What a blast!! Yup, that's my arm..my hand...I am pointing into the distance.

Inspired by the concrete as thousands of feet are minutes away from pounding LA streets with all of their heart and soul! What for? For my friend Marisol, it was about accomplishing a personal goal (even though it cost her three of her toenails at the end, OUCH!) For this mother it was about raising money for a school that gives her daughter a chance to be part of society, and these guys below...what a crew!!!...Robert, Nikki, Austin and friends... we met along the road, and instantly became the unofficial 5k cheer team! They were filled with positive energy, innocence, and a strong authentic fervor to encourage others without any reservations or hidden agendas!! I was honored to walk with these Special Olympics athletes from Claremont... 3.1 miles felt like a walk around the block...being around strangers who have all set aside their Sunday morning to walk with, or for someone, or organization was amazing and an absolutely humbling experience! It wasn't competitive, simply a humanizing journey that reminds us that we are nothing without each other. Walking along and with different developmentally and physically delayed individuals gave me more than I could ever give them!

Of course, I still need your help, please help me raise some dollars for ability first a non-profit that serves developmentally delayed adults and children we'll take 5, 10, 25 dollars, your say.. just log onto www.abilityfirst.org and search me by name. :)

Thank you so much! As you know, I am passionate about this because I have a brother who sustained lack of oxygen at birth which caused severe brain damage. He's 23, non-verbal and very good looking :) ! Unfortunately, this year he was unable to join me at the 5k, but next year I hope will be a different story.

Thanks for listening... hope to see you at next years LA Marathon! Congrats everybody!!!

Wow Elizabeth, what a great cause. For you to do something like this is great and publicized as much as possible.

Can people give donations to the cause even though the race is over? I've got a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket.

It's very simple...simply log onto www.abilityfirst.org and click on "sponsor a walker", you then search for my last name and there it will be! Anything helps, it does not have to be big bucks...we're talking 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 whatever you can do to make a difference! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Elizabeth,

Wow you are a true hispanic! You give our culture a good example. I'm from Nicaragua and I have a little cousin that has special abilities and I try my best to send money once a month to my grandma, so she can give to the parents. It's so great to be involved or help someone that's in need; it just fills your heart with joy! Good job Elizabeth and keep our culture proud!! :)

Astro-

Have a great day also!!! :)

Eva-

What a bummer you did not see the live segment...good thing is all your fans did! :) Thanks for coming out to say hello.....I gave the blanket to Jill..she is very thankful as am I! Take care of your precious family and good luck with the radio station gig!

Karloz23-

Que paso! Thanks for the love...cuidate y adelante siempre!

Baba1722-

Thank you...you are also making a big difference...its amazing how just a little bit of money in our Latin American countries can take us so far. And when we can make the donation, I say why not? Of course, take care of your own needs first, but a small periodic donation should not kill your finances. :) Plus, I love that you care about your little cousin, it's very sad that outside the U.S., individuals with disabilities are still up against a lot of negative stigmas.

So you are a Nicaraguense? I have a great friend whose parents are also Nicas...I've known him since first grade and we are still great amigos.

Cuidate y gracias! Saludes a tu abuelita!

Hola Elizabeth,

Yes, I'm from Nicaragua - my name is Alejandra. I left my country with my family when I was 2yrs. old to Honduras, then at 5 yrs old we moved to California. So I don't have that Nica accent, my dad always bugs me about it :) Thank you for writing back and I sure will let my Abuelita know that you said "hola". Que tengas un buen fin de semana! :) Chao

Way to go Elizabeth. You always do so much. You seem to have a kind heart and a wonderful personality. I enjoy watching you in the mornings. Especially when you deal with kids.
Congrats.
One day I'm hoping to do the L.A. Marathon. We'll see.

Babij...

Thank you...we are actually still in the process of raising money. PLEASE help me spread the word getting people to make a donation, no matter how small, every bit helps! You can log onto www.abilityfirst.org and look up my name to make your online contribution. THANK YOU SOO MUCH! It's so great that people can STILL make donations even after the marathon.

Debbie..

You got the right attitude girl!

Thank you very much for sharing such beautiful words about me, but I must admit I would not see life through these "lens" if it weren't for the disabled community who reminds me on a daily basis to be grateful for every bit of health we still have!! Keep sharing the wealth of positive energy with others!
:))

Funnychelle...

You are too funny...love the remark on "people who don't say merry x-mas"...so true huh?
Well, Miss Marine wife...you will do the marathon, it just has to be on your time...so take it easy and enjoy the sun! I will see you at the finish line!

Sarom...

I hope you are doing well! Yes, my hair has grown out a lot...and yes I learned ASL because of my brother who is disabled. Are you working now and living with your grandmother? Take care of yourself...

Hey EE,
I too am glad that you are an inspiration to those who are less fortunate...

I have a handicap also that is not really noticeable which also extends my compassion to those less fortunate than myself...

If there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know it would be my pleasure...
