I had to drive through Pine Hills last night on W Colonial around 7pm.  While Pine Hills is never a "pleasant" drive and I'm always hoping I never break down there, this time it made my jaw drop in amazement.

W Colonial was cordoned off, completely, around John Young, to mercy Dr, I believe, then the eastbound lane past Pine Hills Rd.  Police cars were blocking EVERY parking lot in this zone (so much for me being able to return my water pump core to the 24 hour parts store).

I saw nothing on the news after I got home.  There's been nothing about this on the 5am news this morning.  I see nothing online here.

It's perplexing that such an amazing police deployment wasn't plastered on the news.  What caused this?  I have never seen such a police deployment in Orlando in the 10+ years I've lived here.

This also raises the question - is there an online police blotter somewhere, where we might look up things like this (or even smaller calls)?

I think we havn't heard about it because; who cares what happens in pine hills? That place is an arm pit and very little, if any, good comes out of that area. So who gives a shi+.

To some degree, I agree with you; Pine Hills is the sump of the Orlando area; yet this was more than a few cruisers reporting to a call. It was more than a secondary road blocked off for an accident or crime scene.

No, this was a MAJOR deployment on a MAJOR traffic artery through Orlando! There were dozens of cruisers dedicated to this and it was for a stretch of roughly 2 miles.

It seems a shame we continually hear about minutia and yet a major event like this is not only not on the news but isn't even in a sidebar on the website.

I wish the 35 News Team would comment on this. What happened and why was this not deemed newsworthy?

On my business card, it says "Renaissance Man". That sums it up somewhat succinctly...
