How many people are paid to “guess”?

Sometimes we loathe tropical weather systems, but sometimes we love 'em! This time we should get some relief from the sweltering heat starting tomorrow afternoon in our southeastern counties....and area wide by Wednesday. As Eduoard hits the Galveston Bay area...we'll get some clouds spreading in, and even the hope for a few showers by mid-week. It lookas if the ONE chance for sub-triple digit readings will come on WEDNESDAY. By Thursday, the remnants will move away and temps will pop up near 100 again...with the very HOT readings (104 or so) returning by the end of the week!

Evan I asked this of Ron Jackson on his blog but never got a response back about it.

Has it ever been this hot in the month of August?

sorry about the burp on the blog, and thanks, it just looked so strange.
Am hoping He will make Himself known up this way and cool us off a bit.

It will be nice to have "cooler" temperatures. I just back from Galveston and if I had only known I might have been tempted to stay. Always have wanted to experience a "mild" hurricane.

I think it did back in 1981 or 1982, not for sure.

Wasn't it 1980 that we had so many days of triple digit temperatures? I know that one year we were breaking records like crazy.

Sorry to answer so late. The records for August range from 24 days in a row (1999) to 19 in a row (2006) to 27 days of 100+ in August 2000. Also August has seen 110 FOUR times. So it's been hotter....but that's probably no consolation!

Yeah, Thanks Evan. I'm ready for some 70's or 80's in the near future.

I should point out the main reason for these triple digits this year. The main contributing factor has been all this hot air put out by the politicians.

Oh, so global warming began a lot earlier than "scientists" first imagined, eh, Evan? lol

I, too, am ready for some mid-70's and a gentle breeze.

I’m the guy who gets up at 3am to get the forecast on the air each morning on GOOD DAY! Other than being constantly sleep deprived and taking afternoon naps, there is life after TV! I spend most of my free time with my wife and best friend, Lori. She is an amazing woman who keeps me sane and gives me a dose of reality if I need it. She has stuck by me and my lousy hours for over 5 years and counting! During the school year I visit elementary school kids and teach them a few interesting tidbits about the weather. It makes me appreciate the teachers in our country. I spend the rest of my time trying to stay fit, cooking and trading stocks! I grew up with a father who is a CPA so I learned about the world of business and markets. I don’t like the term “day trader” but I am an active market “timer”. So I can tell you tomorrow’s weather forecast OR forecast for the trend in oil or the NASDAQ! I have a "teenager" and two "tweenagers" in our blended family. They help keep me "young". Well, at least they educate me on what it's like to be young!
