I just read a story about a Dad in Idaho who was driving his kids to their mother's house for Christmas.  His car got stuck in the snow and so he had them walk the last 10 miles to get there.  Sadly the 11 year old girl did not make it.  She was found frozen to death by searchers in a snow bank.

The Dad is now charged with second degree murder.

Should he be charged with murder and abuse for sending his young daughter out alone in the cold or was this just an accident?

This is one of the saddest thing I've read in a while....

A Child Wrote Santa a letter pleading for her molestation to end.  It happened in Texas.

The girl turned in the letter to her Elementary school.  It was her one Christmas wish.  The abuse had been going on for years.  She asked for the same thing for her sister.

The man was tracked down and arrested.  Her wish was granted.

This story put into perspective the wishes of so many this season.  While some children want a simple toy.  Other wish for an end to their hunger, for peace not on Earth but in their own home.  There is so much need, and so much we all have to offer.

My Christmas wish... is that no child will ever have to make such a plea again.

SICK SURVEILLANCE: GOOGLE REPORTS FLU SEARCHES, LOCATIONS TO FEDS
Tue Nov 11 2008 15:34:50 ET

GOOGLE will launch a new tool that will help federal officials "track sickness".

"Flu Trends" uses search terms that people put into the web giant to figure out where influenza is heating up, and will notify the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in real time!

GOOGLE, continuing to work closely with government, claims it would keep individual user data confidential: "GOOGLE FLU TRENDS can never be used to identify individual users because we rely on anonymized, aggregated counts of how often certain search queries occur each week."

Engineers will capture keywords and phrases related to the flu, including thermometer, flu symptoms, muscle aches, chest congestion and others.

Good for us or bad for us?

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Jail officials said Casey Anthony and her defense attorney, Jose Baez, were seen hugging on two separate occasions and were told both times that it was a violation of jail policy.

Though there is no surveillance video that would show the two hugging, jail officials confirm seeing the two touch on two different times.

The jail released the following statement:

Mr. Baez was observed hugging his client on two occasions. He was advised that this is a violation of jail policy. After the second incident, he was again advised of the policy and said he would remember in future visits not to engage in this behavior. Orange County Corrections considers this a closed matter."

Denis LearyIn his new book, Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid, Denis Leary writes that autism is a joke.

"There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kids can't compete academically, so they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons. I don't give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He's just stupid. Or lazy. Or both."
