Seriously, did anyone see the Live Earth concert? I felt like that came and went, and the media at large did not really make much mention of it?? But wait, did you hear, of course, you probably saw it....live coverage....Nicole Richie's DUI trial in Glendale? Do you feel the media at large is already working hard to create the same media frenzy and buzz around Nicole's DUI drama as her co-hort Paris Hilton's "time under the sun"??

Hmm..hmm, they are things that make you go huh? What do you think?? What do you want to see?

Talk to you soon everybody! Oh and by the way, I have a big surprise coming up...will break it to you soon!

Not a lot of people saw the concert. I think many people are a little tired of the fear mongering that the Earth is going to explode because of CO2 gas.

But let's be honest, when a celebrity gets in trouble and is going to jail, a lot of people are interested. I guess they don't have enough going on in their own lives that they have to take such a massive interest in others.

I'm sure Elizabeth, being someone in the spotlight, has her share of followers and those who live vicariously through her.

nicole isn't as big as paris, so the media wont go as crazy as they did for paris, even though between the 2 of them nicole is more crazy. let's face it, paris is all talk, while nicole backs it up. but i hope she goes to jail longer then just 4 days. come on for what she did, she should atleast have the full 6 months. but i perfer it to happen after she has the baby. just cuz i think it's wrong to put a pregnant women in jail. besides not being able to see her baby for 6 months might make her learn a life long lession.

why no one cared about concert? i don't know? i didnt really like anyone that performed other then bon jovi. plus ignorance is bliss at times. no one wants to feel like [...] about us destoying our own planet.

as for the surprise i think liz is gonna be the host for next week on gdla, or she's getting married (with me) or she's just really happy about getting triple scoop ice cream.

I think the media is beginning to make us all have a healthy (or unhealthy) dislike of most celebrities. If you think about it the celebrities I am sure do NOT want their entire "private" life splashed all over the front pages and in every magazine and tabloid. It has gotten to the point that the public is worrying about what is going on in the lives of the celebritites more than they worry about what is going on in their own lives.
So what is the exciting new news? Are you preggers??? It does seem to be a contagious condition. Well we will all be waiting.

i think celeb's like the attention. the crave it. if they aren't being talked about, then they aren't know. they may claim to hate it, but in the the end they really want it.

i do know that some don't. like johnny depp, he enjoys keeping his life to his own. mostly people talk about his work, rather then his personal life. look at tom hanks. he's the same way. but they don't need all the attention like paris or lohan do. they have talent, they make great bodies of work. movies that will last a life time. who is ever gonna remember "herbie fully loaded", or "mean girls"???

You have a point, but lots of celebrities big celebrities seem to be able to stay out of the limelight. Paul Newman and Joann Woodward, Tom Hanks, Sam Elliot, Robert Redford Even Bruce Willis has managed to stay pretty much on the down low. I will watch a lot of movies just because of the actor, Bruce Willis has never made a bad movie, Morgan Freeman, John Travolta, Tom Hanks, Samual L. Jackson Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn and several others. Yet they seem to keep their private lives fairly private.

I said it once and I'll say it again, news is not what it used to be. The days of Edward R. Murrow, and Walter Cronkite are long gone. Steve Edwards makes mention of this all the time. Steve has a point when he says that Morning news shows in Los Angeles especially the one he's on have little or no credibility. I often echo that thought. FOX's 10 o'clock news cast is way more comprehensive than Good Day L.A., Steve made this comparison this morning. Elizabeth, Ask for transfer to the P.M. cast, your reporting is good now, but imagine how much more validity your stories will have. Just like real estate it's all about Location - Location - Location! And if you relocate yourself in a prime time position You might have a longer future in this biz.....Getting back to the Paris/Nicole thing! In today's news, misery is what sells and gets Ratings. Good news unfortunately does not do any of the above. People, have you not noticed! Good news gets stuffed somewhere in the last 10 minutes of the cast, that's if the bumber music or credits down roll first. Anyway, Liz keep up the good work and leave the so-called entertainment to the "BOZO's" of the news world(could I be talking about Lucy & Reynold's????) Lets ask Steve Edward's that question.

Terrorists are coming through open borders to kill us "speculating only" (Suicide Bombers, Car Bombs, Be-headings of Kidnapped American's on their soil, Gun Fights), where's the media coverage on that?

Hi Elizabeth, no I did not watch the concert. As for the Nicole story, I don't think it will be as big as Paris going to jail but that's the way of life in Hollywood for the entertainment biz. Personally I think that if Nicole is locked up, she will not be as overdramatic as Paris. Nicole seems tougher than Paris. I still believe that celebrities get better treatment within the judicial system than you and me. I consider you a celebrity but I get the impression that you would never put yourself in that situation. By the way I watched you reporting this morning and you looked as cute as always. Take care, talk to you soon.

What is white and puffy and about to errupt?

Me shoving coal into my styrofoam factory.

Nicole Richie is just another unprepared receptacle, whose musical boyfriends selfish activity resulted in an internal orgasm.

Men have no self control. He probably wrote a song about her with his penis.

Nicole thinks this guy loves her...That's like saying the ocean loved me because it pulled my pants completely off.

Hey Elizabeth,

I could have sworn you had a blog topic about how we feel about the News reporting of today, but I don't see that topic any more. so I will borrow this forum if you don't mind, to express my feelings.

When I was in school we were taught that journalists should have some integrity and make every effort to find out the facts before reporting a story, to do otherwise was considered "Yellow Journalism" and anyone who really cared about being a "real journalist" would be ashamed and insulted to have anything they wrote be considered Yellow journalism.

Now unfortunately "Yellow Journalism" seems to be the norm in the quest to make "Good TV"....or a "Good story"...and that is exactly what reporters and journalist have been reduced to...storytellers of the worse kind... it is all about who can tell the biggest story regardless of who it may hurt, or how it may cause a person to be perceived by others. The goal now to search out the story which has the best potential to be sensationalized...and Celebrity gossip fits that bill perfectly

The latest example is a story published in print and reported on every news agency regarding Mr Clay Aiken and a disturbance on a plane.
Any effort on the media's part to do any fact finding or report the entire story would have resulted in reporting that Mr Aiken was SLEEPING and he moved his foot in his SLEEP and it ended up on the person's armrest in front of him. The woman caused the disturbance on the plane by hitting Mr Aiken in the chest while he was defenselessly SLEEPING...any disturbance(or act of violence wh

continued...

any disturbance(or act of violence which was the case by the women) must be turned over to the FBI...Mr Aiken did nothing intentionally to disturb the passenger in front of him, and no one should ever hit anyone over something like this, let alone strike someone while they are SLEEPING

The manner in which the "journalist" chose to report "the story" by leaving out one small but very important word...SLEEPING... made Mr Aiken out to be an inconsiderate person who cared about no one but himself...when the REAL facts would proved otherwise.... Additional fact finding on the journalist's part may have resulted in the fact that Mr Aiken is a very Selfless person giving much of his time to various charities including the his own Charity he founded in 2003 that supports Children with developmental disabilities.

Mr Aiken has been a victim of a lot of Yellow Journalism for the sake of making "Good TV" or a "Good story". the media outlets use stories like these because they know Clay has a very large, loyal, and devoted fan base.(and yes I am a fan)...who will comment and try and have the truth reported instead of the fiction that seems to be the norm, and the media knows this, they bait comments with their Yellow journalism tactics, when in fact they could get just as many comments(positive comments) if they told the truth, but sadly the truth in reporting and the integrity of journalists have been lost in the quest for making "Good TV" and a "Good story"...I never thought the word "good" could be so misused as it is today

I don't understand how anyone w

Continued....

I don't understand how anyone who dreamed of being a journalist could be proud of what is being called "Good" today.

You see the problem Elizabeth, is people doing things that are truly good never get the attention they deserve or need...The word Good, is now associated with any thing bad that happens OR can be made to look as though it happened to create a "Good Story". News is not used to educate and inform people anymore, News is now just another form of entertainment, and it fast becomeing more like "Reality TV"...then about reporting the Reality of what is happening in our world.

TV and print media, and those involved in it have so much power to change the world...for the better...or the worse...it is sad they have chosen to use that power in that most destructive ways. With the power the media outlets have they could be saving lives, and minds...they could inspire people to strive to better their lives and the lives of others, but instead, they destroy lives, for the sake of what making "Good TV", "Good radio" and the "Good story"

Here is my question to you Elisabeth and a question I hope you will ask your colleagues...what stories have they reported or been "allowed" to report, that really made them proud to be a journalist...that what they reported mattered and made a difference...I think if many look deep into their hearts, what they report today, and what they accomplish today using that powerful resource of the "media machine" is not what they dreamed of, if their dream was to be a REAL journalist.

Hugs to you Elizabeth...I rea

comtinued...yes I am almost finished LOL

Hugs to you Elizabeth...and fight the good fight...we need some Real Journalists who care about the merits of a story, and who recognize the power the media has to make a difference...the battle is a tough one, but I think you have what it takes to hang tough...because you have a heart, and the faith and knowledge of what real truth is.
