I've been working night side on the new Realtime Traffic Webcast, so I thought I'd share some photos of what we do.
On the day I decided this would be my blog we were surprised by a visit by a Boy Scout troop from Mission Hills...So I had to add them in!

Our new webcast is a two anchor show.  On this day it was Tricia Takasugi and Phil Shuman.  We've also had Amy Murphy and Ed Laskos sit in.

Everything is pulled together by our stellar crew in the control room.

Here's where I sit to throw maps, cameras, and information your way.  On this day, Producer Jeff was filling in but if you add long hair we're practically the same person.  Well, not really but you get it.

And as an added bonus I caught Christine Devine getting her make up done for the 10 pm News, and she kindly agreed to a photo for my blog.  I'm sure make up artist, Jerry, will agree that it doesn't take much to make Christine look terrific!

Random Notes:
-Sebar, I'll have to check out your Youtube stuff.  Do you think these innovations are what has made traffic so light these past weeks?  ;)

See you next Thursday!

Well if you think traffic is an issue now, wait till they are in the air as in my Sci-Fi "CalHouse". Lanes of skytraffic, skyway Patrolmen (or women) it is all coming and perhaps sooner then many folks would agree upon.

That says it all. P.S., you are very correct, Christine doesn't need make up and most of all, she is talented and very smart as well. Perfection never had it any better!!!

Oh the control room Erica! What an Engineer's paradise! Aaah, all the different feeds that come through! It's the heaven of the TV enthusiasts! I'll never forget the thrill of operating the switcher! Oh I long for those days in a TV control room! I'm breathing in Erica! Great pictures! Thanks a million!

Samo, loaded question. But in a nutshell, there are a lot of elements that go in to each broadcast -multiple cameras, graphics, and live shots. Each one of the monitors allows the control room crew to preview each element before taking it live on air. It look a little overwhelming but you get used to it fast.

Paul, I asked Jerry how he feels about HDTV. He simply said it wouldn't make his job more difficult, just different.

Thanks for all your questions guys. Keep reading!
