Ok folks this week , let's go fluff... it's time to talk about a lighter issue such as...cycling?? So, I bring this up because I went cycling with my friend along the LA River last weekend! Do you cycle? Have a bike? Well, I don't own a bike but I borrowed one for my 10 mile adventure (what a rookie huh?) over the weekend! Wow, I was actually impressed with how fast I could ride once raindrops started falling :) ... Well, tell me about your experiences? Do you ride any of those gnarly mountain trails? Oh and one more thing...it is amazing how much money people pour into this sport...WOW, my bud spent over a thousand dollars on his bike! Talk to ya soon!

You seem like quite the outdoors-woman there Elizabeth.

I'm a big-time biker for years, heck I'm so big on wheels I have three of them on my bike.

at the time my friend and i just started training for a 5k tour. so we were running 1 mile everyday, and bike riding 16 miles on the weekends. my legs and feet were killing me by friday due to the running. i haven't ran that much since high school.

so on our first bike ride, it was raining and the wind was blowing hard. but we decide we weren't gonna let it our way. we were team extreme. so it was my first time riding since i was 10 years old. so it took a few min's to get used to it. then when i did we started going on our trail. 8 miles to the beach, and 8 miles back. well just getting there took like 2 hours since the wind was slowing us way down. not to mention the rain was hitting us so hard and blinding us. i was cold as hell since all i was wearing were some shorts and a tank top. we didnt get home til dark. i was in so much pain too. i couldnt walk right nor sit down for a week. my as* hurt so bad. by the time i felt ok, i had to do it all over. oh what hell i went through for my friend, but she and i had fun.

by the time we ended our training we were running 5 miles a day, bike riding 20 miles on the weekend, and i wasn't able to feel the bottom half of my body. i'm glad those days are all over.

The only cycling I've ever done is at the gym and that for me was a workout.

But I too can't believe how much it cost for the sport of cycling. Not until a friend was shopping for a bike did I realize they are not cheap.

Ddain....

You are a "biker dude"...we see you riding around town on your pink "huffy"... :) Come on ddain, I had to go there, it was too easy! You are soo much fun, wanna go cycling, say 150 miles? (just joshin's with ya big j.... hee-hee

Don't mind us folks, that was small talk...

So samo, my man you are a trooper!! Wow, 5 miles a day on your feet and 16 on a bike...not soo shabby, in fact I'd say that's awesome! Oh yeah, I failed to mention I am hurting today, every muscle is sore..that one too! But of course I went a little overboard this week because the day after my cycling saga I ventured off in to a cardio kickbox class...all I have to say is OUCH! Quick, grab the Ben-Gay, reporter down... :)

luluO...

Aha so you are a "gym goer", good for you! Summer is around the corner, I gotta get cracking over here! Any big plans everybody?

You know Elizabeth, you think you're all that because you're a high-profile reporter and stuff...trying to poke fun because of the ride I choose....

You forgot to mention that I have a basket on the front of it with tassels hanging down from the handle bars.

150 miles? No problem...as long as there's some In And Out along the route.

wow, she called me her man. i'm blushing. it's odd, i did all that running and bike riding and only lost 10 lbs. but i did got some horrible Shin splints. i rather have the 10 lbs back and get rid of the shin splints.

crazy liz, practicing her striking. getting ready for the main event in my female anchor tourniment. can't wait till i finish writing up my ranking of the night crew. then i'll create a tourniment, and have the bloggers choose and vote who would win, till there is only one left. it's gonna be great. i'm still putting my money on ya liz.

Hi Elizabeth, on the subject about cycling, I want to tell you that I enjoy taking casual rides along the beach and forest like trails. I ride my Schwinn beach cruiser. It is very relaxing and slow paced. Especially along the ocean, the ride can be quite favorable. The next subject is, "Congratulations on your award today!" I was watching your segment this morning and was very happy for you. You are a positive role model for our young Latina women such as yourself. Keep up the good work. Bye-Bye.

Hi gang....

You guys are the best! It's really all of you who make this blog so successful!

Ddain...

Yes pal, I was honored last Friday as "Woman of the Year" by the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation(MAOF)! I am going to write about it Wed when my next blog is published!

Thank You ddain, samo, and eddie!!! You guys are the best! I believe it's important to give back, no matter how sappy that sounds...it's true!

So I gotta come clean, I was so pooped after all of Friday's work, I did not get a chance to go cycling this weekend (oopsy doo)...well, I should have better luck next time.
Stay tuned for the next blog!

Have a good day!
