I'm back, and he's gone! Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is out! Bush's old buddy and colleague has resigned. He fought his critics for months, defended himself and the numerous calls for his resignation MONTHS AGO... well it is finally here. What changed? Let's face it NOBODY in D.C., the "Bush circle" that is, has accepted there was any wrongdoing by Gonzales. Karl Rove is gone, and now Gonzales, I wonder if they will join forces and start a public relations firm? :) Smirk... Just thinking out loud... I guess my point is here is that NOBODY should feel they are above the law. Yet, you have to admit the legal maneuvering that goes down in D.C. to save careers and indictments sure makes all those fancy magic tricks at the famous Magic Castle in Hollywood look like kids play. Who's the real magician now? So, who should replace Alberto? Please tell me your thoughts...

On another note, I want to publicly acknowledge my colleagues Cristy Fajardo/reporter, Darryl Kim/Photographer

r

and Juan Navarro (college pal)

...we all traveled to Uganda and Rwanda in 05'. It was a life changing experience I could not have dreamed of. It started as a vacation, ended with covering the toughest assignment we'd ever faced. My friends and I driving about 5 hours into northern Uganda where the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) has been waging a civil war against its people for nearly 20 years. It is a conflict not well known, but it is a conflict that continues to tear families and lives apart everyday. I blogged about the situation and included some pics in my photo gallery some time ago. Well, this past Saturday, the half hour special report "Forgotten Footprints: The Hunted Children of Uganda" we filed on the Uganda crisis was awarded an Emmy from the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. We dedicate this award to the lives of millions of Africans who need you and me to care. Together we can make a statement. If we keep silent we might as well be considered accomplices, especially when we know these women, children, and men are being murdered ON OUR WATCH. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

First of fall, congrats to Elizabeth for her Emmy. Let's just hope she shares it with those who have made her famous...like certain web producers who assist with her blogs on occasion.

As for Alberto, he really dug his own grave. In many cases a new Attorney General fires the attorneys that serve him if they don't agree politically with the President. All presidents have this happen, and it's not a big deal. If Gonzalez had simply said that when he canned these people, rather than try to cover it up, it wouldn't have been a big scandal and he'd still be employed.

So it's not really what he did that earned him his early retirement from government, it's how he dealt with it afterwards that made him out to be foolish.

You a lawyer Elizabeth? They might use you in Washington.

i remember that blog you wrote a few months back lizzy, and congrat's lizzy for the award you and your buddies christy, juan, darryl and last but not least the amazing ddain have earned. man, your just winning all the awards this year. women of the year, a emmy, what's next? a grammy or a oscar for a film you have yet to star in or a album you have yet to release?

as for alberto, what a coward. i'm glad that he's gone. if your gonna be di*k about firing people that don't agree with ya or the thoughts of the president, then have the balls to say why your doing it, and not beed around the bush.

well lizzy great to see ya back. it's been a while. too long. great outfit you had on. brown certanly suit ya, but red makes you to die for.

Ddain...

Yes, allow me to share with the world that DDAIN is an amazing web producer and I cannot claim any sort of professional success without naming the "DDAIN". As some of my colleagues say, "he the man". :))

Samo,

Hey sweetie, I am back, I know it was long but soo much was happening I wouldn't even know where to start with all the drama. Anyway, I am back, the surprise I mentioned was the Spanish webcast I was hosting/producing. Sadly, two weeks or so the station pulled it, instead we are now focusing on a 5 minute webcast at the top of every our. I and the other reporters may or may not be in the webcast, depending on the assignments we are on. So, how are you? Hope all is well, have really enjoyed reading your comments! Like the one where you talk about your father and how you try to take him out to different places! Ice cream, lottery, no, I have no idea what that's about?? I am missing out! Bummer.

Alright, my chatter is to be continued... thanks everybody! You guys are the best!

Hello Elizabeth and welcome back. You had requested a poem from me and I complied, it is in my blog as usual with a few of my harsh entertainment topics too boot, no relations between the posts though...I am sure that should relieve your id. Yes DDain is the guy he helps to make it all happen.

Now on Bush's people. While Bush won't go down as the worst President in history he and his people will be close, because they left America in a far more dangerous situation than they started with, and also created more issues than they could have solved. The Borders are one, China making everything including our poisoned food is another and the list goes on. Gonzales was nothing special other than a Presidential stooge of sorts. I see Campien and Ramos still in jail for stopping a drug dealer who Bush sides with so Gonzales did very little. Well at least we still have FOX for a while, though I am worried greatly of the Arab partial ownership of the news network and how it may influence truthful postings. Hopefully time will bear my hidden concerns doubtful.

I worked for the Dept of Justice for about 10 years. I have to say that no matter what you think the truth is - when it comes to the U.S. Gov, nothing is what it seems. When I was in the miitary, I did things for our country that you can't begin to imagine. You will never hear of my work and it's not in my record book. In the bureau, I was up on the chain and did well. I was loyal to my supervisors, whether they were right or wrong, but I always let them know if they were right or wrong. Loyalty carries a lot of weight - thing is when other employees or staff members don't agree with you or your loyalties, or agree with who you side with, you become a target. If you're with the majority, you're ok. If you're a small group, you're blackballed. I was harassed, stalked, belittled, I finally had it and left. Ten years and I have nothing to show for it.

I don't believe everything that the media presents to the public. I say that because when I left, the Bureau twisted everything I did and made me look criminal. These are the half truths they present to you. And unfortunately, the media presents them without question.

Allow me to demonstrate - Remember the sheep herder in Texas that was shot about 12 years ago by Marines? What if I told you that wasn't how it happened? What if I added one sentence to that story and changed your entire paradigm about it? Nothing is what it seems.

John Travolta said it best it the movie Swordfish. "What the ears hear and the eyes see, the mind believes."

Demboy....

Thanks for posting your comment...so does the "demboy" in your username mean you are a Democrat? If so, who do you like so far in that presidential hopefuls camp?

Sebar...

OMG..YOU ARE SOO SWEET! THANK YOU< THE POEM IS BEAUTIFUL! You are soo TALENTED! I had a nasty cold for a while...I saw the blog and meant to write something that day and then voila the days past. Soo sorry for that, but please allow me to say you are a wonderful writer!!! You must publish your work!! I am soo honored that you would take the time to create such an inspiring poem that speaks straight from the heart. I cannot thank you enough!! Gracias, Merci, Danke, you rock!

And yes, if you are talking about media consolidation...yes many believe it can be a very threatening element to any so-called democracy.

Martin72,

Wow, youar posting blew me away. Thank You very much for offering your insight. I take it if I ask anymore you probably won't say here...but believe me I have seen a lot in my life and I don't put what you said past anyone. Yes, the media in many instance lacks the "&*%$#@" to ask and press for the truth ...for many different reasons. Having said that, yes you cannot believe everything you see on tv or online. And yes, many times, nothing is what it seems. So, what really went down in texas?

Good to hear from you and welcome.

well lizzy let me bring you up to speed about the lottery thing. blcoffman wrote a post about "what would you do if you wont the lottery?" so here is our conversation about her question.

Samo714
first i would plant a huge kiss on the reporter that is reporting me for winning all that money. hopfully it will be elizabeth espinosa. then i would pay off my bills, buy a small home, a decent car, and motorcycle. buy myself the perfect body, then marry liz. yeah.

then i'll save the rest to buy nuclear weapons, and try to take over the world. hahahaha. j/k. or am i???? i also will invest some money for charity around my neighborhood. i also would spend it on hookers and beer. lol. yeah, bum fights, hooker's pudding wrestling matches.

Blcoffman
Samo WOW I'm so sure!!no really... Elizabeth would love that your a great guy !!But what about all those other women?? Then she would be Soo jealous ,I would but you are the MAN samo and I'm not being sarcastic either really I have been trying to think of a way to answer this and now I have! Your just so cool!!

Samo714
since i'm getting some plastic surgery done all over, i'm gonna be recovering for a while so i need entertainment. so that's what the hookers are for. the women are not for me to have sex with, just to watch for entertainment. the booze is to get the hookers drunk, so then they are willing to beat each other up for money in a pool of tapioca pudding. besides i have to take time off from work and everything to fix myself up to be presentable for lizzy. so like 6 months later then i'll have the perfect body, my ho

part 2 of discussion

6 months later then i'll have the perfect body, my house will be ready, car, motorcyle, and bills all paid off, and have time to bone up on being smarter, and knowing more about charities and causes that are inportant to lizzy. then i'll be ready for her. yeah. that's my master plan. then we will take over the world. hahahaha!!!

Thank you Elizabeth for your comments. They say poetry is the gauge of the soul, I suppose. Yes I have been authoring work since 1974, a very long time, God willing I'll be able to continue to create art till my end of days. Publishing work is never the issue, but rather who benefits and who doesn't and of even greater concern is the hack job they do upon the material. Yeah I know they paid for it and its theirs at that point, but there must be respect for the original artwork involved. Whelp, my biggest irks with the media vary greatly. Right now for instance a writer gets a 5 year repository with the WGA and that is it. My complaint has been why not for life as a simple PDF file on their massive hard drives? A zipped pdf file doesn't take much space, even millions of them. With hard disks approaching large sizes, they can easily amend their policies and that is just the start. The entertainment industry needs lots of work to change and be far better than it is. Anyhow glad you enjoyed the poem.

Beautiful Ms. Espinoza,
I had no idea you where such a wonderful woman. Well, let me rephrase that, I did...but I would like to say: THANK YOU.
You and reporters like you, that bring us important news, are the ones I admire.
Your parents must be overwhelmed with pride. I hope that my beautiful daughters will grow up to be as amazing as you. I will go check that website out now. Thanks for caring about people. You are among my favorite reporters, alongside Anderson Cooper of course. I luv AC. But I can luv Elizabeth too :-)
