the price of gas continues to go up. so how about some free gas?
click onto our "RealTime Traffic" show starting today(monday 7/7), for a chance to win $570.00 gas cards. every weekday for the next two months, we're teaming up with AM 570 to give away the gas cards.
but wait, there's more. tuesdays are "twofer tuesdays" along with the gas card you could win a trip on southwest airlines.
all you have to do is listen for the code word, click on the link, and you could be a winner.
also starting today on the traffic show-"route vs. route."
we'll send our reporters out with a live-drive camera to see which routes are faster. today: west la to woodland hills. is it faster to go up the 405 to the 101? or take pch to topanga canyon? find out today.
if you have any ideas for "route vs. route" email us at
traffic@fox11.com or post them here.

I'm writing this from the control room, as realtime traffic debuts 15 minutes earlier. we're now on at 4:30pm, making it easier for you to check out the latest traffic before you leave work. a busy monday on local freeways, a couple of sigalerts working. and we have the resources to make your commute as painless as possible. check it out, you can see the latest caltrans maps, live cameras all over the place, our live drive cams, and drive times.
the drive-time thing is cool-they tell you just how long it will take to drive various local freeways.
check it out-realtime traffic-click on from the myfoxla front page.

Traffic
Considering I've been producing content for our website since last august, I guess it's time I started blogging.
I am now producing our Realtime Traffic show. It's a live hour-and-a-half show produced exclusively for our website. Yup, an hour-and-a-half of traffic. It's amazing the resources the station is putting into the show:
a full control room crew. 2 anchors. skyfox. a chp officer. cal-trans traffic maps. live-drive cameras. they're going all out to do this right.
the live drive cameras are cool-live video from a cell phone giving a commuter's-eye look at traffic. and since these phones are being used by our photographers and reporters on the way to their stories., we're not contributing to the traffic mess. ( I mention that because we've gotten email accusing us of contributing to traffic).
check out the show-it's live on the myfoxla website from 4:45 to 6:15 pm every weekday. let me know what you think and feel free to offer suggestions, criticism, whatever. the show is a work in progress and if we feel you have some good ideas you bet we'll start incorporating them into the show.
