I don't smoke anymore, but blaze one for me!

What is the group consensus on Marijuana?

I have only realized the amount of people that smoke regularly, or have toked before in their youth. Legally it is against the law, and I think most tax dollars are wasted by holding non-violent Drug offenders in jail, as opposed to just fining them. I see no harm in a toke every now and then, maybe a bump, but the maturity level needed to totally assess situation and not go overboard is one that is very lacking, especially with the people taking the drugs. I've seen many people spend a lot of money up their nose, and I can only feel sorry for them and make sure they get home safe. I don't condone any drug abuse, but if your are a responsible adult, you can make your own decision, I will not tell you what you can and cannot do.

I think as a society we need to address the drug issue differently because whatever is being done is costing us more money on top of the "drug war" budget.
I see more harm in the increasing sexual predators, then I do with a stoner down the street that keeps to himself and enjoys being a dirty hippie.

Honestly, I think more people bump powder then anyone realizes, unless you hold weight.
I want to separate the two for sake of the blog, but I do feel cocaine has A LOT more baggage than the occasional spliff.

In my personal experience I found that it was much cheaper and safer to blaze a blunt, and sit on the couch, as opposed to racking up a bar tab and driving with one good eye...

Thoughts, extreme opinions? Love to hear them.

The criminalization of this plant comes from big businesses making moves to protect their profits. It is kept illegal for that same purpose..just different business now! There are SO many reasons we should be stopping the horribly expensive drug wars on marijuana and making it legal. The environmental impact it could have in providing a quickly renewable resource that can be clothing, food, paper, power, and many more should be the number one reason! The fact that is a very important plant in the medicinal sense should be the second biggest reason we legalize..Marijuana helps so many individuals with so many legitimate ailments. It has recently been shown that it can help reduce and prevent Alzheimers and that it stimulates cell growth in the creative center of your brain. The fact that Marijuana is a harmless plant is the 3rd reason we should legalize. There is a very small percentage of marijuana users that have adverse reactions to it like violence, or lack of gross motor skills. Truthfully those individuals had problems before the Marijuana. Marijuana is not to blame for any actions, the individual who caused the action is. If we are making it illegal because it is bad for us then dammit they better get busy making alcohol and cigarettes illegal. They are toxic killers as opposed to marijuana which could be one of the most beneficial plants known to man on all aspects of the spectrum. Food, Shelter, Medicine, Recreational Entertainment, even Spiritual Enlightenment!

There is so much money to be made by keeping marijuana illegal, that I dont ever see it becoming legal. Just another way to keep the poor poorer. Seems to be a big ol racket.
"they" say its a gateway drug that leads to other drug uses...but I find alcolhol does the same...Fact of the matter is...most US citizens are hooked on some sort of mind altering drug, be it illegal, or prescripts. We all want a buzz to get outta the hell we live in, In this country that is slowly stripping away all of our rights.
Wanna generate alot of tax dollars??? Legalize POT, and watch the dough roll in.

Some questions on legalization that I have yet to see anyone address:

What would be the industry standard of potency?
As we have 3.2 beer or 80 proof whiskey..

Exactly what level of THC in your system would be considered impaired? (Yes you can actually be too stoned to operate a vehicle, and have impaired judgement..) Then, how are we going to monitor it? Someone suspected of being impaired while driving (like staring at the green light and not moving yet..) How will law enforcement make a determination in the field?

These are just a couple question towards the logistics of legalization of marijuana that everytime I bring them up, I get scorned as if I was "killing the high."

IMO.. so long as the response to these questions is "Whatever dude.. just make it legal man... whats so hard about dat!"
NOBODY is going to take the pro-dope folk seriously.

Just like Global Warming argument, all the "medicinal marijuana" folks who say they can't relieve pain without "blazin one" or a bong hit or two... That is only one method of introduction of THC to the body.

They say the pill form isn't as effective.. (I suspect its just not as much fun or someone actually tried smoking the pills...) such a lame excuse!

Leaglize it and tax the hell out of it and limit the amount of THC. then you would have the same as cigaretts..

Actually California has it legalized for medical purposes, I think.
I just am not personally in favor of another social intoxicant.
As a young lady, I always thought that heavy drinkers made boring dates.
Some how mj smokers thought they were so much cooler, maybe they were. I wasn't.

It's a weed that can be grown in all 50 states. There is really no need to regulate it. I'm sure there is some way to find a limit of THC for driving purposes. I just don't think government needs to regulate weeds. It's a bit overkill.

Well rexsmom.. I know a few other moms and dads that might not agree. To the point of grown in all 50 states, well I would love to have my own still and make my own booze too!

I'm impressed so far! Yet to see the person in here defend mj as not as bad as cocaine, or alcohol. But I have seen plenty of folks stoned that end up with complete tunnel vision on the road.

Besides that... as soon as you legalize it, then we have a new era of lung cancer folks.

The potency is becoming pretty ridiculous nowadays. Home-Grow yields in three months continuously with six plants. If you cure it right, your smoking free and paying for your kit in 6. It's pretty dank stuff too.
I've never sold to make money, just to smoke for free.
Regulating the THC would totally depend on the person, as tolerance would be just as much a problem as with alcohol.
The stimus test with the pen could somewhat detect how high you are, by the level of stagger with the eye.
About the lung cancer, the vaporizers don't even smoke the weed anymore, it just heats it up enough to release the thc as a vapor.

I predict a cure for cancer in 5 years, I seen on the news yesterday a radio wave machine and gold nano-particles that would only heat up and destroy the cancer cells. That's some good news.
You can home brew beer with pony kegs. Many people still shine heavily too.

I would still feel safer on the road with a guy going 20 below the speed limit as opposed to a jackass goin 20 over and backwards hammerdogged!!!

I think the War on Drugs should be more focuses on the manufacturers and growers than the people who use the drugs. Fine the drug users... but freeze assets, imprison, and destroy the people who make the drugs and distribute them.

Someone help me out here if Im wrong but one key difference here is THC is a fat soluable while alcohol is water soluable. The body literally metabolizes them differently. I can take a hair sample and find THC presence from longterm use, but can't tell you if you are currently effected. Alcohol is the opposite.

Quite an interesting puzzle!

{I predict a cure for cancer in 5 years, I seen on the news yesterday a radio wave machine and gold nano-particles that would only heat up and destroy the cancer cells}

There was an article last week on the news too that gave some insight into a genetic study that has found the cells which are responsible for lung cancer and that a lot of the people with the genetic tendency to develop lung cancer also have the worst addiction problems with nicotine/cigarettes. Soon enough they will figure out how to destroy any type of cancer in us on an individual basis. Smoke em if you got em :) Still doesn't get around emphysema though.
Why not eat it fresh in a salad like they do in Amsterdam. On a whole I wonder how much healthier their population is in Holland as compared to ours considering the legalization of Marijuana in their country. Something to look into!

The government would indeed have to ask nicely for all of the findings so far so they could set up standards. I think a lot of information is already there we just have to make some nifty charts for it. The one thing that they will have to build from ground up before the US government will even start to accept full legalization is a test that can determine actual THC levels and not metabolized levels. The test would also have to be able to detect it quickly for use in traffic stops if need be. Some kind of cheek swab test maybe?

Thinking further on that the test could be very simple. All it has to detect is the presence of THC in your mouth at the time of the traffic stop...Make it an offense to be driving under the influence no matter what the level. Legalize it yet demand responsible use with a no tolerance attitude when it comes to something like DUI situations or when an individual is arrested for committing other crimes.

LOL!

Abunai, you are quite out of touch. Perhaps you should conduct your own home study of her potency and effects of marijuana. Seriously, zoning out on a green light? I would like to try some of that stuff, never had that kind before. LOL!

Have you ever wondered why you never hear of someone smoking a joint and going out and crashing, killing a family of five? No. You hear stories like the cop and his wife who baked pot brownies and got so stoned they called 911 because time was going "really, really, really, really slow".

Um, at this point the thought of driving is nonexistent.

LMFAO!!!!

Alcohol also has been proven to "retard" the brain and long term heavy drinking creates a jelly like substance around the brain. Alcohol also causes diabetes.

Alcohol causes a lot of problems. Alcohol drinkers have been known to go into rages, for no good reason. I know a person who can drink beer, but with just one shot of scotch, they become a whole different being. Not pretty!

Even if you didn't smoke and drive, the THC would still be in your system, even if you smoked weeks before.

As far as the difference in the levels from one plant to another, I couldn't tell you. Although, I have seen some beautiful plants. In a magazine.

It is God's way of saying HIGH! LOL I think, I read this on a T-shirt before.

They have a swab test with no false positives that detects any substance in fifteen seconds.
At the 2-day DUI school they make you take the swab test to be in the class.
I was in this class because of a refusal, and learned who the real idiots of society were.
There were 2 full classes and one whole one for multiple offenders.
A DUI costs about 5,000 dollars give or take and the people having to pay that SHOULD be paying that and never driving again.
Running over cops, barely stumbling to the car and waking up in a ditch, I didn't feel sorry for anyone there but me.
With court and bail my final total came to about 1800 dollars and I wasn't even drunk.
I'm glad that headache's over. I got my license back 2 month's ago.

About pot...
I cook sooooo much better when I'm stoned.
It makes me pay attention, maybe I have ADD...
