Hi everybody....missed you dearly! As we all do every now and then, my time was up...I took my two week break from work in Central America . I spent part of it in San Salvador which is the capital city of El Salvador. Wow, the weather there was awesome! It is their winter, but boy oh boy, they enjoy amazing thunderstorms that are fascinating to experience! You should hear the thunder..it is loud and almost, I dare to say, a soothing symphony to your ears. What about those clouds, they look like cotton balls suspended in the air...and the rain, wow, it pours..those raindrops are huge! The rain is refreshing and not the kind of rain you run from because here at home, considering here you risk coming down with the flu. Aaah, did I mention how much I love tropical weather patterns?! It is sooo nice...to me there is something sooo calming about tropical weather climates. What about you? The last two days have been nice here at home, but I hear the weather has been a bit unstable with rain, then heat..etc. etc. But allow me to say, that even though I love to travel and see different parts of the world, there is no place like home! For me, home has always been Southern California, in fact you should have seen the sparkle in my eyes when we were flying back into LAX...looking over our beautiful city..yes we have lots of smog and other "crud" to worry about...but trust me, this isn't such a bad place to live.

I also want to personally thank all the staff at El Diario de Hoy, El Salvador's leading national newspaper, in particular Mr. Fabricio Altamirano, President of the paper! You see, they gave Fox 11 a great "shout out"--as soon as they found out about the Emmy we earned on our Africa Half hour special report "Forgotten Footprints: the Hunted Children of Uganda" they requested an interview with me and published a lengthy and very well written report published in the paper this past Saturday and yesterday. El Diario de Hoy also published an interview with their internet reporter you can see at: www.elsalvador.com

I encourage you to check it out and send them some feedback...even if it you can't understand Espanol.. :) ! Thank you El diario de Hoy!!

I have also enclosed some pics for your viewing pleasure of this small paradise south of the border (coming soon)!

Take care!!!

wow, so sad, not one post...u intrigue me young lady, on one hand your to be commended for your professional achievements, on the other, u should be ashamed to walk that Hispanic American tightrope u all so love to straddle...tell me, why is so important for u to hang on to your heritage, my people came from ireland and italy, i'm quite ambivalent about both countries and spend no time whatsoever forcing my ancestries down my fellow Americans throats, my mother held two passports for most of her life, i always used to ask her what if those two countries went to war, which one would u root for, needless to say she never answered me, i put the same question to you now, and heres the rub, while Salvador has come a long way in the last two decades, its quite likely to repeat the past one of these days, inevitable actually, so liz, which one u gonna root for?

hey lizzy, nice to see ya back. i was worried for a moment, when i notice you weren't on tv for over 2 days. i was like where's lizzy???? i was thinking, did she get fired? is she on vacation? is she suspended? but i was really surprise to see you on tv.

sounds like you had a great trip. my friends are from el salvador, so they always talk to me about what it's like there. they described it similar to what you spoke of. they grew up on a farm there, and they would talk about how it was like living on the farm. maybe one day i'll go on my own. i don't really get a chance to travel too much.

well in case you didnt read my last blog. check out what i wrote to ya. "hey lizzy. i just went to the kroq l.a. invasion on saturday. it was so bad as*. i mean seeing vevet revolver (guns n roses/stone temple pilots), foo fighters, kid rock, cypress hill, janes addiction, the return of the smashing pumpkins, and chris cornell (soundgarden/audioslave). it was a amazing 11 1/2 hours. so that's what i did over the weekend. my sister and her husband went to the lobster festival that you were covering. also my friend too. wish i could have gone, but i was at the show. so that's what's up with me. p.s. let's chat all day lizzy. j/k but check out my blog on the music section. "eat me, drink me". i think it's one of my best blogs that i have written. let me know what you think. later lizzy." so i guess i'll catch ya later.

The ratings for "Good Day" dropped really low over the past couple of weeks. Now we know why.

Bobby D. hasn't been on much.

I always knew I was in the presence of greatness whenever Elizabeth drops by the web desk here at KTTV, but now she's famous in Central America.

Am I worthy?

hmm at first i wouldnt think you would be worthy ddain, but after reading many of your funny blogs, you sure are. i'm sure pretty soon they are gonna put you infront of the camera.

as for liz, well she's like ruben blades or mana. in america she's well known, but in every other country she's like a god (goddess).

what are you talking about "not the kind of rain you run from because here at home, ...you risk coming down with the flu."? and what is "clouds look like cotton balls suspended in the air" What? You've never seen clouds before? I don't grasp your descriptive report, yet it is no big deal. No one else commenting here read the blog anyway! Glad you're back though, missed you lots.

i forgot one other item i wanted to mention. i missednever heard of this emmy winner -- Half hour special report "Forgotten Footprints: the Hunted Children of Uganda". i don't regret my not watching the emmy awards, but that is impressive that some at the leading national newspaper requested an interview you as soon as they found out about the earned emmy. why were they so enchanted by the emmy?

i totally get what liz is talking about. it's been a while since i have see really fat rain drops that kinda hit ya like a water balloon, but it's so amazing to see and to play in. it just kinda pounds on ya, and it doesnt take more then a second for it to get you drenched. as for the clouds, well here in cali, i never see any great looking clouds. just kinda looks like smog and all hazed together. nothing too grand. but back in the desert i remember seeing clouds that look like big sheets of cotton candy or lil fluffy ones that kinda remind me of mashed potatoes.

All I want to say is that I am happy for Liz and her achievements. I also share the pride with which she embraces her heritage as I am also of Salvadorean descent; as a matter of fact, I came to the U.S. when I was almost 14 years old. I guess anyone originating from a country with tropical weather loves the rain. I always remember how we just to come out and play anytime it was raining, which was pretty often. Besides my family, the rain is what I miss the most about El Salvador (well, I guess the food would take precedent as well).

It's unfortunate to have naive people make comments, like the one above, which take the pride some of us take in our heritage and politicize it. When Liz mentions the warmth and receptiveness of the people in El Salvador she never mentioned she felt the same way about the government; just like any tourist coming to the U.S. would not confuse the American People and the American Government. Being that the case, why should anyone have to decide between one country Vs. another? The only ones doing that are those who are naive and so closed minded they miss to see the human element of life. I think I speak for many people whe I say we are all for people and when it comes to that, there is no need to choose or take sides. Would you take sides against humanity?

Life is too short, enjoy!!

victor, is it that hard for u to celebrate the actual country that permits this forum of expression??? if u take so much pride from ur homeland why dont u return permantly? im assuming theres a reason u feld at 14, im trying to help u understand two things, one: pride in ones country is the lowest form of humanity there is, thats Nietzsche dog, not me, secondly, how do u suppose it makes run of the mill Americans such as myself feel who have no experience such as yours to draw from to compare? that said, do u see how i could interept both u and liz's, "Pride" and find offense in it? give it some thought and i think u will see my point, sorry the food doesnt meet ur taste here either, again see above mentioned solution for that as well...

I was very impressed witb the video interview by El Diario De Hoy, but I more impressed with impresion you got from the Salvadorean woman. You said woman in El Pulgarsito have courage, are fearless, and have no obstacles confroting life. You said, " They are pilas, pilas".
That is exactly what you are!!
As far as good or bad comments, I would not worry about it. This is the United States Of America, and That is all valid. That is whay we are the greatest country in the world. El Salvador is tiny little piece of land in this vast continent, America. It is of great satisfaction to have a Salvi woman play the role you are playing in this melting pot. Doesn't matter how small your contry, El pulgarcito, is what matter is that your are part of the USA.

Elizabeth, first of all congrats on your Emmy, Second, congrats for your interview in El Diario De Hoy. Thank you for never forgetting your roots and at the same time embracing this great country of ours we call home.
Those that failed to see what an honor it is to have such diverse background will never understand it. Your are definately a great role model for our young latinas.
Good Luck and keep the good work.
And thank you for enjoying the pulgarcito de America.
One more thing..your views on ES women....right on target. They sure have something that separates them from the rest (not offeding anyone).

ddain...

There are other reasons why Good Day L.A. ratings have dropped. And it's not because of Espinosa.

It's because Edwards needs a shot of testosterone or botox.

Hello Ms. Espinosa:

”Gracias por poner el nombre de los Salvadoreños en alto! It's good to see that we are making big strides. I saw the interview on elsalvador.com (which I check everyday) and it was great.

Conrats on the Emmys. Well done. Thank you for "asking the difficult questions."

Guanacos siempre.
