Non-Partisans ... having problems? This primary you are able to have one of three ballots -- one for NPs (with no presidential preference), one for Democrats or one for the American Independent Party. It seems from viewer calls and some voters speaking with our reporters that in Los Angeles County filling in bubbles on the ballot has some claiming bubble trouble!
In Los Angeles County voters registrered as "nonpartisan/decline to state? but who want to vote for American Independent or Democratic candidates in today presidential primary must mark the bubble saying so at the top of the ballot. According to the regisitrar's office, crossover votes will not be counted unless the "Democrat" or American Independent" bubble is selected in the party field at the top of the ballot.
The concern is that some voters are not fillng in the appropriate bubble which is creating confusion. Some public officials are even saying this could end up because cause for a recall.
Are you having a problem?

Do you believe that the elections are for real? Get with it, big money has bought two candidates called Hillary Clinton or John McCain, two of the least liked candidates for the presidency. If I were you my good man, maybe it is time to expose who the real money is financing these candidates. Mexican Government, Chinese Government, Global Businesses, Independent Marxists like George Soros and many other unpopular non mainstream agenda groups. Expose these before the so-called main election and the truth shall set you free!!!

OMG!!!! That is BS! My husband was registered decline to state, and no one told him to fill in any bubble! (I was with him) This really pisses me off, do you have any idea how hard it was for me to get him to go vote? Now you mean to tell me that it WONT EVEN COUNT?????? No wonder so many people dont even bother. Great, if he hears about this, I dont know how I'll ever get him to take the time to vote again. To top it off, he had voted for Obama, (I was so happy and proud of him) No wonder Hillary's ahead. jk.
But not about this "bubble" bs, that really does suck. I think the ladies at the church should've told us to fill in the stupid bubble, they where only “working” there. ??!! Good thing we didn’t have to wait in line for about an hour like the voters across the street did. Imagine going through all that- for nothing! Oh my goodness.

Hal:

I talked to Rick Jacobs, a voter activist, this afternoon just before he urged the LA County Bd of Supervisors to straighten out the DTS (declined to state) voter mess.

Jacobs says he's confident he won't have to sue to get the LA County Registrar of Voters to count the DTS ballots. The ballots in question are those where voters failed to indicate if they wanted to vote in the "Democrat" or "American Independent" presidential primary - by marking the appropriate "bubble." Not making that little mark meant your vote was NOT counted.

Jacobs said voters were confused - thinking they were being asked if they were Dem or AIP party members; being neither, why mark either bubble?

Also Jacobs said DTS voters who voted absentee only got the non-partisan portion of the ballot - the propositions - and were not clearly told that to vote in the presidential primary they had to request additional ballot materials.

Sounds pretty wild.

Thanks John for the update. The whole thing is pretty wild and faily limited. Los Angeles County seems to be the primary spot for the concern which I think its the result of each county doing its own election. For instance, in Ventura County where I vote there are NO BUBBLES. Our ballots are ones in which voters "fill in a line." And, if you are non-partisan your asked if you would like an NP ballot or a crossover one for the Democratic or American Independent parties. I don't think this is the last we have heard of the "bubble". Even if it doesn't come up as an issue in the primary, those concerned about any confusion it creates may be raising issues about it in the future.

I think its ridiculous. How can they not inform the poll works about this? These ballots MUST be excepted as is and counted. I encourage everyone to write to their state rep.s to get this handled quickly.
