and authored by Ted Hilton, a scholar of Constitutional Law and expert on the 14th Amendment's original intent. The measure has three major provisions that would:

• Create a second type of California birth certificate for children born to illegal aliens and others who are not permanent residents. The current certificate would be limited to children with at least one parent who submits an affidavit stating that he or she is a citizen or a permanent legal resident (Social Security Number verified);

• Restrict illegal alien parents from applying for child-only CalWORKS benefits (TANF) for their U.S. born child by requiring lawful presence of all applicants; and

• Limit public benefits by requiring a signed affidavit under penalty of perjury that one is a citizen or qualified alien, and using the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program to verify legal residency.

Birth mothers who are not citizens or legal residents would be required to: apply for a birth certificate in person; provide complete identity including means of support; submit three passport type photographs; and be fingerprinted. All of this information would be provided to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Such mothers also would pay an additional $75 fee.

Qualifying the Initiative

To qualify for the ballot, the initiative requires 433,971 signatures. Since a cushion is needed for security, the proponents are seeking a total of 550,000. The last month to begin signature gathering, which must occur over a five-month period, is June 2009. However, experts believe that the best five-month period for gathering signatures is February through June.

Reasons to Support

NumbersUSA has long supported ending the automatic granting of U.S. citizenship to children born here to illegal aliens, finally righting a misguided and unintended interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment. Prior to the introduction of this initiative, we have promoted passage of bills in Congress to this end. Those bills have not been successful and are not likely to see action in the 111th Congress. As such, we need to consider an alternative means for moving forward.

Passing an initiative in California requiring the issuance of two types of birth certificates will ignite the national debate needed as a precursor to ending automatic citizenship. Success in California will set the stage for other states to follow and likely prompt litigation that could give the U.S. Supreme Court an opportunity to rule. The high court has never decided a citizenship case for children of temporary residents or those here illegally. We are confident such a case would finally end this misbegotten policy.

The initiative has already been endorsed by Representatives Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.; Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus Chair) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), Ward Connerly (proponent of English language and other initiatives), Peter Nunez (former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury), the California American Legion, and others.

We are coming down to the wire.

Thousands of Democratic activists, backed by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, have descended on Georgia this weekend.

This coming Tuesday they will be working to get every Democratic vote to the polls to defeat Republican Saxby Chambliss.

They want to give Obama and the Democrats effective control of the whole U.S. Congress.

This past week former Democratic U.S. Sen. Zell Miller came out of retirement to cross party lines to strongly endorse Chambliss.

Zell Miller said he took this bold move because "this is the big one." He said this Georgia race "is a history-changing election . . . . the world is watching this election.”

As you know, Miller is the courageous Senator who broke with his fellow Democrats to stand strong on the War on Terror.

Now, Miller is warning Americans that Saxby Chambliss is the “last man standing” to prevent a “far-left agenda” from taking control of the U.S. Congress.

He is right. This is why the work of the National Republican Trust is so critical.

We are planning a final massive "Get Out the Vote" effort to mobilize millions of Georgian Republicans in the next 3 days.

The truth is, the tax and spend crowd is just looking for ways to increase taxes on American consumers by targeting domestic energy production. At a time when already high energy costs are weighing heavy on this country’s economy, and when signs are indicating that even more trouble may be ahead, why would Congress seek to pass legislation that will raise prices and increase financial hardships by strangling America’s energy supply? Congress should be looking to cut taxes, not increase them. Higher energy prices won’t avert or minimize a recession. They’ll do just the opposite.

Take Action now to stop higher energy costs!

Tax increases like those passed through the House (including bills that violated the Taxpayer Protection Pledge) would stifle investment, and the domestic energy it produces. One chief target of the left is the destruction of Section 199 of the tax code, which would chase away capital now being invested here at home by America’s oil and natural gas producers. The right way to promote the use of alternative energy is not limiting access to new domestic energy sources of oil and natural gas, or imposing new taxes on the U.S. oil and gas industry. Such an approach will not help supply stable and affordable energy to satisfy the demands of American families, especially at a time when Americans are already struggling in today’s economic slowdown.

What it will do is help push the economy over the precipice into deep recession by driving up the costs of driving our cars, heating our homes and creating jobs.

In addition, raising taxes on domestic energy makes U.S. oil and natural gas exploration projects less competitive globally, discouraging new U.S. production and increasing our reliance on imported oil. As if that weren’t damaging enough, almost all large oil and gas companies are publicly-traded entities, whose shares are owned by millions of investors through their 401(k) plans, IRAs and pension funds. Taxing away the retirement earnings of these millions of Americans won’t help anyone except the taxman.

Taxpayers Foot Bill For Roughly 300,000 Children Born Into Citizenship When Their Parents Are Illegal

"It was 5 a.m. and CBS News national correspondent Byron Pitts is with a woman who is nine months pregnant. She's rushed to a south Texas hospital to undergo a C-section - a $4,700 medical procedure that won't cost her a dime. She qualifies for emergency Medicaid.

She gave birth to a healthy, 8 1/2 pound baby boy - born in America. His Mexican mother gave him an American name: Eliot.

Eliot is one of an estimated 300,000 children of illegal immigrants born in the United States every year, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. They're given instant citizenship because they are born on U.S. soil, which makes it easier for their parents to become U.S. citizens.

That's because those babies can eventually sponsor their parents - when they turn 21 years old.

As for Eliot's mother, no longer as fearful of deportation, she told CBS News her name, Fabiola, and her story.

"So your son is an American citizen. What does that mean to you?" Pitts asked.

"I am very glad that he was born. That's why I came here - so my children, my husband and I could have a better life," she said through a translator.

Back in December, when she was six months pregnant, Fabiola, her husband and their two daughters - ages 4 and 11 - crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico into the U.S.

Once on the other side of the river they walked for two hours in search of a better life and free medical care for their unborn child.

"Do many women in Mexico make the choice to have their children in the United States?" Pitts asked.

"Yes," she said through a translator. "I know people who have done that. Things are much better here in the U.S. because they help children so much more."

It's a "better" life ... that American taxpayers help pay for.

Take healthcare for example -- an estimated $1.1 billion per year for undocumented men, women and children, according to the Rand Corporation."

"Illegal immigrants are pouring into tax-preparation offices and nonprofit agencies across Massachusetts and the nation to file state and federal income taxes, taking a step that some might deem unthinkable: giving their name, address, and financial information to the government.

In Massachusetts, taxpayers here illegally are lining up from Chelsea to the Berkshires, despite the fear of deportation that is permeating the state after a massive raid in New Bedford last year and smaller raids in Boston-area cities and towns. While typical American taxpayers are wary of the Internal Revenue Service, illegal immigrants see the IRS as a friendly agency that could help in their quest for legal residency.

"It's catching on that this is one of the things that you do" as a resident of the United States, said Corinn Williams, executive director of the Community Economic Development Center in New Bedford, which is getting 10 calls a day, double the number it got a year ago, from immigrants who want help filing taxes. "If you're making a case that you want to stay here, without a doubt that's one of the things that the judge is going to look at."

They called our troops "traitors," "predators," and "murderers." Move America Forward mobilized hundreds of pro-troop supporters to show up in defense of the Marines, and we made national headlines for outnumbering Code Pink in their own backyard.

• Several movies have just come out that slam the efforts of our troops in Iraq including the new movie "Redacted" which falsely depicts U.S. troops as bloodthirsty rapists.

They will give up time with their families, friends and loved ones and be away from home during the holidays to lead this national pro-troop "Honoring Our Heroes at the Holidays Tour."

Lt. Colonel Buzz Patterson: A 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Colonel Patterson was selected to serve as chief military attaché‚ to the President of the United States. He carried the "nuclear football" and is the bestselling author of "Reckless Disregard," "Dereliction of Duty" and the new book, "War Crimes." During his military service, Colonel Patterson spent many holidays away from home and so he is motivated to do what he can to show support to the men and women serving overseas today.

Gold Star Mom Debbie Lee: Debbie's son, Marc Alan Lee, was the first Navy Seal to be killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Debbie's met with President Bush on multiple occasions and is a staunch supporter of the missions of our troops. In May and again in September, Debbie Lee teamed up with military mom Deborah Johns to confront Senator Harry Reid at his offices in Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. over his attacks on the missions of our troops and his shameful declaration that, "this war is lost."

Blue Star Mom Deborah Johns: Her son, Sgt. William Johns, is a U.S. Marine who has served 3 tours of duty in Iraq and stands ready for a possible 4th deployment. Deborah Johns is one of the leading pro-troop voices in this country - she led the national caravan of thousands of military supporters who went to Crawford, Texas in 2005 to stand up against Cindy Sheehan.

When the "Honoring Our Heroes at the Holidays Tour" arrives in Washington, D.C. they will host a musical concert for our wounded warriors from Walter Reed Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital. The concert, "A Song for Their Service" will feature a collection of accomplished singers and songwriters who will treat these injured warriors to a special holiday performance to let them know how much we care about them and appreciate their service to this nation.

The final stop for the "Honoring Our Heroes at the Holidays Tour" will be an event at the World Trade Center Grounds - as they stop to remember those lives lost in the awful attack against our nation on September 11, 2001 - and recognize the service of our military men and women who are doing everything they can to ensure that another such attack against our nation does not happen again.

PBS and Florentine Films have partnered with the Veterans History Project (VHP) in a massive effort to capture the stories of men and women who experienced the war first-hand before the generation that witnessed World War II has passed.

The Veterans History Project is part of the Library of Congress and honors American war veterans and civilian workers who supported them by preserving stories of their service to our country. VHP collects and archives the one-of-a-kind stories that represent the diversity of the veterans who served our country — veterans from all conflicts, from all branches of the military, all ranks, all races and ethnicities.

FREEDOM HEROS

May I share something with you I think you'd like to know? It's something that happened to the Commandant of our Marine Corps, General Paul Kelley, while he was visiting our critically injured marines in an Air Force hospital. It says more than any of us could ever hope to say about the gallantry and heroism of these young men, young men who serve so willingly so that others might have a chance at peace and freedom in their own lives and in the life of their country.

I'll let General Kelley's words describe the incident. He spoke of a "young marine with more tubes going in and out of his body than I have ever seen in one body."

"He couldn't see very well. He reached up and grabbed my four stars, just to make sure I was who I said I was. He held my hand with a firm grip. He was making signals, and we realized he wanted to tell me something. We put a pad of paper in his hand - and he wrote 'Semper Fi.' "

Well, if you've been a marine or if, like myself, you're an admirer of the marines, you know those words are a battle cry, a greeting, and a legend in the Marine Corps. They're marine shorthand for the motto of the Corps - "Semper Fidelis" - "always faithful."

General Kelley has a reputation for being a very sophisticated general and a very tough marine. But he cried when he saw those words, and who can blame him? That marine and all those others like him living and dead, have been faithful to their ideals. They've given willingly of them selves so that a nearly defenseless people in a region of great strategic importance to the free world will have a chance someday to live lives free of murder and mayhem and terrorism. I think that young marine and all of his comrades have given every one of us something to live up to.
