I can't believe I have lost about 45 pounds since Lily Rae was born June 20th! Actually I can't believe I gained that much in the first place. Yep, I joined the 200 pound club (actually about 203!!) -  Guess I just enjoyed a lot of Blue Bell!!  :)

What's really scary is when I look back to before Emmy - I gained more than 75 pounds over the two pregnancies!! I am NOT at all promoting a large weight gain during pregnancy - each person is different and my Dr. watched me and said everything was great. There was no gestational diabetes and the girls and I were perfectly healthy throughout the pregnancies. Now I just need to get back in shape to keep up with my babies!!

I am writing this post because I could use some help. I seem to be hovering around the 158 mark (at 5'8" that's not horrible, but I still need to lose). My pre-Emmy weight was 125 - not sure if I will get down that low or not. I am still nursing (yes, that's alot of info, but it's important because I have to keep a high calorie count, can't do some crazy diet, or exercise non-stop).

If any moms (or dads!) have some post-baby ideas for weight loss - let me know. Jeff and I just bought a two-seater jogging stroller and we LOVE it. We take the girls on walks/jogs around the neighborhood - and are going to use it in the upcoming Komen Race for the Cure on October 18th. (did you see the PSA yet featuring Emmy and Lily Rae??).

Baron James asked me how I lost the weight - and really, I have just been doing Mommy stuff  - carrying one, playing with the other... you know how that goes! But if you do have any tips - I would really appreciate you passing them on. Have a great day!!

PS -  I posted this under Faith because I pray every night for my children's health and safety. So I figure this is my health  - may as well post here!

First off, you look great!

Doing mommy stuff is the way to go. I gained 60 pounds with my first one (joined your coveted 200 club haha) and lost 45 of it just by being busy. Breast feeding is helpful to a point. Now that I'm pregnant with my second I am watching my weight far more closely. No more 60 lb gains!!

Have you ever tried keeping a journal of everything you eat each day? I tried that for a month and it really helped me to understand what my issues were. Starvation diets (hoodia, dramatic caloric decreases) don't work because they are temporary. None of the fad diets work because if you ever decide to eat normally again they will immediately reverse.

Slow and steady wins the race! Just my experience. I applaud your efforts as I understand the constant battle! Keep it up!

Geez! I expected more suggestions from all the know-it-alls we have on here! C'mon ladies!

Hi TI - Your second post made me laugh because I was thinking the same thing... well, except for the know-it-all part!! I just know lots of people have been where I am - and it's tough losing the weight!!!

Congrats on Baby #2 - that's great you are watching your weight this time. When's the baby due??

I like your idea - slow and steady to get the weight off. My goal is by Lily Rae's first birthday... so we'll see!!!

Congrats again!

Thanks! My second isn't due until April - I actually have been plotting to maintain my current weight as long as possible since I still have a little left from last time. Hah!

I'm sure you can do it - all it takes is determination. Remember that it took you almost a year to gain the weight! Your girls are adorable.

After baby #2 I actually did Jenny Craig and was adamant about not going off the diet. I lost about 25 lbs eating their food. Now that my youngest is 6 something whacky has happened to my metabolism which I am loving! I'm eating normally and am weighing in at 120! At 5'8'' that's pretty small for me. With my first pregnancy I kind of let myself go and thought it was cute to eat for 2. . . I topped off at 200 lbs!!

Just be patient Heather, the weight will come off. I personally think you look great but it must be added stress for you when appearance is such a big part of your job!!! Your lovely though.

Grace

oooohhh! I didn't know we got to be in a club for making the 200 mark!!

I've always wanted to be a member of something. . .

Gosh Grace - can you imagine having to answer to a camera every day!? Whew. I'm glad I can hide in my office sometimes! :)

Okay, we've got three former members. I'll invite some of the girls from work...

And yes, doing the mommy stuff will help so much. Mine are 19 months apart so I can relate to having 2 in diapers. I wouldn't do it any other way though. My girls are so close. I often look in the back seat and they are holding hands and tell each other "I love you" often.

I don't know why it's taking me three times to make a comment. Mommy brain!! Yeah, that's it.

Heck yes you get to be a member of the 200 Club, Grace!! And we are proud to have you!! :)

And thanks for the kind words!! I can't believe you are down to 120 - that's great.
My problem is I really LOVE ice cream (but it has to be Blue Bell!)... is that on the Jenny Craig menu??

Awww... LOVE the hand holding and I love you's!! That's so sweet. Emmy says "Hold" and puts her arms out to hold Lily Rae and when the baby is sleeping, Emmy will walk around, finger to her lips, saying, "Shhh!" Of course, then she is the one to scream out and wake Lily!!!

That does it - we need an ice cream eating contest to decide... Oh, wait - there's the whole diet thing.... :)

Haha no contests for us! I just make sure I have room in my daily caloric intake for a scoop. It's like a little treat for being good all day!

Ummm, Heather, you will have to eat what they tell you and PRETEND it's Blue Bell or you will not get a sticker at your weigh in. HA!!

There's a chocolate cake that I liked, but it may be that it tasted so good b/c I was starving?? It was about the size of the cakes my daughters make on their EasyBake oven. these bars that reminded me of dog treats.

LOL at Emmy saying "shhhhhh". I remember my Olivia doing that when her sister was sleeping.

The Lord knows that I am made to have big, stinky boys. I wouldn't know what to do with a sweet little girl who didn't care for wrestling and baseball and getting muddy... They sound sweet though!

LOL TI.

The three of us were doing our hair and I let them put on a little lipstick and perfume and my thoughts were I wouldn't know what to do with sweaty little boys. My oldest wants me to find a sport for her where she doesn't have to "get all sweaty".

That's mah girl!!!!

Y'all are SO funny! Emmy is now into playing with my make-up while I get ready for work. Arms reaching out saying "puh-lee" (it's not quite "please" yet) as she tries to get to my make up case - and when she gets it - it gets dumped upside down... lipsticks and eye liners roll under counters... and then I get to work with only half of what I need. And the rest of what is there - the eye shadow and blush - is cracked into tiny little pieces! I LOVE IT!!! :)

I anchor the 6 and 9 p.m. news – along with my dear friend and "work husband" Steve Eagar. Together we have won Edward R. Murrow, AP, and Katie Awards (Thanks for carrying me, Steve!). And I won an Emmy for Best Anchor. But now I have a new role - Mommy! Jeff and I have two little girls - Emmy (Jeff said I have an Emmy - so he wants one, too!) and Lily Rae. The girls are 14 months apart so we definitely have our hands full! But it's wonderful!! I also want to tell you about my volunteer work - speaking to groups about suicide awareness. I lost my former fiance’ to suicide and recently published a book called "Surviving Suicide." You can find out more about that at www.heatherhays.com. Playtime is spent with the cutest chocolate lab ever, Rosco, and my amazing husband, Jeff - and of course, Emmy and Lily Rae. Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
