To Helen,
My Dearest Helen, you were the grandmother I never had. You loved me like my mother never did. You were funny, sarcastic, would tell a politician where to go, and you got it. You had more common sense in one finger than anyone I know. You brought beauty to The Broadmoor when you were the florist there and you made the people living in the dorms back in the day feel like they were at home.
You raised your family to be strong supportive men and your grandchildren for all their youth are strong hardworking men also.
My fondest memory of you is when the apple tree in the yard produced this amazing crop of the sweetest apples and you brought me liquid sunshine in a bowl when you made applesauce.
Your legacy endures and we are better people for having known you. You are the grandmother I never had. I'll see you on the other side when my life here has finished.
I love and miss you deeply.
Jim
