I certainly hope so, just as they should do a through investigation into Clinton & Bomers 'fund raising' and the ppl they associate with. The place smells.

Say what? A fund-raiser held in London? Ok devils advocate - maybe they were US citizens living and working in England? Just a thought, no I am not defending him....but that is the only logical explanation I can think of? Ok he's a politican, I should know better. I am sorry, I'll go find something constructive to do now........

don't doubt it, Graywolf. And I don't doubt the other candidates have some unexplainable "donations" somewhere in that maze of paperwork.

thenwhats to say an American wont funnel money overseas to allow Elton or whomever to give it to a candidate

THERE SHOULD BE NO LIMIT YOU CAN GIVE, PERIOD

Soros/Gates want to give millions let them.

People outnumber what that money can do.
Its up to the people and now with all the media outlets we have even more choices/opinions

Let them influence with money LET US "POORER" PEOPLE NOT ELECT THEM

UCHTT, you are absolutely correct, I posted this because he wrote the unconstitutional piece of legislation and has violated it repeatedly.

So far, nothing has been done about any of it.

Scotty, it is bad enough for a politician to violate a law (constitutionality not withstanding), but to be the author of it makes it even worse.

GW, the FEC is powerless to do any investigation right now. There are only 2 appointees on the 6-member panel, and action requires a quorum of 4. Why is this? Because Harry Reid is in a pissing contest with GWB and will not allow any appointments to the commission until...probably after the next president takes office.

McCain violate his own law? I'm certain it is not the first, or the last violation...and I completely agree with UCant. Still, I remain likely to vote for McCain in November, as the alternative would probably be worse.

The post asked the question: Is the media going to cover this? The first sentence of the second paragraph of the post's attachment begins: Recent news reports suggest.... This indicates to me that it was the media that first made everyone aware of the incident. I believe that Fox News also reported this incident a few weeks ago. Consequently, the answer to the post's question is yes.

With regard to the Constitutionality of the law in question, it has not been found to be unconstitutional by any Court at this time.

Ivy, I think the question is "Should the media provide saturation coverage?" My answer is "I don't care."

To your "Constitutionality" issue, the SCOTUS has so far declared several parts of "McCain-Feingold" unconstitutional. Go figure, eh? While the SCOTUS of 2002 upheld all of this legislation, we witness the SCOTUS of 2008 dismantling the very same ruling piecemeal...

I would like everyone to send me a dollar so I can run in 2012. Better make that a dollar a week.
WHO GIVES A FLYING F##K, both sides have been doing it for years. By the way GW, how much have you give? None? Don't sweat the small stuff. You will live longer.

Do any of you really expect anything to come of this? He should be "called on the carpet" for this, at least. If you were to stand up at a fund raiser and ask about this you would probably be hustled away for being a disruptive influence. Our government has become so corrupt it's rediculous.

Mark:

With regard to media coverage, I should have expanded my comment by writing that if the media had been able to find anything newsworthy, other than the appearance of a violation of the fund raising law, they would have or will make that information available to the public. If it is later revealed that there was a violation of law, Senator McCain must address the issue.

With regard to the Constitutional issue: On 6-25-07, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Federal Election Commission v. Wisconsin Right to Life. The case involved 3 specific ads by Wisconsin Right to Life. The Court ruled that Section 203 of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 is unconstitutional as applied to those 3 ads. The Court wrote that the 3 ads were genuine issue ads, not express advocacy or its "functional eqivalent" under McConnell (McConnell v Federal Election Commission). Consequently, Section 203 of the BCRA is unconstitutional only with regard to genuine issue ads. Section 203 remains constitutional with regard to express advocacy or "functional eqivalent" ads.

Unfortunately, "newsworthy" does not have anything to do with validity.

BCRA is not constitutional. The SC has idiotically granted constitutional exemption to parts of it as a political favor. The Constitution requires the SC to rule based on the Constitution, They frequently violate their duty by ignoring the Constitution and ruling however they want things to be.

Does any of this actually surprise you? I know we may differ on our opinions on who should be president, but none of this should be a surprise. Politicians pretty much do what they want until they are caught.

BTW Char- who is Bomer? Never heard of him/her. Just curious.

No surprise, just trying to help spread the word, since the media isn't touching it.

I believe Bomer is her pet name for BO.

You would think the media would be on top of this one, but I guess they have their own agenda too- and it's not in "reporting" the news.

I know who she means, just poking fun at her. You have to have a sense of humor about all this, there is far too much to laugh at to let it all go to waste.

Yeah, I just like calling him BO...kind of funny considering his muslim roots...

I like to play devil's advocate. You will often find me using Socratic irony, just for fun. Comments to posts aren't necessarily my position on a subject. I like to try to make people think of the other side of the issue. Don't read anything into my statements. If I didn't state it, I probably didn't mean it that way!
